Flame of Your Touch - Part III

"I should have killed you, bitch, instead of dumping you in that bloody river!" Victoria growled at Faye as Aiden aided her in getting up and untying her wrists from the rope.

"You irk me!" Cora snarled as her claws tore apart her throat and her body fell to the ground bleeding profusely. When Cora turned around, her breath hitched audibly, and blood oozed from her mouth. As he twisted the sword deeper into her chest, Dominic's sinister laugh filled the air.

"Seraphina!" Aiden growled as Denzel came forward, and the beast took his place in an instant. His razor-sharp claw snagged Dominic's shoulder and threw him across the ground. His canines snapped at him as his claws tore through his flesh and clawed out his heart. A raucous scream filled the air around them. Mia collapsed to the ground, grabbing her chest!

When he turned around, he saw Emmerich grabbing Seraphina's lifeless body before it could collapse on the ground. Everything happened so quickly that everyone was frozen in place for a split second. Emmerich's head turned towards Denzel as he snarled at him in full Demon form. For a split second, he was perplexed as the Demon leaped at him full force. However, the Demon came to a halt when Seraphina's hand barely grasped his finger. His rage at Aiden was temporarily forgotten as they rushed her to the hospital, Faye trailing behind them, tears streaming down her cheeks profusely.

Denzel relinquished control, pulling himself back into Aiden's depths as he rushed to the infirmary after grabbing a trouser. He dashed down the corridor as he noticed Seraphina's hands clutching Faye's palm, barely saying something to her, and Faye nodding her head. Emmerich snarled at Aiden as he approached her stretcher. Faye looked at her mate, perplexed, as tears streamed down his cheeks and he begged Emmerich to let him near Seraphina. Seraphina had merely nudged her grandfather's arms, and he had allowed Aiden to reach her.

"You'll be fine! You're not going to die! You're not going to die! Please!" Aiden cried and begged repeatedly as a ghostly sadistic smile coated Seraphina's lips and she whispered,

"I died the moment the flames of your touch stopped burning me. I have been dead ever since!" Those were her final words as they led her into the infirmary operation theater. Aiden was left standing like a statue as Emmerich's fists slammed against his face repeatedly, faint cries and pleads of Faye reached his ears, but he couldn't get his body to function after those words Seraphina had uttered.

Nicholas, Liam, and others had also arrived, and after numerous attempts, they had finally snatched the demon away from him.

"You scumbag! If she doesn't come out of that room alive, I'm going to burn you alive! That bastard had half of her heart! You fucking ripped out her life, you fucking beast!" His words finally reached his ears as he fell on his knees. He was the reason she was on the verge of dying, and how would he survive if something happened to her?

Life's harsh irony is waiting in the infirmary hall. Similarly, you found yourself as miserable as if you were waiting for someone who never came back into your life. The fact that they affect almost all of us, sooner or later, does not make them any less heinous. They are always just a tad too cold. It always smells just a little bit too sharp and clean. It's always quiet, so quiet that you can hear the fluorescent lights humming - another constant.

Only now when he realizes he was going to lose her did he come to understand how much his heart craved her, how much he had fallen for her. How deeply her name was etched in his soul. Only now, when she was near death and all he could do was helplessly wait, did he realize how much he truly loved her. Even the thought of her death made his heart bleed; he knew he couldn't survive in a world without her. Without her smiles, warmth, and the sense of security that only she could provide, and without her presence beside him. But he didn't know how much she loathed this world now, how much she wished to be at peace. He'd seen the healers exit the operating room and Emmerich rush to Riley. He had seen her head drop and mutter something, Emmerich was out of the infirmary in an instant, raging fire surrounding him. She had told them to wait and pray. That was all they could do at the time.

She'd said a few hours, but he'd been waiting for what felt like an eternity. There was a clock in sight. It felt as though the clock has superpowers. It always seems to move at a glacial pace. If you look up at it, it will tell you what time it is. When you look up an hour and a half later, it will tell you that two minutes have gone by. Yet it somehow simultaneously has the ability to remind you of how short life is, to make you acutely aware of how little time someone you love might have remaining to them.

She watched how her mate mourned for his lover, and she saw how helplessly he begged when Emmerich threw him out of the room Seraphina was kept in. All she could do was stand there and wait. Days passed, and each one seemed to last forever. She'd lost track of how many days had passed when one day Riley informed her that Seraphina wanted to see her. She stood there, perplexed, staring at the healer until she found herself walking into the room. It all felt hazy as she had seen her lips move and her hands clasped her palm in a firm grip. She recalls the glints in her hazel eyes and the ghostly smile on her lips as her hair turned platinum white and her eyes violet before they closed.
