Kayden's point of view

Things were not still smooth with the pack, but I was making progress. Activities of my life were becoming too spontaneous to keep up with and in that regard, I made a timetable for the rings I would engage myself with. I snuck in going to meet with Nina. 

I still had not figured out how to approach the issue but I was feeling too bothered about not being able to reach her after a long time. It was as if we no longer lived in the same place anymore. When I left in the morning, she wouldn't be around and when I came back, I wouldn't find her anywhere. 

Jessica still made advances, but I was quick to shut her out. 

It was nighttime and I was still sitting in the car after just arriving. I looked around and thought about finally going to see Nina. What would I say to her? I thought about kneeling to apologize, "No, I'm an Alpha. I'm bigger than that." I reprimanded the obnoxious thought. 

I finally stepped out of the car and went into the pack house. The hallway that led to my room and my office also had Nina's on it. I stopped in front of the door. I still considered whether or not I should knock.  

I knocked three times in a row due to my anxiety.  No one answered. 

"Is she asleep?"  I asked the guard who stood by her door. 

"I don't know, sir, but she hasn't stepped outside in a while. Maybe yes."


 I knocked a few more times again and she finally touched her doorknob. I could see from outside, but she didn't turn it. 

"Open up, Nina. I know you're there and awake." I called out from the other side. 

She turned the knob again, and this time around, she finally allowed me in.

She looked different when she appeared. She looked thin and her face was disfigured by eye bags. 

" What's been happening to you here? Why do you choose to cook yourself up here?" 

" It's none of your business," she replied defiantly. 

I looked at the guard and gestured for him to excuse us. 

Nina was stubborn, it wasn't a new thing, it just felt different since I was the cause and had no justification to pull her out of her shell by force. 

" You're going to have to speak to me eventually." I started speaking once I saw the guard was out of sight. " This is my house and I am Alpha, you have to respect my wishes." That didn't come out right and regretted immediately blurted it out. 

"Oh really, I guess it's due to how highly you think of yourself, that's why you've been promiscuous lately. That's beautiful, continue. What else do you want from me, my lord?" It was a total mockery already. There was nothing more I could do. 

I left her door and walked away, a few steps away, I heard her jam her door furiously.
