Chapter 215 Please Hypnotize Me
The male servant froze for a few seconds before realizing this was real, not a dream.
He immediately bent over to thank Alexander, then rushed back to the box, grabbed a gold bar, and threw it at Isabella with all his strength.
With the first came the second, then the third.
The remaining servants, seeing that Alexander was truly allowing this, were instantly driven by primitive greed.
They scrambled inside, fighting over the gold bars, then frantically hurled them at the woman who had once lorded over them, constantly insulting them.
Gold bars fell like dense raindrops as Isabella's screams continued.
"Sorry, ma'am!"
"It's all for the money!"
"I threw the most! I get first pick!"
"That one's mine!"
As they threw, they did not forget to show off to Alexander.
Alexander stood to the side, coldly watching their greedy mouths, watching as Isabella's body was battered bloody by more and more gold bars.
Only when Isabella slumped in the chair, breathing weakly and barely clinging to life, did Alexander raise his hand.
"Stop."
The servants threw a few more in their frenzy before finally stopping, panting as they guarded the gold bars at their feet, afraid someone would steal them.
Alexander signaled to his bodyguard. "Break her arms and legs. Careful—do not kill her."
"Yes."
The bodyguard stepped forward. With several dull cracks of bone, Isabella's unbroken limbs were forcibly snapped.
Isabella, nearly dead, let out another piercing scream. Her body convulsed violently once, then slumped heavily.
Alexander walked up to the barely conscious Isabella and leaned down.
"Take her back to Grandhaven. Lock her up with your dear daughter Edith and your 'good son-in-law' Linus. Remember—break everyone's arms and legs. But they cannot die. I want to watch you all slowly suffer through your long, hopeless lives, slowly tearing each other apart."
Edith was not dead?
Linus was there too?
Isabella's fading senses were violently jolted by these words. She suddenly forced open her swollen eyelids, her scattered gaze struggling to focus on Alexander's cold face, parting her lips as if to speak.
But Alexander had already straightened up. Without looking at her again, he walked straight out.
All the questions, the truths, and the grudges—let them stay there.
Let them fester in the pitch-black, sealed basement of Grandhaven, where broken limbs and the agony of living without the mercy of death will force them to uncover, digest, and repay every single thing, piece by piece.
Alexander took a flight back to Grandhaven that same night.
Ignoring Mark's advice, Alexander insisted on opening the casket lid, lying inside, and sleeping through the night holding Caroline and their child in the bone-chilling cold.
The next day, he woke early, changed into a black suit, combed his graying hair neatly, and shaved the stubble from his face.
Before leaving, Alexander personally arranged Caroline's clothes, wiped her face, and applied her makeup.
He leaned down and gently kissed Caroline and their child on their faces.
"Caroline..." Alexander softly stroked Caroline's hand.
"I am leaving now."
Alexander reluctantly took one last look at his wife and child in the open casket, then waved to Della.
Della held back her heartache and nodded to Alexander.
"Sir, do not worry. I have found the place you asked for. Nothing will go wrong."
Alexander closed his eyes and nodded heavily.
He turned and walked resolutely toward the door.
He did not dare look back, afraid that if he did, he would regret it, could not bear to let go, and would forever trap Caroline in this cage called himself, not letting her rest even in death.
Alexander endured the pain as he got in the car and had Mark drive as fast as possible to the outskirts of the city.
"Sir, we are here." Mark's voice pulled him back from his chaotic thoughts.
Alexander opened his eyes.
Before him was a small courtyard—the clinic of Dr. David Ortiz, who had once performed hypnosis on Caroline.
Alexander pushed the car door open and walked inside.
The assistant, already waiting at the entrance, nodded slightly to Alexander and respectfully led him to the innermost treatment room.
David was waiting inside.
"Mr. Hamilton, please sit."
Alexander slowly sat on the recliner and said in a low voice, "Dr. Ortiz, I already explained my purpose on the phone. I hope you can perform deep hypnosis on me."
David stepped beside him and said softly, "Mr. Hamilton, I understand you are in immense pain. But deep hypnosis—especially when it targets specific memories—carries serious risks. Are you sure this is what you truly want? Is it to ease the pain, or to forget?"
Alexander slowly shook his head.
"It is not to ease. It is not to forget. It is to erase—erase every trace of Caroline from my mind."
He knew exactly how much harm he had caused her. Even keeping her in his memory felt like a stain on her.
"I cannot let her remain in my thoughts. My memories are tainted, twisted, full of harm and mistakes. Even love was selfish. Every time I thought of her, whether good or bad, I ended up ruining it... always leading back to that ending. I believe even thinking of her would taint her life's path. If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I do not want her soul to carry anything of me, Alexander."
He closed his eyes.
"She deserves to leave unburdened, untouched by someone like me. Pain, guilt, love—none of it should remain. I do not want her soul to bear even the slightest weight that comes from me. Erasing it—maybe that is best for both of us."
David took a deep breath, walked up to Alexander, and crouched down.
"I understand your pain and your thinking. But you must understand—your obsession runs too deep. The hypnosis may not work, and could even trigger worse consequences. Are you sure? Have you really thought this through?"
Alexander nodded gently. A crystal drop slid from the corner of his eye, quickly disappearing into the gray hair at his temples.
"Let us begin."
David looked at the moisture at the corner of his eye and finally let out an almost inaudible sigh.
He sat beside Alexander.
"Now, relax... follow the music's guidance, feel your breathing..."
Accompanied by soft, soothing music, Alexander's eyelids grew heavier and heavier. His consciousness sank like falling into warm water, continuously descending.
The surroundings grew brighter and brighter. Alexander slowly opened his eyes.
The sky was very blue, the sunlight dazzling.
Alexander raised his hand to shield his eyes and sat up.
He was lying on a recliner. Before him was a second-floor terrace, overlooking the backyard of the Hamilton family's old mansion.
The sunlight was perfect, the spring breeze gentle, waves of floral fragrance drifting by.
This scent... so familiar.
Alexander sat up in a daze and walked to the edge of the terrace.
He looked down. The rose bushes from the neighboring Neville family came into view, and a figure in red was crouching by the flowers—more beautiful than the flowers themselves.
