Chapter 76
P.O.V. John
Ever since I arrived in Valgerd, I started acting like a barbarian.
I had always prided myself on the controlled and balanced way I dealt with my problems, but now I was totally out of control.
When I saw Lyall with the woman who was destined to be mine, I freaked out and ended up assaulting him, but then I found out that he was just looking after her, just as I would easily do with Ebon.
Yes, it seems that our lives really are intertwined, since I'm not at all willing to leave Rebeca's life, a woman I didn't even know the name of, but was sure I loved.
After talking to Lyall, I went after the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen, and vampires are known for being the most beautiful female beings.
But Rebeca was special.
She possessed an aura of serenity and grace. Her eyes were a veritable sea of mystery and enchantment. They were a deep green. There was something about them, a glow that didn't just come from their color, but from a kindness and intelligence that transcended the physical.
I was enchanted by their beauty, which went beyond their physical appearance, but also reached their inner beauty.
“Sorry about the way I arrived, I'm not used to acting like this,” I said to the woman I had been looking for everywhere and who finally appeared in front of me.
“It's okay, don't worry, I haven't been acting maturely either, let's talk and settle our differences once and for all. We need to get on with our lives,” she said, implying that she wanted to get rid of our bond.
I followed her outside the pack house and we started walking through the streets of Valgerd. I felt the werewolves' ugly eyes on me, as if they were about to attack me.
“Maybe it's not safe to walk around here with me. I don't know if your countrymen will stay away from me for long,” I said, afraid that at any moment I might have to get into a dispute.
“Don't worry, everyone knows you're Luna's guests. No one here is crazy enough to challenge her decision, even if it's as absurd as her decision to take you in,” she said, but I could see that she immediately realized her mistake.
“I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude,” she looked me in the eye and I no longer knew why she was apologizing, so much did I admire her.
We arrived at a kind of lookout point, from where we could have a privileged view of the lands of Valgerd. The place was very beautiful, but it was no match for Rebeca's beauty.
“I was scared when I realized that you were my companion and that's why I ran away,” she began.
“I've spent my whole life hating you vampires, thanks to this stupid war you insist on maintaining, I've never been able to leave Valgerd safely.”
“I'm sorry about that,” I tried to apologize, but she looked away.
“I just wanted a wolf as a companion who loved this place as I do and not a being who despises my family, my people,” she said as her gaze was lost on the horizon.
“Please,” I said as I touched her face and directed it towards me, ”I can love anything where you are, just give me a chance.”
“I'm sorry,” she said as she turned her neck quickly to escape my touch, ”but I'm determined to break this bond and if Lyall won't marry me, I'll find someone else.”
“Can't I at least try?” I asked her, who answered me with conviction.
“No, you can't try. I don't want you and I'll only let a werewolf touch me, not a vampire. I'm disgusted by your kind.”
“Please, Rebeca. Don't talk to me about the possibility of other men touching you.”
I was bolder and this time approached her neck, to a place I'd been drawn to since I first saw her.
Salivating with desire, I brushed my lips against her warm, soft skin and left a kiss that immediately sent a shiver down her spine.
Seeing that she didn't pull away, I moved even closer and wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her close.
I could hear her irregular breathing. Her body was as affected as mine. I felt electric waves running through my whole body and I believe the same was happening to her.
“Are you going to carry on pretending that you're this arrogant, prejudiced person or are you going to give me a chance to show who I am? I was going to walk away because you said you disliked me, but apparently that's not true.”
Rebeca didn't notice, but her nails were digging into my arm, which made her blush when she realized it. She looked so beautiful that I couldn't resist kissing her.
Actually, I just brushed my lips against hers. I didn't want to scare her. She seemed so fragile and innocent, despite what a beautiful woman she was.
However, I was surprised when she returned the kiss, which soon became something hot and sensual, leaving me completely aroused and able to do whatever that woman wanted of me, because I was completely surrendered.
“I'm sorry, that's wrong,” she pulled away from me and when I tried to approach her again, she took a step back.”
“Let me at least show you who I am,” I said almost pleadingly.
“Fine. But let's go somewhere more private, I don't want people to think I'm cheating on the man I'm going to marry in two days.”
“You're not marrying Lyall, you're marrying me, but I don't want to discuss it now, let's go somewhere more private.”
Rebeca took me to a small, cozy country house not far from where we were staying.
“This is my parents' house. They lived here when they were young, when they liked to be isolated, but after my brothers and I were born, this place was practically abandoned, except for me, who always comes here to think and admire nature.
“The place looks great,” I said sincerely as I entered.
“Why did you leave the day you discovered the mystical link between us?” She asked me. “Admit that you also despise werewolves just like your queen.”
“I didn't leave, I ran away... because I was shaken by the way you looked at me... I'm used to being kind and receiving kindness and affection in return. It was frightening the way you looked at me. I had nightmares about the way you looked at me for days...” I admitted.
“I'm sorry about that...” she said.
“You don't have to apologize, because that was the truth of your heart. But please don't stop me from coming into your life,” I said and moved closer.
I'd never been rash when it came to women, but now I was like a fucking teenager, being more impulsive than I'd been my whole life.
Rebeca had her head down, but when she raised her eyes and enveloped me with that look, I kissed her again, but this time we didn't have to stop.
Rebeca's hot kiss left me so disconcerted that the next thing I knew, I had Rebeca leaning against a wall, while my hands were touching her body under her dress.
“Damn!” I said defeated. “I think I'm going too fast, I'm sorry about that.”
I took my hands off her body and stepped back a little, as my pants felt like they were going to explode.
“All right... why don't you sit down for a while. I'm going to make some juice with some lemons I have here,” she said as gracelessly as I did and ran into the kitchen to prepare the drink.
I was out of breath, choking on my desire and instinctively began to unbutton the first few buttons of my shirt, while trying to cool my burning skin.
“Would you like some help with that?” Rebeca asked me as she jumped onto my lap and kissed me again.
I know I crossed the line when I put my hands on that round ass, I know I crossed the line when I pulled down her dress and sucked on those tasty breasts while I listened to the woman on top of me moaning with pleasure... I know I crossed the line, but I had to stop.
“I'd love to continue, but I think we need to talk,” I said, pulling away from the kiss as I looked at that pair of beautiful breasts.
“Wow! I never thought I could be rejected like that,” she said embarrassed and ducked her head trying to cover herself.
“Maybe I don't measure up to the women you usually date, I know vampires are beautiful.”
“Please stop,” I said, holding her hand. “Stop this nonsense and stop covering yourself. Please stay there, like this, let me see a bit more of you. You're just wonderful and I'm completely in love.”
“If I'm as beautiful as you say, why did you ask me to stop?”
“Rebeca, you're very confused and I don't want to pressure you. I want your decision to be by my side to be a conscious one, but understand, if I continue I won't stop and if I go all the way here, I'll never leave your life again,” I said, smoothing her neck with both my hands.
“It's time for dinner. Let's go back and we'll talk again later,” she said with a smile and I pulled her into a gentle kiss, even though I wanted to be inside her at that moment.
