Chapter 13 (The Legal Document)
Callie immediately straightened up and looked at Grayson, smiling at him, "Sorry." She mumbled and moved closer to him.
"Aww, look at that, Aunt. He's brought some girl home to flaunt. Not gonna say hi to your mama, cousin?" The blonde guy spoke with an accent.
Grayson remained calm and led Callie forward, toward his mother
"Hello, mother," Grayson greeted, his arm wrapping around Callie's waist.
Though she hated him, his arm seemed to be an anchor for her in that tense situation.
Mrs. Wolfe stood up and hugged her son, "Welcome, son. Who have you brought home?" She questioned, looking at Callie.
"Oh, hi, Mother. My name is Callie, Callie Wolfe. Grayson's beloved wife," Callie said, surprised Grayson by letting go of his arm and hugging his mother.
Mrs. Wolfe paused for a second as Callie wrapped her gentle arms around her; slowly, she hugged Callie back.
"Wow... It's nice to meet you, Callie," Mrs. Wolfe chuckled, feeling overwhelmed by the whole situation.
"Same here, mother. I must commend you, you have the best son in the whole world, and I'm lucky I married him," Callie giggled.
Mrs. Wolfe held Callie's hand, looking into her eyes, "He's been through a lot. Please take care of him." She told Callie.
Callie nodded, "That's my job, mother, taking care of my baby." She smiled and turned to Grayson to give him an air kiss.
Grayson would have let his jaw fall to the floor if his cousin were staring at him. He was surprised, he never expected Callie to be such a good manipulator.
His mother seemed to believe every word she said. Maybe, it was good she announced herself that way; his mother would have doubted if he did it himself.
"I should doubt you, Callie. But, mothers know their children best, just like I know that Grayson is capable of hiding his girlfriend, engagement, and wedding from me. He's always like that," Mrs. Wolfe said, leading Callie to sit on the sofa.
Someone suddenly laughed, "Aunt, come on, don't tell me you fell for this ill-planned drama?" Grayson's cousin stood from the sofa and pointed his hand at Grayson and Callie.
"What do you mean?" Mrs. Wolfe questioned, worry in her voice.
Grayson cleared his throat, "Sweetheart, meet my cousin, Omar. He's quite troublesome, so, stay away from him." He introduced.
"Okay, baby," Callie smiled, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Omar." She sent Omar her softest smile.
Omar scoffed, "Save your niceties." He said and turned to Grayson but before he could speak, Mrs. Wolfe spoke to him.
"Omar, don't cause trouble in front of our newest family member," she said and smiled at Callie, "Do not mind him. He'll come around." She said.
Callie chuckled, "I understand, I have a cousin just like him, always seeking attention through troubles." She replied calmly.
Grayson smirked, walking past Onar to sit beside Callie, placing a hand on her thigh.
Callie froze, glancing down at Grayson's hand that was slowly rubbing her thighs.
'What are you doing!' She screamed in her head but her face looked all smiley and happy.
She hoped Grayson would respect her boundaries during their period of pretence.
"I've always wanted Grayson to settle, and my late husband, too. God rest his soul. I'm so happy to meet you, Callie," Mrs. Wolfe chuckled, not letting go of Callie's hand.
"Okay. Welcome to the family, Callie. However, I've known Grayson as a strategic businessman, he could just pick a random lady and ask her to pretend to be his wife," Omar started, pushing his hands into his pockets and narrowing his eyes at Callie.
"I see no rings I'm your hands, how do you plan to convince us without rings?" Omar smirked at Grayson.
Omar chuckled, raking his blonde hair, "This is a fake relationship; you both will probably go your separate ways when you leave this house. Come on, cousin, I know why you're doing all this...." He pointed to Callie.
"Just trust me, accept you're never fit to find a real relationship and hand over your inheritance to me, I'll handle it better than you do," Omar shrugged, smiling slyly.
"How about you go create your own wealth, Mr. Omar?" Callie turned her body to face Omar.
Omar raised his brows, surprised.
"It's obvious it's you who isn't fit to find a real relationship," Callie places her slim hand on Grayson's thigh, grazing her fingers inside it.
Grayson almost jumped from the chair, his hand immediately covering Callie's, holding her steady. He was shocked at himself.
He wasn't supposed to react to Callie, especially not while they're busy fooling his family.
"As for my baby and me, we're stinkingly in love," Callie suddenly turned Grayson's face around and kissed his cheek.
Grayson froze, his mind forgetting how to function.
Callie was destabilising him with every little action she made.
"It's alright, Callie. You font have to worry about Omar. After all, I never wore a ring in my entire marriage. Ring is just an accessory, and, love doesn't need accessorising to be real," Mrs. Wolfe said and gently stood from the chair.
"Come with me, Callie. I've git some gifts for you," she said and extended her hand to Callie.
Callie took the woman's hand but was surprised when Grayson held her back.
"Um, mother, I don't think she wants to leave my side just yet," Grayson said, standing and wrapping his arm around Callie's waist.
Callie frowned up at him. If he was being too obvious with his distrust they would surely get exposed. Omar was already sniffing.
"Come on, Grayson. It's just a few minutes. You have her for the rest of your life," Mrs. Wolfe smiled, her blue eyes sparkling under the bright light.
"Yeah... I do," Grayson muttered and released Callie, not without warning her secretly with his eyes.
Callie rolled her eyes and moved away from Grayson.
He was warning her? As of shed want them to get exposed, she also had something to benefit from the contract, so why would she flop it?
"Aunt?" Omar suddenly called as Calie and Mrs. Wolfe were entering a hallway.
Mrs. Wolfe halted, turning to look at Omar, "Yes, dear?" She answered patiently.
"I don't mean to cause problems, but, I can't stand and watch you get fooled. If they're married, I demand a -"
"Proof?" Grayson smoothly cut in, pressing a document against Omar's chest.
"You don't have to worry, cousin. I made a copy to GP round," Grayson said and walked out of the house to make a call.
"A marriage certificate?" Omar gasped in disbelief, snapping his head up to find Callie's smug smile looking at him.
