Chapter 41 My wife ..
Dahlia.
" We have guests. " There was a mischievous smile on Dalton's lips as he informed, and instantly, my curiosity was piqued.
" There.." He added, pointing in some direction in the room. I followed his gaze, and there, in the monitor, I saw two figures, standing at the villa's outer gates, holding gifts, and and wearing forced smiles.
It was Jason and Sofia and the sight of them, had my blood turning cold with anger.
"If you don't want to see them, you don't have to force yourself. " Noticing the shift in my mood, Dalton's suggested so patiently, and the concern in his voice deeply warmed my heart up.
It then dawned on me ...He must have organised everything. Unless he allowed it, no one wouuld find his location, our location, and much less, someone of Jason's status.
For Jason and Sofia to show up outside the villa, holding gift boxes, it could only mean one thing ..Dalton had deliberately leaked the details of his location to them. He was providing an opportunity for me to take my revenge against Sofia and Jason. And the thought had a soft smile tagging at the corners of my lips. After putting all the effort, how could I dare disappoint him?
" No, Sir Dalton ." I whispered, smoothening a nonexistent crease on his suits collor.
" On the contrary, I would love to meet our guests. I mean, they have gone through all that trouble, it's only fair if we see them, right?" I winked, with a mischievous glint glazing my eyes. And in response, he just raffled my hair before he led the way, and I followed behind, deliberately falling behind, to make my entrance impactiful, later.
Deep doen, my heartbeat was an erratic mess, and I couldn't wait to see that look, pure disbelief, defeat, and anger on Jason's face when he discovered that I was Dalton's wife.
With the haze off from my eyes, I could see Jason for who he truly was. He might not have loved me, but he would never be okay with knowing that I married someone else, and it would literally kill his ego to know that I married someone better than him, his idol.
" Mr Dalton Riggs!" I heard Jason's enthusiastic voice as he greeted my husband, and I had to admit, he really knew how to suck up to people who were above him in the social hierarchy. With how much respect was dripping with his tone as he called Dalton, it was safe to say, if he had a tail, it would have been wagging up and down, in pure submission, before settling in between in his legs. What a sucker! The mere thought of having been in a relationship with him repulsed me to the very core.
" Congratulations on your wedding!" From where I stood, I watched with amusement when Jason took a deep bow before my husband.
" And who are you?" Came in Dalton's cold and bone-chilling voice and for a second, pink crept to Jason's face at the question.
He was Goldville's sensation. He might not have been half as famous as Dalton was, but he was used to getting recognised and receiving special treatment and recognition in business circles.
From just his reaction, it was obvious that it had been ages since anyone asked him who he was.
To get such a question, not to add, the thinly veiled disdain in his tone, that was clearly bound to dent his ego, and I watched every moment of it in great amusement.
" My name is Jason Riggs.." He introduced, putting a deep emphasise on the Riggs part.
" We share the same surname. Actually, I am..." He went on, animatedly, only to be stopped by Dalton by a wave of his hand.
" So, you are from the illegitimate branch?" Dalton asked, his voice loud enough, with oure disdainful rolling with his tongue.
And after his question, deep silence materialised in the air, with Jason's face going beet red with shame, and for a moment, he looked down, not daring to lift his head.
You see, in the past, I used to be mad whenever someone referred to Jason's family as illegitimate, but now? It gave me great satisfaction as I watched him getting humiliated like that.
Clearly, he was the best description of the name bastard. He was just like his father, mother, and grandmother, a bunch of jerks!
Probably, Jason was too humiliated to say anything, and it was Dalton who broke the silence, his voice edged with impatience as he looked at him..
" Why are you here? I just got married. I should be spending time with my wife and not on you." There was a deep frown on Dalton's face as he asked, and it was at that moment that I chose to make an entrance.
I was still in my wedding gown, white, beautiful..
" We came to congratulate you on your wedding.." As if he had just snapped out of his daze, Jason explained, too flustered that he was stuttering.
" We also came with gift..." He was paused, then stiffened in place when he saw me.
The gift he was holding were thrown away, as he took slow steps towards me, disbelief and and regret framing his face as he looked at me.
" Dahlia," he called out, his voice trembling.
" What are you doing here?" He asked, raising his hand, trying to catch mine, and I just ignored him, taking a step away from him.
" Have you been stalking me?"He asked, and I wanted to laugh at the absurdity of it. Stalking him? Wasn't he overestimating his sense worth?
" I know you posted that video." He added, his words reduced to a hushed whisper.
" I know you know about Sofia and I. "
" You have already gotten back at me for betraying you " He went on, looking very convinced, triumphant, and all along, I watched him make a fool out of himself.
" Can we stop fighting? Your are the one that I love. Sofia was just a distraction."
"Let's go home. " His words sounded like a command as he ordered.
" Mr Jason?" Just then, Dalton called out, the fury in his voice hardly concealed.
" Isn't it inappropriate for you to hit on my wife, while I am here? "
