Chapter 143
Scarlett’s POV
On the way back, cold wind howled through the car window.
Lillian's body suddenly trembled, her startled cry immediately catching my attention.
"Uncomfortable?" I asked indifferently.
"It's... it's Richard! He's going to kill Miss Smith!" Lillian said with a trembling voice.
"Alexander, what should we do? If this continues, Miss Smith will die!" Lillian's panicked voice rose.
I didn't even bother to lift my eyelids. Instead, I smiled faintly.
"Isn't that what you wanted to see?" I said coldly.
With these words, the concern on Lillian's face instantly transformed into embarrassment and uncertainty.
"Alexander, what are you saying? I..."
"Oh, you don't know?" I removed my sunglasses and leaned closer to Lillian.
"I thought that despite your boldness, you'd at least be smarter than Sandra."
Sandra had been suffering terribly at Richard's hands lately, and hardly anyone knew about it. Besides the instigator of this situation, the only others who knew were those who had been stirring things up from behind the scenes. And Lillian obviously knew about this.
She looked at me, a flash of fear immediately spreading across her face...
"Cold!" I muttered impatiently, and Luke quickly raised the car windows.
The car had been driving for nearly two hours.
When we stopped at Gray Villa, Richard was just getting out of his car.
My gaze kept falling on the scene across from us. Scarlett was leaning against Richard's shoulder, seemingly in a deep sleep.
Richard's suit jacket was draped loosely over her, but it couldn't hide her disheveled clothes and hair.
She looked utterly exhausted, remarkably similar to how she appeared after making love with me.
Richard's fingers gently caressed her cheek, that possessive gesture igniting an inexplicable fire in my chest.
"Mr. Gray, are you going to..." Luke began, his eyes anxiously darting between Richard and me.
I didn't wait for him to finish before abruptly pushing the car door open and getting out.
The cold wind dispersed a hint of the heat in my chest, but it couldn't extinguish the rage in my heart.
I strode after Richard, my gaze never leaving Scarlett in his arms.
When we reached the elevator, Richard suddenly turned to face me.
"Alexander, unless necessary, try not to come back here in the future."
I lifted the corner of my mouth in a sarcastic smile, slightly raising my chin to look directly into his eyes.
"Uncle, are you afraid I'll disturb your private life with my little aunt?"
Richard didn't answer, only tightened his arms around Scarlett.
"Uncle is right. I wasn't being considerate," I said, suppressing my inner fury and adopting a falsely conciliatory tone. "But I'm not feeling well. Aren't you concerned about me having to travel all the way back to Majestic Oak Villa today?"
Richard's eyes narrowed slightly, and he turned away without a word.
Luke quickly stepped forward to press the elevator button, and I walked into the elevator.
"Has Miss Smith been..." Luke cautiously began, but stopped halfway through his sentence.
I knew what he wanted to ask.
Richard previously suffered from impotence, so he might have only tortured her in other ways.
But now that he was cured...
At this thought, the rage in my heart became almost uncontrollable.
The elevator doors opened, and I kicked the door open directly.
I couldn't wait any longer. I pulled out my phone and dialed the number for Obsidian Palace.
"Mr. Gray..." On the other end of the line, Marvin's voice carried obvious surprise.
I could hear faint sounds in the background, suggesting they were having a meal.
"Is Mr. Gray contacting me suddenly to discuss cooperation with Obsidian Palace?" Edwin asked, his tone carrying a hint of mockery.
My gaze fell on a bell on the table, which I picked up and shook absent-mindedly.
The once crisp bell sound had now vanished, leaving only silence.
"Since you put it that way, why don't you help me investigate someone?"
"Investigate someone?"
Edwin chuckled softly. "Shouldn't you go to the police? Mr. Gray, you should know that Obsidian Palace specializes in uncovering business secrets. Oh, and recently... we've expanded into assassination services. If you're interested, I can give you a discount."
I felt somewhat annoyed. "If you insist on communicating this way, then we have nothing more to discuss."
Just as I was about to hang up, I suddenly decided to drop one final bombshell.
"I heard that the previous generation's most excellent agent once captivated the heart of Obsidian Palace's former leader, and even bore him a child. Judging by the age... I have someone here... I think you'd be interested in meeting."
Having said this, I immediately hung up the phone.
