Chapter 127
Scarlett’s POV
When I said those words, I felt almost no emotional reaction.
Camila stood up in surprise, instantly drawing attention from those around us.
"Are you insane?" she exclaimed in shock. "You're deciding to leave the ship now? Where do you think you're going?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, she froze.
She collapsed back into her chair, forcing out words from deep in her throat: "You've gone mad!"
Only then did I curl my lips into a smile. "Camila, I have no choice. If I want to live, I must resort to whatever means necessary."
I reached out and grabbed her still-trembling hand. "So you'll help me, won't you?"
At this point, neither of us had any other options.
She leaned back against her chair, revealing a resigned smile.
"I must be the crazy one... to actually consider becoming your ally. If you end up dead, I'll be the one taking the fall."
"You have no choice," I said flatly. "We both saw what happened to Acacia. I don't want to be the next one locked away in some private psychiatric facility. No... he definitely wouldn't let me live anyway."
After saying this, I stood up, preparing to leave.
As I walked behind Camila, curiosity suddenly struck me. "What does it feel like to fall in love with someone? Like how you feel about Casey?"
Camila gave a bitter smile. "Falling in love... I suppose it's wanting to present your most perfect, most beautiful self to them. That's why I've been desperate to erase my past, wanting only to be Camila Foster from the political family, the Camila who could help him navigate the political landscape steadily."
"Is that so?" I responded, my mind elsewhere.
Then you're quite foolish.
When I returned to Alexander's suite, it had been cleaned immaculately, with no trace of our earlier intimacy remaining.
I collected my passport and identification documents, planning to slip away from the cruise ship under the cover of darkness.
However, as I reached the doorway, my steps suddenly halted.
On the marble countertop by the entrance, a broken hair tie had appeared seemingly out of nowhere.
I remembered that night when Alexander had gathered my long hair, teasing me affectionately, asking if I'd missed him so much that I'd rushed over with my hair in disarray.
That night, I couldn't find the hair tie I'd been wearing.
At midnight, a high-speed boat quietly pulled alongside the cruise ship.
After knocking on my door, Camila quickly departed, leaving me with an encrypted phone and some cash.
Under the cover of darkness, I took these items and hurried down to the first-level deck, cleverly avoiding the night security personnel on the cruise ship.
Just as I approached the waiting speedboat, ready to descend, something ice-cold suddenly pressed against my lower back.
Instinct made me react immediately.
I grabbed the wrist of the person behind me and effortlessly pinned them against the wall.
However, the person before me was completely unexpected.
"Miss Blair!"
I had assumed Richard had discovered my unusual behavior, but I never imagined it would be Sandra.
"Scarlett, what are you trying to do out here in the middle of the night?" Sandra struggled under my control, her face full of humiliation and embarrassment.
I released my grip on her.
There was no need to harm her, even though she might become an obstacle to my escape plan.
"It's none of your business," I said, dusting off my hands.
"What are you trying to do? Aren't you afraid Richard will find out?" Sandra stared at me in disbelief, as if seeing me clearly for the first time.
I watched as the calculation in Sandra's eyes transformed into a thirst for revenge.
She suddenly grabbed my hand and began dragging me toward the staircase.
"Scarlett, I'm taking you to Richard right now. I want to see exactly what you're up to!"
However, no matter how much force Sandra used, I didn't budge an inch.
"Miss Blair, I don't have time to waste with you."
I smirked coldly, unceremoniously breaking free from Sandra's grasp.
"I suggest you return to your cabin and forget you ever saw me."
"Don't look down on me!"
Sandra suddenly drew a knife and swung it at me.
I had no time to dodge, and my arm was slashed, leaving a cut.
"Scarlett, come back with me and explain yourself. Perhaps Richard will show mercy for my sake."
"For your sake?" I wanted to laugh, but also felt she was as pitiful and tragic as I was.
"You..."
She seemed thoroughly provoked by me.
Before she could react, I took out a handkerchief and pressed it directly over her mouth and nose.
In less than a minute, Sandra had completely lost consciousness.
I took care of everything, then turned and jumped onto the speedboat...
