Chapter 280 Alex's Younger Brother

Chapter 280 Alex's Younger Brother

Aurora Ross's POV:

I ignored his deliberate teasing and confirmed his identity, "You're the last person who passed the arena test, one of Eder's chosen heirs."

I remembered Eder mentioning another person who had passed the test when I watched Alex fight in the arena. At the time, I was too worried about Alex's safety to think much about it, but now, seeing this man's skills, it all made sense.

I grabbed his chin, moving his face side to side, scrutinizing his features that were eerily similar to Alex's.

Even though Eder would cultivate other family bloodlines, with his controlling nature, he would never truly hand over the power of the Phillips Group to a side branch.

"Let's cut to the chase."

"Where did you come from, bastard?"

"How old are you?"

My voice turned cold and raspy.

I thought of Luna in her sickbed, Alex's father, who died young, and Alex, who had been targeted for so long.

If this man was older than Alex, then Eder had betrayed Alex's grandmother a long time ago.

In a family like this, talking about loyalty was a joke when it came to Eder.

But Alex had been insulted for years for being the son of an illegitimate child.

My grip on his chin tightened.

Before, it could be said that Eder disliked Alex because of his status as a bastard.

But what about this man, also a bastard?

While Alex was pushed into the spotlight to bear everything, this man was hidden and protected by Eder, right?

After realizing Fiona's two useless children were unreliable, they activated this backup plan, right?

So what did Alex count for from the beginning to the end?

The more I thought about it, the more I couldn't suppress my anger, and my grip tightened uncontrollably.

"Take it easy, will you?"

The familiar scent, the familiar features.

Even his actions and tone occasionally overlapped.

I pressed my lips together, feeling even more annoyed.

"Miss, you're quite smart."

He smirked, his gaze deepening.

"My name is Alan Phillips, also Eder's grandson."

"Maybe Alex is my brother?"

Even their names were similar.

I lifted his chin forcefully, making him tilt his head back, his throat constricted, unable to speak.

"Shut up. You think you deserve to be his brother?"

Most of the Phillips family members were no good.

I stayed alert to his movements and asked again.

"Why did Eder call you back to the estate? What's his plan?"

He raised an eyebrow, looking somewhat helpless, struggling to speak.

"Miss, can't your actions match your cute appearance a bit more?"

"How am I supposed to talk like this?"

I frowned, ignoring him.

But I felt his throat move slightly under my fingers.

He stared at me, the smile on his lips growing wider, as if he had discovered something amusing.

That strange look...

I suddenly felt a chill down my spine.

Couldn't blame me for overthinking.

Especially when dealing with the Phillips family's inherited perversion.

"Are you looking to die?"

I threatened, tightening my grip.

He grunted, not resisting, leaning closer to me, making my scalp tingle even more.

I didn't even feel this dangerous when I had someone beat him up earlier.

The familiar scent reached my nose again.

"Your scent..."

Alan replied, "What?"

I said with disgust, "It doesn't suit you. Don't use it again."

He raised an eyebrow, his gaze shifting behind me before he continued.

Alan said, "Liar, you clearly like it."

"You..."

I was about to curse him when a pair of arms wrapped around my waist, lifting me off the ground.

My mind went blank for a moment, and the next thing I knew, I was sitting in a broad embrace.

When I looked again, Alan was already kicked to the ground.

"Alex?"

I looked at the suddenly appearing Alex, still a bit dazed.

His expression was ice-cold, his arm muscles bulging as he held me, his gaze towards Alan filled with murderous intent.

I quickly patted his shoulder to calm him down.

What was going on?

Why was Alex so angry?

Even if he disliked the sudden appearance of Alan, this reaction was too extreme.

He glanced at me, his eyes bloodshot, the madness in them making me stiffen.

"What's wrong?"

I looked past him to Kent, who was following behind, blinking in confusion.

What did I do now?

Kent looked exasperated, secretly raising his phone.

On it was a photo he had just taken.

A woman in a long dress leaned slightly forward, gripping a man's chin, forcing him to look up.

The kneeling man cooperated, his eyes filled with what could be described as interest and obsession, his face covered in injuries, yet he didn't resist at all.

No matter how you looked at it, something was off.

It was supposed to be a confrontational scene, but the photo looked strange.

Like some weird dog-training play.

I twitched my mouth, watching Kent type another line. "Mr. Phillips has been watching for a long time, since you grabbed his chin."

Disciplining another man in front of him.

No wonder he turned out like this.

Jealousy easily destroyed Alex's rationality, and the people behind him had already drawn their guns.

I was startled, quickly wrapping my arms around his neck.

But Alex didn't look at me, his tightly pressed lips turning pale.

"My throat hurts," I spoke with difficulty.

I wasn't lying.

My throat really hurt.

Otherwise, I wouldn't keep seeing the doctor.

Before Alex appeared, I could endure it without showing any expression.

But after he showed up, I couldn't bear it anymore.

I pouted slightly, feeling a bit wronged.

If it weren't for his issues, I wouldn't be forced to speak so much.

He finally reacted, looking at me with suppressed anger.

He understood my underlying meaning.

"You better not be defending him."

Defending who?

Alan?

I was speechless.

Fortunately, Alex always prioritized my matters.

Even though he wanted to kill Alan, he still turned around with me in his arms.

Alex's kick wasn't light; I guessed Alan's ribs were broken.

He clutched his chest, spitting blood, his gaze towards Alex filled with hostility.

But when he looked at me, he sneered.

"Miss, we'll meet again."

"Next time, I'll give you my perfume as a gift."
