Chapter 82 Troublesome Ex

Chapter 82 Troublesome Ex
BLAKE
"I do forgive you, Blake. I love you so much," Rylie said as she threw herself into my arms, crashing her lips against mine as she did. I was delighted of course and kissed her back fiercely but for some reason it didn't feel right.
All of a sudden, I felt someone's hand in my pants and that was when I jerked awake to find Kristen sitting beside me on the bed. My eyes widened and I struggled to catch my breath.
"Kristen, what the fuck?" I yelled, my mind racing as it tried to comprehend what was going on.
She didn't seem particularly fazed, in fact she seemed kinda annoyed. In response to my question, she just shrugged. "Nothing that we haven't done before."
I rolled my eyes and struggled to stay calm and not erupt at her. "What does that fucking mean? You can't make a move on because we've had sex before. I was asleep for fucks sake."
"Stop being dramatic, Blake." She rolled her eyes. "Any guy would be happy to find a pretty girl's hands down his pants."
"Not if they didn't consent first!"
"Oh my God, you're making such a big deal out of this. It's not like I raped you or anything. And besides you're awake now so we can just do it. Rylie doesn't have to know," she whispered conspiratorially like this was a big favour she was doing me.
"There's nothing going on that Rylie has to know. Now get out of my room before I throw you out!"
She huffed, rolling her eyes as she made her way to the door. She stopped with her hand on the door knob and turned to face me, a scowl etched on her face. "You used to be fun, Blake. I guess hanging out with that stick in the mud, Rylie in this backwater town changed. But whenever you're ready to have fun again, you know where to find me." Then she had the nerve to blow me a kiss before finally leaving my room.
After she left, I made sure to lock the door just to make sure she didn't come back before settling back in bed, not feeling entirely comfortable given what had just happened. How I ever dated that nutcase for so long was beyond me.
I tried sleeping but the entire incident had rattled so much that sleep eluded me. All I could do was lie and I found myself taking a trip down memory lane.
I thought back to the very first day I met Kristen. I was about ten and I was auditioning for a role in the same movie she was. It was sort of an instant connection between us. The audition had only called for one child actor and she ended up getting the part but I was so smitten I didn't care and I kept in contact with her. I got my first major role when I was twelve because she recommended me to the director. Being models and actors, we moved in the same circle and stayed friends before I eventually confessed my feelings when I was fourteen and we started to date. I still remembered Kristen when she was the cute blonde actress who always had her hair in pigtails and had a twinkle in her eyes when she smiled.
She started to change long before she cheated on me with Derrick, my other best friend but that was really what made me aware that my best friend and first love was no longer the same person I'd fallen for.
Having been in the industry as long as she had, I knew how much pressure it was on children and teenagers especially when you didn't have a good support system so it made me a little sad for her. I didn't have any feelings for her anymore but I still wish I'd noticed something was wrong before she ended up like this.
Maybe, just maybe things would've ended differently for us.

The next morning, I woke up a little later than I intended which could all be owed up to Kristen's interruption in the middle of the night. I was able to catch up though and Rylie and I were soon on our way to the set. Kristen had of course tried to tag along with us but didn't after I pointed to her car and called her back to my warning to her in the night.
"So...did Kristen give you any trouble?" Rylie asked.
"Yes, she did but you don't have to worry about it. I told her off so she's gonna leave us alone for a bit," I squeezed her hand and winked.
"That's nice. I'm happy to hear that." She gave me a sweet smile like she was proud of me or something before she looked back ahead. I did same with a big grin of my face, happy to have made her proud. That sounded weird but it was true.
On arriving on set, I learnt that I was to film another scene with Kristen which of course wasn't surprising since she was the female lead but that didn't make me any less happy to do it. But after remembering that after this, she would be out of my life for good, I pushed all my emotions aside and got to work. It was great and we finished the scene in a few takes.
I had another scene to act which happened to take a lot of time because it was a pretty emotional scene that involved my character, Chase confronting his father about a particularly dark secret that he'd kept from him.
It took several dozen takes before we were finally able to get the scene right and it also happened to be my last scene of the day which meant that I could watch Rylie act since her scene was up next. Unfortunately, it was with Kristen.
A few minutes before they were to start filming, I decided to take time out to warn Kristen just in case she tried to do anything to Rylie while they were filming.
As I walked into her dressing room, I could see the surprise written clearly on her face which she was quick to mask with a smirk.
"Does this mean you've changed your mind about us?" she remarked smugly as the makeup artist continued applying blush to her cheeks.
"Can we have some privacy please?" I requested of the stylist. She glanced at Kristen who motioned for her to leave with a wave of her hand so she did.
"Sooo what exactly brings you here, Mr. Weston?" she swiveled around to face me on her chair, crossing her legs under the long robe she was wearing.
I scoffed and rolled my eyes at her. "You can cut the bull crap now, Kristy. Your little robe thing isn't turning me on."
"Well I never planned for it to turn you on. I was already wearing it before you came in...and did I just hear you call me ‘Kristy’? The same name you used to call me when we were dating? Are you sure you're completely over me?" she drawled with a smug look on her face.
"You're delusional, KRISTY," I said with much emphasis, "but I really don't have the time for it. I'm actually here to talk about Rylie."
On hearing my words, Kristen knitted her brows and a frown draped her features. She swiveled back to face the large mirror that was placed in front of her and twiddled with the brush that the stylist had left behind.
"It always has to be about Rylie. In fact, I'm not sure that we've ever had a conversation that wasn't centered around her. Why exactly is that?" she sounded a little hurt even though I could see the bored expression on her face from the mirror.
"Because I actually care about her. If not for her, why exactly would I choose to be in the same room with you?"
Okay, a little harsh but she more than deserved it for what she put me through.
I could see Kristen visibly exhale shakily before she whirled around to face me with yet another smug smirk.
"You want to know what I find funny? It's that while you're here being all valiant to try and help a girl that's not your girlfriend, that same girl is happily entertaining a guy in her dressing room," she divulged, her eyes mocking me as she spoke.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Absolutely nothing but you can put together the pieces."
"Kristen, if you're lying, I swear to God—" I growled but she cut in.
"Do I have any reason to lie? Okay, I do but I'm not lying now. You can go check her out for yourself. Her dressing room is just a few doors away after all."
I stepped back and was already leaving when she called out, "Oh, and can you tell the guy he's cute. Perhaps he would mind dumping Little Miss Goody Two Shoes to get with me if you know what I'm saying."
I merely grunted in reply and swiftly made my way over to Rylie's dressing room. Though hesitant to enter at first, I eventually gathered up the courage to do so and opened up the door to find Rylie and Asher in each other's arms... kissing?
