Chapter 39

Killian! You woke up!” I said screaming in joy, my heart about to explode from the happiness.

“Listen, I have a huge headache right now so could you please lower your voice?” he asked putting his right hand on his forehead.

“You woke up!” I said repeating the same sentence in disbelief.

“Oh my God, how much did I drink to end up in the hospital? Where is Jason? I swear I will kill that punk, he always leaves me alone," he stared at me, his blue orbs looking at me in a questioning way," I'm sure we had a blast last night but sorry sweetheart, I don't date.” he said removing his hand from my hands.

“Killian, what happened to you? Why are you being like this?” I asked puzzled by his odd behavior.

“Lady, please stop talking. I can't even hear myself think, you're too loud,” he responded closing his eyes and rubbing his temples.

“Why are you doing this? Is this a prank or Is it because of the photo? I wasn't cheating on you, Kilian. I should've talked to you in the office–” Killian cut me off telling me to shush.

“Could you please give me some moment to think? I'm trying to think what I drunk that got me to pass out,” said Killian, deep in thought.

Confused by Killian's odd behavior, I stood up to call his doctor and took my phone out of my pocket to call Killian's dad. I felt like he needed to know first because Victoria would be sleeping by now. I texted Leo, Nicole, and Jason about the good news. I was sure Killian was pranking me and I intended on calling on his family and see if he still joked about not knowing who I was.

It didn't take long before Dr. Mark arrived at Killian's room, followed by Killian's parents, Daniel, Jason, Nicole, and Leo. I got into Killian's room followed by a whole crowd that was so eager to see Killian. Leo got close to me whispering he had something to tell me as the doctor ordered Killian to move his limbs.

“Do you know why you are here?” asked Dr. Mark, taking a notebook and a pen from his white gown.

“I probably passed out drunk, I don't really remember. But I know," he searched right and left for something," it was somebody's fault that I am in a hospital bed instead of my home,” he said, finding a magazine by the bedside and throwing it at Jason.

“I missed you so much, man!” said Jason picking up the magazine that slapped him in the chest.

“You don't remember anything other than that?” asked the doctor jotting something as the rest of us waited patiently.

“Lia, come with me. I have something important to tell you,” said Leo dragging me out of the room his voice barely above a whisper and nobody noticed as everyone was preoccupied with Killian's medical examination.

“More important than Killian?” I asked Leo wanting to go back to Killian eager to see Killian admit that he was pranking me.

“The person who leaked the proposal was Katherine Holmes. That's what he told me after thirty minutes of thinking. I also–” I cut him off.

“I know it was Katherine Leo, she admitted it was her but I have no evidence to prove what she admitted,” I replied frustrated that I couldn't do anything to her.

“If you could've let me finish, I have footage of Katherine meeting Thomas, my employee, in a cafe and handing him a file. We could use that to press charges against her for breach of confidentiality, she could end up in jail for this. I will tell Daniel about this and the Raushan company can get her to be denied at every job application she could ever have.” finished Leo telling me about the fall of my real bully.

“Thank you so much, Leo! I wouldn't know what to do without you.” I thanked Leo hugging him for helping me give Katherine what she deserved.

We broke the hug when we heard the door open and Dr. Mark leave the room. I entered the room noticing everyone quietly talk among themselves, there was some tension but I didn't know what it was. I looked at Nicole if she could give me a hint as to what was going on, but she just looked down at her legs unable to meet my eyes.

“Killian, how are you feeling now?” I asked squatting beside his bed as he stared at me irritated.

“I don't know who this woman is! Why is everyone just letting her bother me like this? I have a huge headache and she's been blabbering non-stop ever since I woke up! Who are you lady?” asked Killian making me slap my hands on my face in shock.

Nicole approached me helping me stand as I complied too shocked to even protest as she took me away from Killian and then out of the room. I shook my head in denial of the ugly, uncensored truth that stood right before me.

“He doesn't know who I am, Nicole, he forgot who I am...” I said still shaking my head in denial although the truth was slowly sinking in.

“The doctor said it is only temporary, he will regain his memories soon enough. You will see, he will recover in no time,” said Nicole trying to make me believe that he will remember me.

Killian wasn't pranking me, he really forgot who I am. He thinks of me as no one, as nothing more than a mere stranger. I mean nothing to Killian anymore. I wasn't even his secretary. I was a random face in the crowd of women he has slept with. I was a moment that had been wiped out of his memory.

To Killian, I was just a blur, a fleeting moment of nothingness.
