25. Married Couple Mission

Alex's face, which had been full of anger, gradually melted away. He was holding back the burning turmoil when Irene's hand touched his possession. It was indeed something delicious.

But...

"You think it's that easy to immobilize me?" snapped Alex, turning Irene's body upside down and slamming her against the wall. She also locked the movement of the woman's hands.

Then Alex pulled something out of her blazer pocket. Bang! Bang! He fired at every angle of the surveillance camera, startling both the barista and Jeff.

"This is also a warning shot. Or it will miss you!" Alex screamed at them.

Then, the man placed the gun on the side of Irene's forehead. There was no denying that the woman was struggling to breathe. Her body was shaking.

"You're looking for the wrong opponent, Madame Irene," Alex whispered.

Irene was trying to swallow her saliva in a throat that now felt very dry. Her life was over once the gun was pulled. As crazy as Irene was, she wasn't ready to die either.

"You're looking for the wrong opponent, Alex." Irene tried to find a defense.

"I'm the wrong one? Huh?!" shouted Alex in anger.

Irene's cheek pressed even more against the wall. "I was just working on an assignment from an anonymous client. I haven't intruded into your life, let alone your business even though I know about it."

"How much do you know and how much did you tell your anonymous client?!"

"I told you that I only said that you were a drug dealer. You're dealing with it," Irene shouted between annoyance and fear that the man would pull the trigger.

"That's it?!"

"Then you also got dumped by Celine."

That sentence instantly made Alex lose his strength slowly. He began to weaken as his heartbeat became unstable.

"Celine? Why that name..."

That weakness was well utilized by Irene, who immediately parried Alex's hand so that the gun was knocked out of his hand. Jeff immediately secured it.

"You're nothing without your gun," Irene chuckled.

Meanwhile, the man was still stunned. Not because he felt bad without a weapon but Celine's name made him find a suspicion.

"Wait!"

"What?!"

"Is it possible that Celine is your anonymous client?"

Irene almost laughed out loud because she was just casually talking about an anonymous client. After all, the real client was the police.

Irene cleared her throat. "How would I know?"

Alex let out a short breath. "Fine. Let's work together."

Irene chuckled. "You even wanted to kill me just now and then, within minutes wanted to work with me?" He grinned. "How can I believe that?!"

"Of course, it's easy to make you believe."

"Really?"

"With money."

Irene grinned. Even without money, Irene had also gotten a golden opportunity when she was asked to cooperate with him. If that was the case, Irene would get more chances to help her husband's investigation.

Sometimes, we need to be part of our enemy.

Irene had also been thinking for a long time about joining Alex. The reason is it will not be easy, although she is still trying to find a way. However, the gods seemed to be on her side.

"How much are you willing to pay?" challenged Irene.

"Anything under twenty thousand dollars."

"Did you gather everything?" Danni whispered to Ben.

Ben held up his thumb. "All the powders, candies, and masks."

"Good job. Let's wait for the latest dismissal time." Danni looked at her watch.

"But what if it turns out that the drugs are in an unexpected form?" Ben confirmed as he took off the uniform vest of the warehouse staff.

"It must be there. But, after we went to the crime scene a few times, the objects we had set aside contained drugs. So, it's better to confirm something definite first and then look further." Danni tapped his partner on the shoulder.

As the warehouse quieted down, both wore hoodie jackets. They pulled over to a place where there were no surveillance cameras to stuff the items into the pockets of their jackets, pants torsos, and hats.

"Let's go!" Danni moved first after checking the situation casually like nothing had happened.

The two of them walked casually so as not to be suspected. The warehouse was so large that their footsteps never reached the outside, making their hearts beat faster.

A huge bombshell hit both of them when Madame Cassandra suddenly appeared in the middle of the warehouse, which was starting to dim as the lights started to turn off.

"Oh, Joshua!"

Danni tried to calm down while Ben looked quite panicked.

"Are you going home?" asked Madame Cassandra in her melodious voice.

"Yes, of course, we're going home soon."

"Can we talk for a minute?"

Danni gave a glance to Ben, who immediately understood the situation, so he excused himself.

The atmosphere became awkward. There were still a few people in the warehouse but because the place was large. They seemed to be separated.

"What did you want to talk about, Madame?" Danni broke the silence.

"Fuck me!"

"Yeah?" was Danni's surprise.

Then the woman burst out laughing. She then walked into the aisle of the warehouse. "I was just joking. Sometimes people say that when they want to get close."

"Ah? I don't know about that trend."

"You've worked hard. A handsome man like you shouldn't have to do manual labor like this," he said holding up the items around him, then turned around with a seductive smile.

"Then what position should I be in, Madame?"

"Do you want to be promoted, right?"

"If the opportunity arises, I would like to," Danni said, seizing the moment because, with a promotion, she might discover more about Alex Matthew.

Madame Cassandra moved closer until the tips of their shoes met. She took Danni's hand, directing it to the chest hidden under the blouse-less blazer.

Danni widened her eyes.

Cassandra laughed. "Are you surprised? Big and perky, aren't they?"

"What are you doing?!" Danni was a little out of her element. She was a bit of a jerk.

"I want to get you promoted."

"Looks like I'm going to enjoy my moment in the warehouse."

Danni's move was stopped by Cassandra, who pulled his hand so that he was facing her again. Quickly, she brought her lips to his. When they almost touched, Danni turned her face to the side.

"Sorry, Madame. I don't want an instant gratification."
