10. Investigation Discussion
Even in her waking state, Irene looked so sexy in a cream-colored satin nightgown, displaying some of her ample breasts. Irene's long blonde hair looked disheveled, making her even more seductive. She walked to the kitchen to drink some mineral water.
Irene was as charming as a Victoria's Secret model. Everything was perfect. There were no gaps except for her attitude which was sometimes beyond reason.
This morning Irene was in high spirits despite having been finished off by Danni in bed last night. But that was the trigger for her enthusiasm. It had been a long time since Danni had worked on her latest case. Irene then moved to make breakfast for Danni who was still asleep.
While humming, Irene made Bagel and lox for her idol's breakfast. Bagel and Lox is a classic breakfast menu that was first introduced by Polish immigrants. It was immediately accepted and popular in America. Bagel and lox consist of bread topped with lox, which is smoked salmon meat, then cream cheese, tomatoes, and sliced red onions.
"My dear? Are you awake?" Irene gasped right after arranging the food on the plate.
She put the plate on the table and walked over to Danni, giving her a morning kiss on the lips. Irene's smile was the sunshine in Danni's morning.
"Good morning, dear," Irene said. "Let's have breakfast! You haven't had any of my homemade food in a while, right?"
"Hm. I've missed it so much. What are you cooking, beautiful?"
"Sit down."
They sat facing each other at the dining table.
Danni's eyes lit up. She immediately savored her angel's bagel and lox. "Wow! You know what? Today was the perfect breakfast after all the time I slept in the office."
"Really? You're not bragging, are you?"
"How can you brag? First, you wake up in the morning and greet me with a morning kiss. Then, you make me this delicious meal. It's perfect, isn't it?"
Irene couldn't help herself. Her white cheeks were reddish. She blushed at her husband's praise. They continued their breakfast in peace like a new couple.
But a ring from Danni's cell phone broke up the harmonious breakfast. Danni took a sip of mineral water for a moment before answering the call.
"Hm. Yes?" Danni seemed to be listening to what was being said from the other side while Irene ate breakfast while watching her husband.
"What's wrong?" asked Irene in confirmation as her husband hung up the phone call.
"Someone died again."
Irene closed her mouth, which was gaping in astonishment. She was also surprised by her husband's flat response to the news. Could it be that he was used to it?
"Because of those dangerous drugs?" Irene confirmed her assumption again.
Danni nodded.
"Do you have to go?"
"Yes. But I can still finish the food my wife makes." Danni's smile spread beautifully, soothing Irene's heart. "My men are already in place. It's not my shift anyway, although I have to be there later."
Irene nodded in understanding. "Then continue eating, dear."
"Of course." Danni continued her breakfast activities again.
"You guys didn't go to the mart I told you about?" Irene was curious.
"Not yet."
Irene widened her eyes. "Why? It's not because you don't trust me, is it?"
"What do you mean? I trust you."
"Why haven't you come there yet?"
"It's not something simple, Irene. Of course, such items cannot be freely distributed. They must have kept it in a warehouse or something. To accomplish all that, we need to do infiltration and disguise." Danni explained gently. "Therefore, today, we will finalize the plan that we roughly organized after you told us."
Irene nodded in understanding. It turned out that there were a lot of operational standards before acting. She got up with the dirty dishes.
But Danni suddenly remembered something.
"Irene," he called as his wife put the plate into the sink.
"Yeah?" Irene quickly returned with two glasses of mineral water, handing one to Danni.
"You didn't see anything else suspicious from Alex's memory?"
Irene's eyes widened. The question made her nervous because she didn't know for sure what she had seen from Alex's memory. There were many things in there. But Irene wasn't focused because she was caught up in the way Alex was holding her.
Irene then looked at Danni. "I'm not sure. I only touched her briefly. That's why I needed more reconnaissance, but you told me not to."
"Of course. You have no idea how dangerous he is."
Irene nodded awkwardly, then she thought to herself. "Yes, Alex is so dangerous that it almost satisfies me."
"Even so, the clues you got were useful, Irene," Danni said praising his wife's hard work sincerely. "By the way..."
"Yeah?" Irene put the glass down on the table.
"How did you manage to trap him? I mean, how did you get your hands on Alex Matthew?" Danni rubbed his chin. "Alex is a cruel and cold man. Of course, it's not that easy to touch him. I also understand why you only touched him briefly. But, how could you touch him even for a moment?"
"That..." Irene was searching for the right sentence.
"You know what? Another team once tried to get into Alex Matthew's world by sending a prostitute to Alex, but ended up dead."
"What?" Irene was shocked.
"That's why I told you not to interfere."
"So, he's that dangerous?"
"Of course he is. What do you think he's selling? Drugs. If he's already selling drugs like that, he won't play softly." Danni explained and gave a warning. "Someone who does that kind of business will do everything they can to throw off their inhibitions!"
Irene was stunned into silence as she digested her husband's words. She also tried to remember Alex's flash of memory that she had read but could not read because it was only glimpsed at that time.
"Then how did you do it?"
"Me?" Irene was shocked. "I-I... you know? I just disguised myself as a waiter, then spilled him a drink."
"He didn't get mad?"
"I don't know for sure. Alex did have a cold face, but he didn't say anything. From what I read, Alex was heartbroken. Alex was dumped. He was left by his girlfriend after a fiery night." Irene shuddered. "I can't imagine how devastated that city must be."
"You saw the memory of being dumped?"
"Of course. It was the first memory I saw when I touched him."
Danni leaned back in the chair with her arms crossed. "I can't believe he's a love slave."
After breakfast and a little chat, Danni changed into a casual denim outfit to get to work. Irene helped her husband put on his jacket.
"I'll go first, dear." Danni kissed Irene's lips.
"You have to be careful."
Danni rubbed Irene's cheek. "I'll miss you."
"Me too."
Danni put on his sneakers, waved goodbye to Irene, and opened the door.
"Ah, Danni!" Irene exclaimed.
The call made Danni enter the house again. "What's wrong?"
"I almost forgot."
"What?"
"Yesterday, a woman asked for a tarot reading. After I touched her hand, she was Alex Matthew's aunt."
Danni's eyes, which had been sparkling, suddenly tightened. She widened her eyes in frost. "W-what? Seriously?"
