Chapter 25
Selina retraced her steps in panic, fear gripping every inch of her. She looked so lost like she had just seen a ghost. The look on Felix’s face was a predatory one, one that scared her..
“Selina.. Selina” Felix had called out several times but Selina was lost for a moment. It took Felix shaking her shoulders abit fir her to regain awareness.
“Selina” Felix called out one more time.
Looking into Felix's eyes, which appeared to engulf her completely, Selina's heart raced. An overwhelming sense of dread overcame her, and her instinct told her to run. But as fast as the darkness had engulfed him, Felix's look softened into concern.
"Selina, are you alright?" he asked, his voice gentle as he reached out a hand to steady her.
She nodded, trying to compose herself. "I... I think so. It's just... I don't know what came over me."
Felix gave her a reassuring smile, though his eyes still held a hint of something Selina couldn't quite place. "Perhaps it's just the remnants of your illness," he suggested. "You've been through a lot lately. Maybe it's playing tricks on your mind."
Selina wanted to believe him. She wanted to chalk it up to her recent sickness, but the memory of the red marks on her ankle refused to be ignored. She had felt Felix's gaze on her, cold and calculating, and it had sent shivers down her spine. But now, he seemed so caring, so concerned for her well-being.
"I suppose you're right," she murmured, though doubt still lingered in the back of her mind.
As they sat in silence, Selina couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. She glanced down at her ankle, where the red marks had now faded into faint bruises. Felix noticed her gaze and reached out to touch her leg, his fingers trailing lightly over the discolored skin.
"Does it still hurt?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine concern.
Selina shook her head. "No, not really. It's fine. It's just strange." Selina looked at Felix and then continued. “Last night, it felt like someone grabbed my leg. I felt someone's touch on it. I know exactly what I felt. I didn't fall or anything.” Selina said, looking scared.
Felix nodded sympathetically. "I understand. But I think it would be best if we got you checked out at the hospital, just to be safe."
Selina hesitated, unsure of what to do. Part of her wanted to trust Felix, to believe that he had her best interests at heart. But another part of her couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over her since the previous night.
As they drove to the hospital, Selina couldn't shake the feeling of tension that hung in the air between them. Felix tried to make small talk, but his words felt empty, like he was trying to distract her from something.
Finally, they arrived at the hospital, and Selina was ushered into a room to await examination. As she sat on the edge of the bed, her mind raced with questions. What had really happened the previous night? Was it really a dream? And why did Felix seem so determined to convince her that it was all just a dream?
Before she could dwell on it any longer, a doctor entered the room, snapping her out of her thoughts. He examined her ankle, asking her a series of questions about her symptoms and how she was feeling.
After what felt like an eternity, the doctor finished his examination and turned to Felix. "It looks like she's going to be fine," he said, his tone reassuring. "It's just a minor sprain. She'll need to take it easy for a few days, but there's no serious damage."
Felix let out a sigh of relief, his shoulders sagging with the weight of tension. "Thank you, doctor. That's a relief to hear."
As they left the hospital, Selina couldn't shake the feeling of unease that still lingered in the pit of her stomach. She glanced over at Felix, who was now driving with a determined expression set on his face.
Felix glanced over at her, his expression softening. "Everything's fine, Selina. You're going to be okay."
But despite his reassurances, Selina couldn't shake the feeling that something was very wrong. She couldn't shake the memory of Felix's dark gaze, or the feeling of fear that had washed over her in its wake.
As they arrived back at Felix's apartment, Selina's mind raced with questions. She needed answers, and she needed them now.
"Felix," she began, her voice trembling slightly. "I need to talk to you about something."
Felix turned to face her, concern etched into his features. "Of course, Selina. What's on your mind?"
Selina took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "I need to know what really happened last night. I need to know why I woke up with those marks on my ankle, and why you seem so determined to convince me that it was all just a dream."
Felix's expression faltered for a moment, his eyes flickering with something that Selina couldn't quite place. But then, just as quickly, it was gone, replaced by a mask of concern.
"Selina, I swear to you, it was just a dream," he insisted, his voice firm. "You were sick remember? And your mind was playing tricks on you. There's nothing to worry about."
But Selina wasn't convinced. She had felt Felix's gaze on her, dark and menacing, and she couldn't shake the feeling that he was hiding something from her.
Something struck Selina. Felix's voice sounded alike with her intruder’s voice. Could it be that it's the same person?
For a moment, there was silence as Selina stared at him, her expression unreadable.
"Selina, you have to trust me," Felix said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I would never do anything to hurt you. You mean everything to me."
But even after hearing what he said, Selina was unable to get rid of the doubt that was still present in the back of her mind. She wanted to accept that he was doing things in her best interests. But something about the intensity of his gaze, something about his voice, something about his presence, something about the way he stared at her, made her question whether or not she could really trust him..
“I can trust you?” Selina asked. Her voice barely above a whisper as she looked into Felix's eyes.
