Chapter 26
Felix observed the subtle hint of mistrust in Selina's eyes as she maintained a guarded expression. He was aware that in order to win her trust, he would need to proceed cautiously. With a warm and comforting voice, he leaned in and softly put his hand on her arm.
"Selina, I can see you're worried. But your health is important, and I only want what's best for you," Felix said, his tone earnest. "I have a friend who's a doctor. I think it would be a good idea for us to pay him a visit. Just to make sure everything's alright."
Selina hesitated, her mind racing with doubt. But beneath the layers of suspicion, a glimmer of hope sparked within her. She knew she couldn't ignore Felix's concern, no matter how wary she felt.
"Alright, Felix. I'll go," Selina finally relented, her voice tinged with uncertainty. "But I'm not making any promises."
Felix nodded, his expression filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Selina. I promise you won't regret it. And yes, you can trust me. I won't do anything to hurt you" Felix said.
As they made their way to the doctor's office, Felix tried distrating her with talks, his words a carefully made to lower Selina's guard. He talked about everything and nothing, from the weather to their latest job, all the while keeping a close eye on Selina's reactions.
But nothing worked. He knew he were walking into a dangerous situation, one that could spell disaster if Selina realised the truth before time.
Selina was clearly nervous as they pulled up to the private clinic. Her discomfort was heightened by the hospital environment, and Felix realized he needed to move quickly to prevent her from running away.
And to make it worse, she was the only patient. “Felix, why am I the only patient available?” Selina asked, confusion filled her voice.
Felix plastered on a reassuring smile, though his heart raced with uncertainty. "It's just a quiet day at the clinic, Selina. Nothing to worry about."
"Felix, I don't like this," Selina muttered, her voice barely above a whisper. "There's something off about this place”.
"Selina, I know this place looks a bit intimidating, but trust me, my friend is the best in the business," Felix said, his voice laced with conviction. "You're in good hands."
But Selina remained unconvinced, her eyes darting around the empty waiting room with suspicion. "I don't know, Felix. Something doesn't feel right about this."
Felix's heart sank at the hint of doubt in Selina's voice. He knew he had to find a way to put her at ease, or risk losing her trust for good.
"Listen, Selina. I understand you're worried, but I wouldn't bring you here if I didn't trust my friend," Felix said, his tone gentle yet firm. "Let's just see what he has to say, alright? We can always leave if you're not comfortable."
Reluctantly, Selina nodded, her shoulders stiff with fear. As they were brought inside Dr. George's office, Selina's anxiety only intensified. Her suspicions were growing, despite the doctor's composed manner. She looked closely at his face, trying to find some sign of familiarity. However, Dr. George's expression stayed neutral and revealed nothing.
Selina's eyes widened in surprise at the sight of the doctor standing before them. "Felix, isn't that...?"
"I'm afraid I don't recall ever meeting you before, Miss Selina," Dr. George said, his voice smooth as silk. "But please, have a seat. Let's discuss your concerns."
Felix cut in, his voice smooth as silk. "Selina, meet Dr. George. He's the best in the business, just like I promised."
Selina's suspicion went wild at the mention of Dr. George's name, but she pushed it aside, unwilling to give in to her doubts. With a forced smile, she extended her hand in greeting, though her grip was stiff with apprehension.
She knew she had met him before. She just wasn't sure where.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Dr. George," Selina said, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Dr. George returned her handshake with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Likewise, Miss Selina. Please, have a seat. Let's discuss your concerns.”
Selina exchanged a wary glance with Felix before reluctantly taking a seat. She couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right. But before she could voice her concerns, Dr. George launched into a detailed explanation of her symptoms, his words weaving a hypnotic spell around her.
As Dr. George spoke, Felix watched Selina closely, his mind racing with conflicting emotions. He knew he had to tread carefully if his plan was to succeed. But seeing Selina under Dr. George's influence stirred something deep within him—a twinge of guilt that threatened to unravel everything.
"You see, Miss Selina," Dr. George continued, his voice laced with a hint of authority, "your illness and anxiety have been causing these hallucinations. But fear not, for I have a solution."
Selina's brow furrowed in confusion as she struggled to make sense of Dr. George's words. She felt herself slipping further into his grasp, the boundaries between reality and illusion blurring with each passing moment.
Felix watched in silence as Dr. George proposed his solution—a treatment involving hypnosis. His heart clenched with uncertainty, torn between his loyalty to the organization and his growing concern for Selina's well-being.
"But what if it doesn't work?" Selina asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Dr. George smiled reassuringly. "Trust me, Miss Selina. I've treated many patients with similar symptoms, and they've all seen remarkable improvement."
Selina hesitated, her gaze flickering between Felix and Dr. George. She knew she was teetering on the edge of a precipice, unsure of whether to trust the man before her or heed the warning bells ringing in her mind.
"Felix, I don't know..." Selina began, her voice trailing off.
But before she could voice her doubts, Felix cut in, his tone firm. "Selina, trust Dr. George. He's the best in the business. You'll feel better after the treatment, I promise."
Reluctantly, Selina nodded, her resolve faltering in the face of Felix's unwavering assurance. With a heavy heart, she allowed herself to be led into the depths of Dr. George's hypnotic trance, the world around her fading into darkness.
As Selina fell into a deep sleep, Felix turned to Dr. George, his expression inscrutable. "You're sure this will work, George?"
Dr. George nodded, his eyes gleaming with confidence. "Yes, it will work.”
As Selina slipped deeper into the hypnotic trance induced by Dr. George, her breathing slowed, and her features softened into a peaceful slumber. With a satisfied nod, Dr. George turned to Felix, his expression grave.
"Felix, I must admit, I have reservations about your plan," Dr. George began, his voice low and measured. "Imprisoning Selina is a risky endeavor, one that could have serious repercussions for both of us."
Felix's jaw clenched with frustration at Dr. George's hesitation. He had expected resistance, but he hadn't anticipated the depth of the doctor's disapproval.
"George, this is personal business. I dont pay you to decide what's good and what's not.," Felix said, his leaving no space for argument.
Dr. George's expression softened slightly, though the doubt still lingered in his eyes. "I understand. Felix. But imprisoning Selina is too much. What if she doesn't stay as you think she will? What if she preferred if you had woo’d her the right way?
Felix sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. He knew Dr. George was right, but he couldn't afford to let his emotions cloud his judgment—not when so much was at stake.
"George, I appreciate your input, but this is something I have to do," Felix said, his voice tinged with determination. "I'll do whatever it takes to have and keep her, even if it means taking drastic measures."
"George, I appreciate your concern, but this is something I have to do," Felix said, his voice firm. "Trust me, it's for the best."
With a heavy heart, Felix turned away from Dr. George, his mind awash with conflicting emotions. He knew he was walking a dangerous path, one that could lead to ruin if he wasn't careful. But for better or worse, he was committed to seeing his plan through to the end. Making sure she's his.
