Chapter 11
Three days later, Selina's phone notified her to the fact that the jewelry design firm she had met with had sent her an email. Her heart raced as she cautiously opened it and noticed each line verifying her acceptance into the internship program. The knowledge that her dreams were finally coming true made her heart rush with joy.
Excited, Selina hurried over to her friend and roommate Amara, who was thrilled to hear the good news. Amara was crouched over her desk, sulking as she looked through her textbooks, when Selina came into their shared dorm room.
"Amara!" Selina exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement. "You won't believe it—I got the internship! I'm going to be working at the jewelry design company!"
Amara raised her head from her books and saw Selina's smiling face. Her expression changed from stress to happiness. She continued, "Oh my goodness, Selina, that's incredible!" and jumped from her chair to give her friend a bear hug. "I'm so happy for you!"
Selina smiled, a surge of gratitude for her encouraging friend. She said, "Thank you, Amara," in an emotional voice. "I couldn't have done it without your encouragement."
Amara's smile faltered as they released each other from the hug, her eyes glistening with unseen tears. "I'm going to miss you so much," she said, her words becoming stuck in her throat. "However, I swear, I'll come see you whenever I can. I will assist you with moving to the new address.
Though upset by the idea of leaving her friend behind, Selina found comfort in Amara's constant encouragement. She gently murmured, "Thank you, Amara," and reached out to squeeze her friend's hand. "Your friendship means the world to me."
As Selina and Amara packed, laughed as they reflected on their time together, sharing stories of adventures and future visits, but also acknowledging the painful reality that their paths were going to part.
Selina's joy was obvious as she hurriedly made arrangements to move into the furnished apartment. They reached the flat, a small but cozy place, with Amara by her side, prepared to begin this new phase of Selina's adventure.
They found the address provided and eventually arrived at the building. Selina's eyes flashed with anticipation as they entered the room at the thought of claiming the space as her own. But when Amara started to organize her things, she couldn't help but see that Selina was acting a little uncomfortable.
"Is everything okay, Selina?" Amara asked, her eyebrows furrowing in worry at her friend's glazed look.
The knowledge that she was the only intern residing in the flat caused Selina to halt, allowing her thoughts to wander for a while. "I simply wasn't expecting to be the only one around," she said, sounding a little surprised. "I thought there would be other interns sharing the space with me."
With a comforting smile, Amara nodded thoughtfully. Her tone was hopeful as she said, "It is a bit unexpected, but think of it as having the place all to yourself. You'll have plenty of space to spread out and make it feel like home."
Selina's mood improved at Amara's encouragement, and the two of them got to work moving the furniture and unpacking. Laughter filled the air as they passed through the rooms, removing any last doubts or anxieties.
Even though she was surprised to find herself alone in the flat, Selina took solace in her friend's company. She knew that no matter what obstacles were in her way, Amara would be there to support her. Selina and Amara preoccupied themselves with unloading and furnishing the apartment, completely unaware of the intrusion on her privacy.
A day later, with her attention focused on her upcoming internship, Selina was walking through the supermarket aisles. She was so absorbed in her own thoughts that she nearly missed the familiar figure exploring the surrounding shelves.
A charming voice from behind said, "Selina, surprise seeing you here," and she turned around in shock.
She was shocked to see Felix standing there, a sly smile playing at the edges of his lips as he watched her reaction. Selina, caught by this unexpected encounter, couldn't help but smile back at him despite her first horror.
"Felix, wow, that was unexpected," she said in a curious tone. "What brings you to the supermarket?"
Felix laughed a little, amusement glimmering in his eyes. "Just picking up a few things," he said nonchalantly, but his eyes betrayed some mischievous intent. "How about you? Are you purchasing supplies for your upcoming cooking creation?"
At the idea of cooking, Selina's impression of Felix softened slightly, and her eyebrows shot up in astonishment. "You cook?" she asked, unable to hold back her curiosity.
Felix smiled, his eyes shining with pride. "Indeed I do," he answered, a hint of humor in his voice. "I consider myself to be fairly skilled about food. To be honest, I can make a mean risotto on occasion."
Selina noticed Felix's sudden attitude and couldn't help but be charmed by it. "Well, consider me impressed," she responded, twitching her lips in a playful manner. "I had no idea you were so skilled in the kitchen."
As they talked more, Selina found herself pulled to Felix in a way she hadn't expected. She could not resist the warmth and charm that lay beneath his professional exterior, despite it being far from her.
Felix flashed a lovely smile on Selina as they strolled towards the parking lot. He gestured to the groceries she was carrying and asked, "Do you need a hand with those bags?"
Though taken aback by his offer, Selina hesitated briefly before expressing her gratitude for the help. "Yes, that would be amazing," she answered, passing him a couple of the heavier bags.
They had a smooth discussion about everything from their common love of travel to their favorite foods as they made their way to Felix's car. Selina was captivated to Felix's laid-back demeanor and sincere interest in her, which caused her to open up to him in a way she hadn't anticipated.
When they got to the car, Felix opened the passenger door for Selina and skillfully placed the goods in the trunk. "After you," he murmured, winking playfully, his mischievous eyes sparkling.
As she took a seat next to him, Selina couldn't suppress her excitement at the thought of hanging out with Felix more. Upon exiting the parking lot and entering the road, the atmosphere in the car was charged with anticipation, both of them swimming in the newfound connection between them.
Felix couldn't help but notice Selina's beaming smile as she talked about her favorite ice cream flavors while they were driving. With humor in his voice, he asked, "You really are obsessed with ice cream, aren't you?"
With a laugh, Selina happily nodded. "Oh, definitely," she answered, her eager eyes glimmering. "There's just something so comforting about indulging in a sweet treat, especially on a warm day like today."
Felix's eyes were already on Selina's lips, looking at the ice cream that had the pleasure of being there before him. He stared intently, his need to place his lips on her getting overwhelming on him. As Selina felt his stare, she turned and faced him and couldn't believe the intensity of his stare on her.
