Chapter 89 Rub My Belly... Please
Chapter 89 Rub My Belly... Please
Mikhail was momentarily lost in a trance, repeating Serah's name over and over again in his head.
Her name sounded smooth and alive, like a new leaf blossoming on a lake.
Until his trail of trance was cut off when he felt a soft touch on his cheeks.
His blue eyes pierced into her black ones.
"Mikey, Mikey!!" She chanted, making the nickname roll over her lips like she had found her favourite new word.
A frown edged on his forehead, "What are you calling me?" His asked rather harshly.
She had no respect and with her legs still wrapped around his waist, she was crossing boundaries!
"Mikey. Mikhail," she shook her head saying, "doesn't sound right. It's bland. But Mikey," her face brightened, "sounds so cute and good. You have cute features okay? so stop trying to harden your face every time."
"You're presumptuous. You don't even know who I am and you're speaking to me like you know me. What if I killed you right now and then?"
She laughed, her cheeks turning bright pink, "well, that means you saved me for nothing. Your hard work would go to waste.
And also, I'm a good judge of character. You are not a bad man, Mikhail. My instincts are never wrong. You are my soulmate, so stop being rude and admonishing my advances okay?"
She pouted, staring at him with a slight frustration in her eyes.
He was a bit difficult, yes. But she wasn't backing down.
Mikhail was totally frozen. His ears still stuck at one word she had said, 'soulmate.'
His chest tightened like something was trying to fill the hole in his chest but it disappeared quickly.
What fucking soulmate? This girl was totally nuts.
His hands shot out to push her away but she screamed,
"Ah! Wait don't throw me off your body. I'm injured. My whole body is in pain. Those guards hit me too much against my stomach. It burns when I laugh, talk or make a sound. Could you rub it for me? I know you have magic hands." She whined like a little girl wishing he would just rub her protectively like a boyfriend would do.
Her stomach was seriously aching so badly and she already liked him so much she was starting to doubt what she felt.
It was weird, yes but she knew what she felt. If she could feel his warm hands on her belly she knew the intense pain would subside. Only a touch was what she needed.
"Guards? You were hit by guards?" His voice carried a palpable venomous edge that made her tremble on his laps. Then as if possessed by a demon his tone lowered,
"Who hurt you?"
A weak smile playing on Serah's lips, she shook her head, "I don't know." A ripple of frightful shiver swam over her body when painful memories of her torture resurfaced in her head.
Forgetting what he lived for, his muscles strained, fingers surprisingly holding her steady on his laps, "Do you know their names? Or rather know where they are right now?"
Serah didn't want to think about it.
"For what, Mikey? I don't want to think about it. I still get frightened whenever I think about them," then her face brightened, "wait, do you care about me, now?"
"No." Came his quick flat response "I've gotten your full name. Very soon you would be sent back to your family, I wanted to know so I could inform the police about it."
Serah heard his response and her face fell. Well... She had no family. She was an orphan.
But of course she didn't tell him that. She wanted to know his next steps when he found that out.
However, she whined again, tears stinging her eyes now, "If you think you're helping me, then you're not. If you truly want to help me, you would rub my belly as I've told you. It hurts, Mikey. It hurts so much. I think I'm going to die already. So rub it for me please..."
Mikhail stared down at her, his jaw tightening into a hard, rigid line.
For a split second, when he heard her say that there were some guards who had hurt her, a strange, dark venom morphed into his blood but he was quick to kill it off.
He didn't want to care. He didn't care
Now she was whining and all of that.
"Stop talking nonsense," he muttered, his voice dropping into a freezing baritone.
He looked down at her small hands still wrapped around his neck, and then at her legs completely wrapped around his waist.
It was annoying to him how easily she crossed his boundaries. Remembering his hands were still holding her steady, he let it fall to his side like they were never there.
"I am not a doctor, and I am not your boyfriend." He said his blue eyes turning completely unreadable and cold.
"If your stomach hurts, stay still and shut up. Crying and whining like a brat will only make it hurt more."
He didn't reach down to rub her belly.
He wouldn't let his hands mimic the warmth she was begging for.
He just sat there like an unmoving block of ice, letting the chasm in his chest swallow up whatever childish hope was shining in her eyes.
"Fine," she grumbled under her breath stilling herself not to cry.
Since he wasn't going to rub her belly for her, she wasn't going to push further and neither straddle him anymore.
She climbed down from him with shaky legs and strode to the bed.
Climbing into the bed, she grabbed the heavy duvet, pulling it up her shoulders and turned to her side.
Her voice small and soft, she said, "You said this is your room but I'm not leaving. I'm sleeping here. Don't chase me away."
Then she turned back, not looking into his eyes and hearing whatever he had to say. That is, if he even wanted to say anything.
Even if he was a cold block of ice, she wasn't going to let him go easily.
She would melt him completely and he would be head over heels for her.
But for now her stomach was hurting badly she could only inhale his lingering cinnamon scent on the mattress, sheet and duvet.
