Chapter 81 Daisy Is Missing
Chapter 81 Daisy Is Missing
Isabella's whole body froze.
Not momentarily. Like really froze, like an ice-block.
She couldn't even breathe. Her whole body grew tense.
Her mind ran a long series of anxiety.
Then her heart thrummed like a loud drum once.
Then twice, before it began beating like a war drum.
She swallowed down a thick ball of nerves that clawed at her throat.
Her ears began ringing, goosebumps forming at her skin.
Then she gasped loudly. Her stomach was twisting painfully hard.
Daisy was a piece of her soul. A piece of her life and the sole reason why she still struggled to keep on pushing into this cruel world.
Her blood began burning hot. Not from any other thing but from anger. Fear. Anxiety. And rage.
The rest of the maid's words were muffled like they were underwater.
She didn't hesitate a second more. Her legs moved faster than her.
She began checking everywhere in the mansion again.
From her room. She checked under the bed, the bathroom. No sign of Daisy.
She moved through the hallways searching every corner of the rooms like a madwoman. The harsh air was hitting at her skin because of her flimsy clothing but she didn't care. More like it didn't affect her.
After a whole series of running up and down, searching every nook and cranny corner of the rooms, still not fucking sign of Daisy.
She drew a harsh breath through her teeth.
Her chest was rising and falling too fast.
Her heart was slamming so hard it hurt, pounding in her ears and making her vision pulse at the edges.
Her legs felt unsteady, almost weak from running up and down the mansion, and a dull ache had settled deep in her muscles.
Every single soul that lived in this mansion was fucking missing. The maids were irrelevant to her.
Even Ma Elizaveta.
She closed her eyes for a few seconds, reigning her anger down to avoid tearing down the mansion.
But no!
Daisy was fucking missing and she couldn't keep calm for a second. She couldn't even get a calm breathing from her nose.
She would have to find Daisy by herself.
She ran out of the main entrance door, reaching for the gates when the useless guards stopped her.
"You're not allowed to leave miss." A guard who held a gun by the holster tucked in his waist answered. Rather rudely.
Isabella didn't try to reason with them, she kept on forcing her way out but they didn't let her.
Talking about some bosses bullshit and she didn't give a bloody fuck.
She picked up pebbles of stones, aiming at the guards but they still stood against her, blocking her part.
She threw heavier stones that sliced across the skin of their faces, "Hey, let me through! My sister is missing, I need to find her. Let me Go!!!" She screamed above the lungs, throwing all the heavy stones at all the guards at once.
"You're not allowed to leave Miss." Their fucking generic responses ran down her body angrily.
She let out a loud scream that came out from the deepest part of her heart. "Ahhhh!!!!"
Then her tears came. Hot and heavy.
They rolled down her cheeks messily, her eyes completely red and glassy.
Her shoulders were quivering as the tears ran down her chin.
She looked like a beautiful mess.
Then she wiped her cheeks despite the torrent of tears that still rushed down profusely.
If they wouldn't let her pass through then she would have to find another way.
She walked back into the mansion, her breathing a series of ragged breaths, tears still pouring down like a fountain on her cheeks.
Her mind was spinning, thinking, searching for something, anything that could help her leave this mansion.
Then an idea crashed into her. Simple and proactive.
She knew she didn't know the mansion. She didn't know if there were any secret paths or hidden exists.
But she was certain of one thing: the wall that surrounded the mansion wasn't endlessly high.
If she could run fast enough... if she climbed high enough... maybe she could be out of the mansion before the guards can even get to her.
Her heart slammed vigorously hard against her ribs as the idea sat into her mind.
She turned back on her heel and began walking towards the perimeter wall.
She didn't give herself time to second guess anything.
The second she reached the side of the mansion, she broke into a full sprint towards the high perimeter wall.
She wasn't wearing any footwear. They had long been abandoned at the entrance door.
She slammed her bare feet against the cold ground as she ran, her heart thrumming so hard against her ribcage like it might rip out of her chest the next second.
When she reached the wall, she jumped without thinking of anything.
Her fingers scraped the rough surface as she tried to pull herself up.
Her arms burned. Her legs kicking against the wall for anything to hold on to.
After a few struggling seconds she managed to get half way through the wall.
Unwavering determination coursing beneath her skin, she aimed higher. Just a little more...
Then—
She felt strong arms, wrapping itself around her waist from behind.
Fuck no!
She recognized the scent that punctured her guts but she didn't want to believe it was him.
"No! Let me go!" She screamed, thrashing wildly as she was yanked backwards.
Her fingers lost their grip on the wall as she was pulled down hard.
The person didn't loosen his hold even when she kicked and twisted against him.
Instead, he held her closer to his body, dragging her back towards the mansion with steady, unyielding strength, her feet scraping against the ground the whole way.
"Stop fighting," he muttered near her ear in a low breath.
She recognized the voice.
It was him.
Nikolai.
Anger and irritation coalesced inside her chest.
Instead of conceding, she struggled harder, hot tears burning down her face incessantly.
"Daisy, I need to find my sister! Let me go!”
No matter how much she screamed or twisted, the arms around her didn’t move an inch as they hauled her back inside the mansion until she was dropped in the foyer, her skin burning like a furnace.
Then he released his hold on her.
As soon as her feet met the cold tiles, Isabella turned to face Nikolai with anger swirling in her iris.
She didn't think, she raised her palm connecting it hard against the muscled skin of his face.
He had broken his promise...
