Chapter 78 Saved The Unknown Girl
Chapter 78 Saved The Unknown Girl
Mikhail had only one goal: to get his revenge.
To witness as the person who betrayed him watches as everything he built falls to the ground.
He lived through darkness. Killed randomly and didn't give a fuck about anybody.
You could be alive or dead for he couldn't give a single damn.
His heart was already blackened years ago.
Not a single drop of warmth had been alive in his chest.
He didn't fuck anybody.
Didn't kiss anybody.
Didn't give more than a single glance at someone.
When he turned his back towards someone, he never turned it again for any single reason.
But now...
Something changed.
The air changed.
Blood.
It was much.
Too much.
He could smell it. Sharp and stinging in his nose.
He didn't know where it was coming from but he could feel the change in the air.
He was relaxed in the back seat of his car while Boris, his Sovietnik, drove the car.
Then suddenly the car jerked.
A crashing sound was sharp against his ears followed by the sound of someone falling hard against the ground.
The car came to an instant halt.
He didn't step out.
Didn't have to.
He never did.
Boris stepped out, to check what happened or rather what he had crashed into.
He had always been a careful driver. Not once had he encountered an accident.
He waited patiently in the car for the accident to be resolved but as seconds passed by he became uncomfortable.
The smell of blood was hitting him again.
More intensively.
It was different mixed with a distinct feminine smell.
His brows furrowed, he alighted from the car to check the situation even though he didn't have to.
But he was suddenly feeling uncomfortable.
A feeling he hadn't felt in years.
Any thing that made his usual aloof feeling waiver, he made it disappear.
He steps froze, piercing blue eyes staring at a small frame lying on the ground.
Then, Boris quickly rushed to his side, "I think she's dead."
She wasn't.
He noticed the little rise and fall of her chest. She was struggling to breathe.
But most importantly, his eyes went over her body, he took a step closer until he was standing beside her.
Crouching, he checked her pulse, feeling it pulsating underneath his fingertips.
It was faint.
He ignored it.
She was dead anyway. She wouldn't be able to survive. She was injured badly.
Swollen face.
Bleeding thighs.
Bleeding forehead.
Swollen and bleeding feet.
She reeked of blood and death was hanging over her head.
She was as good as dead.
He stepped away, his face rigid. Very rigid like it didn't matter to him— it didn't.
"She's as good as dead. Find a way to contact the family for compensation. Wrap this up quickly."
His voice was very cold and detached.
He turned to walk away but he felt something tugging his trousers.
Anger flashed through his eyes.
Not one single soul had dared to touch him and live to see the other day.
No single person.
His suit was too expensive to be stained by the hands of a dying girl.
A snarl of pure fury rumbled in his chest.
He was about to kick the hands that dared touch him away but her tiny voice reached him.
"Please...s-save me. I d-don't w-want to d-die."
He froze, his blue eyes twitching then he turned his head, looking down over his shoulders at the utterly pitiful girl holding him like he was her life force.
"Boris."
"Yes, boss."
The man named Boris quickly rushed to his side.
"Any words from Don Vitale?"
"Y-Yes. He said there was an emergency that we should return back. He would reschedule a new day with us."
Mikhail's eyes were still locked on the small frame.
She had gone unconscious or rather she was now dead.
"Check her pulse." He commanded.
He wasn't going to touch her twice.
Boris immediately obeyed.
"She's alive! She's still breathing! I thou—"
"Quiet!"
His single word silenced Boris.
They had been driving in an area not meant for cars that was when she had run into them.
'Today's your lucky day,' he muttered under his breath.
"Take her into the car. We're going back to the estate."
"Huh?" Confusion arched Boris' eyebrow, "Not the hospital? Boss, the mansion is almost two hours away from where. She wouldn't be able to make it."
"If she dies then she's not so lucky. If she manages to survive, Cornell should treat her, if she doesn't, find a deserted grave and bury her body."
Mikhail didn't say a word more and walked back to the car.
His steps were silent and precise.
Boris placed her inside the car, directly beside Mikhail but made sure her head was against the window to not disturb Mikhail.
The car was ignited then the driving commenced.
Mikhail was troubled each passing second.
He kept tilting his head every few seconds to look at her brown wavy hair that was matted with blood, framing her face.
A low growl vibrated in his throat, tension rolling through him like a wave, starting in his gut and climbing upward.
He didn't like this.
He tore his hardened gaze away from her.
Then grabbed a blunt from his pockets and lightened it up.
He took a slow drag of the blunt, his eyes half-lidded then blew out a thick cloud of smoke through his mouth and nose.
He flicked the ash off the blunt and took another drag.
Unable to control himself, he turned his head again to the unconscious girl who looked like she was already dead.
While staring at her, smoke drifted from his mouth, then he mumbled under his breath.
"How bothersome."
