Chapter 14 I don't Need To Deserve You, You're Already Mine
Nikolai let out a wild long laugh. It tore out of him before he could stop it.
His laughter sounded rough and sharp, making Isabella's stomach twist, her pulse stuttering in her throat.
He dragged a hand over his face, shaking his head as if he had misheard her or perhaps she didn't know when the words left her.
Was this a joke she was trying to play on him?
When the laughter died, he slid his gaze to her, slowly and heavily.
The corners of his mouth twitched, "How foolish of you to think, you have a choice or rather a chance to propose this nonsense to me. You don't seem to be getting this right. I already said, I do not need your body, I have plenty of whores waiting in line to satisfy me. What makes you think that I would even try to listen further to the rubbish you spill from your lips, huh?" His said coldly. His tone dropped low and steady.
Nikolai's words pierced Isabella's heart sharply. This was the second time she was offering herself and he was refusing.
If she was in any other situation, she would be happy but this was her and Daisy's life at stake. So his words hit hard like a punch to the gut.
She flinched at his cold tone, words already burning at the tip of her tongue ready to retort but she bit down hard on her lower lips, holding herself back.
She can't possibly go back to the cell when she had Daisy to look after. She didn't want to say something that would warrant a punishment from Nikolai.
She twisted her fingers together, trying to steady herself.
"You said it yourself. You told me you brought me back because I offered myself to you! Why do you like going back on your words, Nikolai?"
Again, he didn't feel angry with her using his first name. Rather be loved the way his name rolled smoothly off her tongue.
His hands flexed slightly at his sides, and for a moment, he let his gaze drop to her lips, tracing the curve and then something he didn't quite understand ran through him for a second before he shifted his gaze.
"That I said before. I also said after, that I do not need you warming my bed! If you want to change my mind, be sincere and show it. Don't just say it. If you truly wish to persuade me, don't waste your breaths with useless talks, prove it with actions. But for now, you and your sister are staying in this mansion, whether you want to or not." He smirked at her.
"You're such an animal, Nikolai. Here I am, putting aside my pride and offering myself to you. You do not deserve me."
"I've been called worse," he murmured, "And I don't need to deserve you. You're already mine."
His dark black eyes clashed with her bright jade-like ones.
"I have everything you could ever think of. Money, wealth, assets, business, ladies itching to satisfy me and a lot more but what do you have? Only your body?"
His words struck like a slap. He made it sound like she was a prostitute offering herself Or wasn't it what she was doing?
Her nails dig into her palms, "Exactly, I have nothing to offer except my body, so why don't you just let me go?" A faint tremor coursed through her veins. Her lips were pressed into a thin line, her hands itching to scratch that smirk off his face.
"I want you, so I'm keeping you. Unless, you pay back your father's debt..." He let his words trail off as his windows bang against the frame.
The air was suddenly getting colder. His eyes flicked to her lips again, they were trembling and her hands were running against her peeled skin for warmth.
"How on earth do I do that, why you don't let me go to New York? That's where my life is, not here in Russia. Don't you get me?!"
"No, I do not. We've talked so long without achieving any fruit. We will continue this discussion some other time. But for now, you have to leave, I have work to do!"
"Fuck you," she spat and walked off, her hips swaying side to side as her hair bounced at her waist.
Nikolai's eyes lingered at her back side until she banged his doors, "Glady, Malyshka." He smiled before turning back to the files on his desk.
Dimitri had prepared a file of twenty names ready to be killed..
Each of them had a good reason to be murdered.
He took notice of some names there; Denis Gusev - He ran an underground child trafficking ring out of abandoned warehouses. Always selling kids to the highest bidder.
Yaroslov Mironov; He trafficked pregnant women, sold their babies and forced the mothers back to work as sex workers.
Rodin Polyakov; He bought and sold Virgin girls at private auctions for rich clients.
Lavrentiy Kozin;
Nikolai's eyes froze on the name.
He remembered that name because he had let this man go when he killed one of his enforcers in cold blood because Mikhail, his sworn brother interceded for him, making an oath with his blood that he would ensure that Kozin paid for his crimes.
So why was this fucker still alive and causing havoc in his city?
His damn fucking city.
He was going to go on a blood hunt.
Nikolai wasn't a good man, neither did he say he was trying to do a good deed but these men were fucking around in his city and he had to show them a good damn lesson and make them remember who owns this city.
It will serve as a warning to others never to fuck around in his city anymore because he sees and watches everything, even when they think he didn't notice what they had done.
He did.
His eyes stayed on the names, cold and hard.
Tonight, blood will be spilled.
And Isabella?
He smirked. She was stuck with him und
er this roof, whether she liked it or not.
