Chapter 88 088
Alexander's POV
“It is only right that you make a final judgement now, Alpha. You can't keep them locked up forever, you know that, right?” Blake insisted and I was literally fighting back the urge to cut him off completely with the Alpha command he couldn't resist, but that wouldn't affect just him, everyone at the Pack house would be affected.
We have been on this for the past hour but he’s been acting like a child. I couldn't help but think of calling his mate to have him distracted or something.
“I can keep them locked forever, Blake. It doesn't take me a single lift of my finger. And you know that” I muttered casually, completely relaxed like I haven't been having this same back and forth with him for over an hour.
“But your mate wouldn't like that.” He muttered and I froze.
He always had the tendency of bringing Danica into an argument between us but each time he does it seems to leave me surprised because somehow it always got to me.
“What would she think when she realized that the patient she went through a lot to save hasn't been putting his health and safety first just because his mate was locked up? No one would be happy to see their hard work go down the drain…”
“Hard work?!” I repeated, scoffing. “They fucking tried to kill her, Blake and now all that matters is hard work?” I demanded hotly, anger boiling hot in my ears even though I knew darn well that he was right. Painfully so.
“You know that's not what I meant, Alpha. You know I'm not considerate enough to want any one of them alive but this… This is for your mate's happiness and for your sanity. Getting her sad or emotionally down will get us nowhere, and we have so many busy days ahead” he responded and my glare softened just a bit as I turned away from him.
“Fine then, if you say that, I'm just expected to let them go like nothing happened? Whatever torture they might have gone through before was just a payback for what they did to Danica. That's just me getting even, Blake. You know I don't do EVENs. I do punishments, tortures that will make you remember what you did for a very long time so you'll never miss the chance to reflect when else you try something stupid, not one that'll make you feel like you don't owe me anything anymore” I said dangerously, sternly, like I truly meant it… and I do. I meant every single thing I said.
“Then… you can put them on probation or something? There's the strict monitoring. A vow for death if another mistake is made. A cut down of something that means a whole lot to them asides their lives… and so many more. You know you're capable of doing so many things to make their lives worse without actually killing them or keeping them locked up till they rot”
I turned to face him with a raised brow at his suggestion because, damn, if he wasn't right.
“Wonder where you hid that brain of yours for the past one hour thirty minutes we spent on this useless talk” I grumbled and he gave me that grin that screams ‘cocky much?’
“I want them presented to me for the last address that precedes their impending doom if anything of such happens again. In fifteen minutes, Blake, before I fucking change my mind” I ordered and he nodded once before whooshing out of sight.
In less than fifteen minutes, Aliya, Renee and Sarah were sprawled on their knees in front of me, looking all battered, their weak bones threatening to give out. Trust me, nothing could be more pathetically beautiful than watching strong healthy wolves become miserable after refusing to learn their places.
“Sarah Ginovan, you can go back to the clinic and work like you've always done…” I saw the relief that flashed through her eyes and smirked.
She was dumb if she thinks I'm done talking. “You won't assume your previous position. And this time, you'll be reduced to a level one intern. Two years of hard work with zero trouble and lots of respect for your seniors will determine your promotion into the next level” I muttered and the light in her eyes dimmed again.
Good.
“You can protest now if you think that is not fair” I added and she glanced up, parted her lips to talk but then ended up shutting them because it would do her no good.
“Not at all, Alpha. Thank you for your benevolence” she muttered, voice cracking but I didn't care. Not one bit.
“Aliya Grey, before I speak about your probation terms, you should know the reason I'm saving your sorry life is for your mate… and the reason I'm considering your mate is because he underwent treatments with my mate”
“Yes, Alpha” she responded with a bow, her voice weaker than anything I've ever heard coming from her.
“You'll be stripped of your current job and you'll work with the Pack's labor division unit for three years under strict monitoring. One more mistake, Aliya and you can kiss your entire generation goodbye” I muttered sternly and she swallowed visibly before bowing to avoid my piercing glare.
“Yes, Alpha. Thank you for your benevolence”
“Renee Ivan, before I speak about your probation terms, you should know I'm not letting you go for your talent or from the goodness of my heart. I would have more fun watching you fade away so slowly until all that's left of you is a fading memory. I'm letting you go because my mate somehow finds the good in everyone, and she wouldn't want you dying even after you tried to do the same.” I told her and she trembled visibly… as she should.
“Yes, Alpha.”
“You’ll assume your job as a worker in the clinic, but this time, you'll be appointed as an assistant doctor. It took you ten years to be promoted from that position, so I'm sure that should be enough to let you know how far I'll go with making you learn what you did wrong” I muttered and she bowed, shedding tears that did nothing to move me.
“You'll obey every single thing Danica tells you to do and you'll learn from her for five years, after which I'll decide if you're still worth sparing or not” I said lastly and she hesitated long before muttering…
“Yes, Alpha. Thank you for your benevolence”
“Good. Do have a great next few years of your lives”
