Chapter 80 080

Chapter 80 080
Danica's POV

I had no idea when I drifted off last night, but when I opened my eyes again, my head was still snuggled close to Alexander's chest that rose and fell in a steady rhythm. And one of my legs rested directed above his.

I didn't move for the next few seconds but then I realized he might still be asleep so I turned to face him. And there he was.

Eyes closed, peaceful, and different in a good way.

He looked so beautiful like this, I could stare forever.

I noticed a few distinct features I hadn't seen before. Like how thick his lashes were, how harmless his face was whilst he's asleep. Don't get me wrong, there was no single hint of a smile there, but the scowls, and hard lines of his glare were absent at least.

My forefinger darted out to touch him and I started with the hair that framed his forehead. I pushed it back a bit and then I trailed the finger down the bridge of his nose. I couldn't help it.

His nose scrunched up a bit at the impact of my touch but his breathing remained the same. Calm. So I figured he was still asleep.

My fingers slowly returned to his face and I ran it through the line of his lower lip, then the upper lips, then his jaw.

It wasn't hairy, but it wasn't smooth either. Just rough enough to prickle my fingers into a much needed awareness.

I ran the finger through his jawline twice, maybe thrice before dragging it down to his throat. My gaze kept flickering to his face at every deliberate drag of my hand but he remained unmoving thankfully.

I didn't stop. I didn't want to. So I kept going, from the swell of his throat to his chest and suddenly, I found his nipple attractive.

My fingers wandered towards them. The first and then the second until his groan jolted me out of whatever sinful thoughts that were spiraling through my head.

"Keep that up, little mate and you'll be pinned beneath me in no time" his voice was thick, a mixture of sleep and lust, maybe?

My hands halted automatically when I thought about the little chemical and blood exchange happening down there.

"Good morning," I murmured, smiling at him.

He stroked my hair in response with a short hum that responded deep in his throat.

"Good morning, little mate"

Goddess, save me. Was this how sexy he always sounded after getting a good night's sleep? 'cause I'd be damned.

"I presume you haven't slept this long for a while now?" I asked and a smirk tugged at his lips.

"A ‘while’ is an understatement. I haven't slept longer than an hour or two on a good day in more than a decade" he replied and I gasped, my eyes widening a bit.

"You've been dealing with Insomnia for that long?" I asked and he squinted a bit before shaking his head.

"Not insomnia. I guess it's just a custom my body got used to. Like a habit? I mean, I did treat insomnia once but nothing worked. Until now. I slept for over three hours the last time we shared a bed too." He explained and I found myself smiling like a highschool lover girl who just had her first date with her crush.

"We'll find something to do about that later. But first, I feel so uncomfortable, I just want to have a bath" I told him and he frowned, like he just caught the little wince I gave under my breath.

But even if he did, he didn't say anything about it. For now.

Surprisingly, he didn't argue about having a bath together, and I couldn't be more grateful but he wouldn't stop asking if I was okay for the past thirty minutes.

The bath took longer than usual. And it's all thanks to the cramps. I would stop and bend over the tub a few times just to let that session pass. But after what seemed like forever, I was done.

Alexander cornered me the moment I stepped out of the bathroom.

His nose flared and I was literally praying to the deities that he hadn't just smelled my blood.

"You kept groaning throughout your bath, were you touching yourself without me there to watch?" He asked and I almost choked on my saliva.

"What?! No! I did no such thing" I refuted fast, too fast.

His eyes narrowed on me suspiciously, his gaze roaming through my curves.

"Are you hiding something from me, Danica?" The question dropped like a bomb. Goosebumps erupted over my skin and I swallowed nothing. Wondering what to say to him to make it look convincing.

But for the life of me, I couldn't think of one single line. Not the cliches. Not something creative. Not with that dark gaze daring me to lie to him and watch the heavens collapse right above my head.

"Are you hiding something from me?" I asked again, pinning her to the wall with no escape.

I freaking heard those little moans and at first my deduction was that she was probably touching herself but then it became groans. Pained groans, but I didn't want to barg in there without her permission. Hell, it took all my acquired self restraint to keep myself from barging into the bathroom while she was still there.

"What?! No, I'm not... hiding anything" she responded immediately, and every bolt in her body gave her off. The way her toes curled unconsciously, the way her lips slowly pulled in between her lips, the way her fists clenched and unclenched by her sides and the way her eyes flicked once, twice and then the third time. Everything was proof that she was lying but I wanted to hear it from her. The real truth. I didn't want to force it out of her. But a little coax wouldn't hurt.

"Well, your lips may lie, Danica, but your eyes wouldn't. I can tell you're hiding something from me. What is it?" I asked.

She pressed herself harder into the wall, her breath coming out shaky, her eyes roaming everywhere but at me.

"I'm not hiding anything, Alexander." She said again, firmly.
