Chapter 8 008
Danica's POV
It's been two days since Mating night and Bianca has been nothing but true to her words. She was going to spend those three days with me in this room, starved and completely bored out of our minds. Luckily, it wasn't as boring as I'd expected.
We watched a few melodramas, laughed and blushed pathetically. We played games and decorated ourselves with different colors from the makeup kit she once got me. I even made a friend from the dating site she signed me up on and I didn't mind at all since my days and hours were numbered anyway.
I managed to avoid her suspicions when I freaked out about her mate being my mate's Beta without having to let it slip that Alpha Alexander was my mate. Everything seemed to go smoothly but my agitation increased as the day slowly came to an end.
One more day and I'll be getting a sacred wrath from the Alpha.
"It's a few hours to my death day, Bianca. Do you think I could be hopeful seeing how Alpha Alexander hasn't come to find me?" I asked as I laid on my bed staring into the ceiling of my room while she was busy with her phone.
"I'm thinking I could convince Blake that you're not that sort of person? He seemed close with the Alpha" she muttered with hopeful eyes but before I could respond, my door flung open to reveal Joey.
"Bitchy McJoey. What do you want now?" Bianca growled and Joey rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"Your attention is needed at the living room," she muttered, glaring lasers at me and I squinted.
"I'm grounded for three days, Joey. If this is another scheme of yours to get me in trouble, you have failed sweetie" I told her calmly without moving an inch from my bed.
"Why don't you rot in your room forever then?" She muttered and slammed the door as she walked away.
"I think she's saying the truth" Bianca muttered and I nodded in affirmation. The scheming Joey would make sure I left my room before she leaves.
I stood to leave for the living room and Bianca stood too, placing her two hands on my shoulders reassuringly. "I'm barging into that fucking living room if you're not back in twenty" she muttered and I smiled cutely, grateful for how much she looks after me. She almost reminds me of my mom. Only my mom doesn't have the crazy-Bianca edge to her personality.
It took all my courage to show up at the living room and a frown immediately outlined my forehead as soon as my gaze settled on none other than Anabel.
"Danica..." She called and my frown deepened at the emotion that glinted in her tone.
I turned to face my dad who had a ridiculous smile on his face and then back to Anabel who looked like if she didn't do this, guilt would've consumed her.
"She wanted to thank you for saving her life, Danica. I was just telling her how proud I was when you performed your saving magic" my father who had grounded me for two days without a single drop of water for the same reason muttered and I felt my eyes almost bulge out of their sockets.
"I'm grounded for the same reason, remember?" I blurted in disbelief and I didn't miss the glare on his face, but I didn't care at this point. Nothing could be more painful than the repercussions of disregarding an Alpha's order.
"We can talk in your room, Danica" Anabel's voice threw me back to reality and I immediately muttered a 'No' when I recalled how comfortable Bianca was in the same room my enemy wanted to talk.
"You both can go talk in her room if that's what you want, Miss Anabel" My father muttered, completely ignoring my opinion.
"No. We will, only if Danica agrees to it" Anabel muttered with a shake of her head as she looked up at me hopefully.
What the hell is wrong with Anabel now? Did she plan on killing me off in my room without anyone finding out?
"Fine! Let's go talk since it'll be the last time anyway" I gritted before turning to leave.
'If she thinks her wicked plan will work out because we'll be alone in the room, she's in for the biggest surprise of her life' I smirked as I led the way to my room without particularly looking back at her as she struggled to keep up with my pace.
'Typical princesa' I scoffed inwardly when she tumbled on her shoe along the way. She should thank her stars that she didn't fall flat to the ground because I would have laughed at her openly and she would do nothing about it.
"Welcome to Danica's room, Anabel" I announced to let Bianca know that I had company and her hawk eyes almost made me jump as soon as I stepped into the room with Anabel right behind me.
I mean, I expected her to hide or something but this crazed fellow just sat down like the goddess of laser glares expecting to jump on her prey; Anabel.
"Oh my god!" Anabel shrieked as she came face to face with Bianca's ridiculous face. "That... surprised me" she stuttered as she took a seat far across Bianca who was basically judging her from her head to her toes with those hawk-like glares.
"I just came to thank you for saving my life, Danica. There's no need to see me as a threat... I promise" she started talking when no one else did.
"You could have said that in the living room. Why stress me here when it's just a two sentence apology?" I asked harshly and she looked down at her fingers, her expression giving off a sincerity that I didn't like.
She should have stayed being a bitch! And the hatred would have being more easier seeing how Finn rejected me brutally for her. Why come here and thank me with that look in her face?!
"And I came to apologize... Apologize for being such a bitch to you" her voice trailed off as Bianca's glare became more heated on her skin.
"You're scaring her, B" I whispered, trying hard to hold back my laughter but she didn't even spare me a glance.
"I'm being sincere" she muttered again and I suddenly felt bad for her. I mean, she did sound really sincere. She looked like she was going to cry if she apologized one more time.
"Okay, Anabel. Your apology is accepted" I muttered silently and a growl made us jump.
"You do know that this stupidly nice hottie was starved and locked up ever since she saved you, don't you?" Bianca muttered, her tone visibly harsh.
"Locked up? Yeah, I figured. But Starved?..." Anabel trailed off, her gaze flicking from me to Bianca and I rubbed my forehead in exhaustion.
"Bianca!"I warned but she was far from stopping.
"Your apology isn't going to lift her isolation, you know?" Bianca continued and Anabel bit her lips.
"Maybe my apology wouldn't lift her isolation, but it will show her how bad I feel for always being such a jerk. Isn't that the point of an apology?" Anabel asked and I could see the tiny glint of a smirk on Bianca's lips.
I've heard those words before. The first time Bianca and I met. She had spilled a cup of hot coffee on my shirt and when she apologized, I asked her the same question. 'Your apology isn't going to bring back my shirt, you know?' Then she said 'Maybe my apology wouldn't bring back your shirt, but it will show you how bad I feel for spilling the coffee on you. Isn't that the point of an apology?'
"We were celebrating her death day in advance, by the way" Bianca blurted again, trying to get a different reaction from Anabel.
"What?!"
"Yeah, this isolation made me defy the Alpha's orders to come to the palace" I added and her face suddenly paled.
"Do you... Do you think you can sincerely explain yourself to Alpha Alexander before he finds you himself?" Anabel asked, leaving Bianca and I to exchange glances.
"If you think you can, I can help you find your way into the palace with my free pass by tomorrow morning, very early" she suggested and a mixture of both relief and dread surge through my bones.
