Chapter 74 074

Chapter 74 074
Danica's POV

'You just got a credit of $50,000. Your first paycheck for passing Dark Orchids' Royal Clinic Trial'

The message stared at me for long minutes and I blinked once, twice, and thrice before coming to an agreement that it wasn't a prank but a real message.

I not only got a testimonial, and a free week. I get to have a whooping sum of $50,000 to myself. Just like that?!!!

I wasn't sure I believed what I just saw, but I wasn't sure I'd be willing to let it go if it was eventually confirmed to be a mistake either. So I decided not to think much of it.

I scrolled through random things on the Internet for long minutes that eventually stretched into an hour. I'd watch a few reels and laugh at the humans silliness until I stumbled on an Ad pop-up.

Several brands of lingeries, dresses, and shoes that are on sale. And even the name of the mall and where it was located. I thought it would be somewhere faraway, beyond the borders but it was within Dark Orchids.

An excited beam sparkled through my eyes as I began to go through the map to avoid missing my way. But then I recalled Alexander telling me to let him know when I needed something.

He did say I could go anywhere I wanted, so I could easily ask that one of his guys take me there.

I dashed into the dressing room and looked through the multiple lines of dresses, two-piece, shoes, hair accessories, jewelry and several fragrances of perfumes.

After moving around in circles for over thirty minutes, I decided to go for a purple colored two-piece. Long-sleeved jacket; no buttons, a thin-strapped white top as inner and a matching thigh-length purple skirt.

I paired that with a silver heel and a pretty diamond necklace that matched the clothes well. I pulled my hair up in a badass ponytail and I did the last touch up of a nude lipgloss.

I was never good at the makeup thing anyway.

And today, I'm going out all classy yet natural.

A change doesn't hurt. And for the first time since I got this dreamy dressing room, I felt the real thrill of having something I could call mine. Maybe it was because I don't feel so out of place like I've always felt before. Or maybe it was the mate bond that was finally taking a real form between the giver and I, the receiver.

Either way, I decided to make out the best of it just this once.

I grabbed a silver bag, and then I tucked my phone, my flexible scalpel and the brand new card that I found on my desk into the bag before heading out of the room.

I felt pretty. Uncomfortable, because I wasn't used to wearing anything aside from dresses, but pretty still.

The moment I stepped out of the room, I was standing face to face with Killian. Although I was shocked to see him standing at my entrance instead of the stone faced robot in human form that was initially there, I didn't miss the subtle move of Killian's eyes over me.

"Uhm, you're probably going to hate me for this, but can I ask you a favor?" I asked and I took the little raise of his brow as a go-ahead.

"Okay, I'm heading out to a mall, and I can't navigate my way to the location so I'd like to ask if you could be my chauffeur" I murmured, wincing inwardly at the anticipated rejection. But it never came.

Instead, he nodded a little before saying. "Sure, why not? I drive really well"

"Ohh k then" I drawled, blinking in surprise as he walked right ahead of me.

Something is definitely up with Scarface and I need to know exactly what that is.

'Maybe he just realized you aren't someone he should keep suspecting at every turn. He's letting down his walls around you because to him, you're probably a safe sword edge he could manage to have around without troubles' Aurora suggested and I knew she was probably right, but I needed to hear it directly from him.

So I stepped on my pace to catch up with his long yet calm strides before asking.

"Why are you being so nice to me, Scarface? What happened to being a spineless bitch who keeps throwing herself at your innocent Alpha?" I asked and his steps faltered.

"I... I'm sorry if I ever said anything like that. I just, I was used to so many women walking around the Pack house with claims of having a formal invitation when they're nothing but whores meant to satisfy the male wolves basic instincts" he explained and although I understood him, I still couldn't help teasing him.

"Literally, you're saying I look like one of them... Those whores" I muttered, sounding hurt but then he was suddenly facing me with wide eyes.

"Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean that… And to think you don't even look like them. Not the way you were dressed that day, and definitely not the face card, but I still couldn't stop myself from lashing at you. And I'm sorry about that" he added and I smiled.

"You're really apologizing to me? You can't take that back, even if you want to" I muttered seriously and he nodded with a distinct smirk.

Of course it was a smirk. It was these high class warriors and their signature smirks against the world.

But do I blame them? Of course I don't. Most of them have been trained to fight, protect their masters and hide their emotions their whole lives. Plus one doesn't particularly have to smile on battlefields. So no, I don't blame them.

"Is that a truce then?" I asked, but he didn't respond right away.

"Does Alpha know about you heading out?" He suddenly asked and I shrugged.

"Not necessarily, but he gave me his permission to visit anywhere I want"

Twenty minutes later, we arrived at the biggest mall in the whole of Dark Orchids.

I slipped on the sunglasses Killian handed to me then I walked in with a freaking straight face of a classy business woman.

'Hello, Ma'am. What section would you like to check out first?' a lady from the front desk asked as soon as I stepped into the mall.

"Lingeries" I said simply and she nodded once before leading me to the supposed section.

I bit back a gasp until she was finally out of my sight. As soon as I realized I was alone, I pulled off the sunglasses and let the gasp escape its cage.

Because, never in an eternity would I have thought there could be a collection of lingeries that would leave you undecided for hours without even realizing that you've spent that much time.

Just when I finally chose one that caught my eyes. Someone else grabbed it at the same time as me.

Okay, No shit. But I grabbed it first!

My eyes swept up to meet a pair of stormy green eyes, painted deep-red lips that curled into an arrogant smirk and then the obvious delicate face of a princess that held an expression that screamed 'Come on let it go while I'm being nice because you're obviously no match for me’
