Chapter 51 051
Alexander's POV
I was already feeling bitter ever since Blake reminded me of my promised visit to Woven Peak Pack. The meeting room was filled with my angry dark aura from that one reminder. But it only lasted until I sensed it.
The golden scent that always had a way of soothing every bit of anger brewing through me. She was close. Hesitation lingered in her scent but she didn't leave. She was hovering around the meeting hall.
Waiting for me.
The thought alone made me count the seconds and minutes until the meeting would end.
"We need to find a way to secure an alliance with Woven Peak Pack or a Pack that qualifies the same way as fast as possible, Alpha" a voice pierced through my thoughts and I looked up sharply to meet the Gamma's gaze. Gamma Thorn. I was still yet to settle scores with him... But that can wait, right?
"Thanks for the reminder, Thorn" I muttered simply and Blake yelled at me through the link.
I barely referred to any of the ministers and officials by their names. But I was doing it right now and it made the hall eerily quiet. Like they were expecting me to say something else.
But I had nothing else to say. Not now at least.
"That'll be the end of the meeting then" I announced and I heard a few sighs of relief. As for Thorn? He literally sprinted out of the hall, forcing a wicked smirk out of me.
"Don't blame me, mate. I'm just feeling too generous, that's all" I shrugged with an amused smirk as Blake's glare lingered.
"First of all, No thank you, you're not my type. Second of all, I wonder what the non-generous side of you will be towards the poor Gamma if the generous side is like this" He muttered and I threw my sword at him, aiming for a side of that annoyingly fine face but he dodged, then brought the sword back to me.
"Get out and lead the pretty woman in. You don't have to follow her back in here, or I might just snap your head in half" I warned with a glint in my eyes and he shivered dramatically.
"Oh goddess, I'm so scared" he whimpered as he walked out, smoothly avoiding another aim of my sword.
Her scent drew close, still hesitating but bravely close and I took it as my cue to get off my majestic chair, vanishing into the dark corners of the room.
"Hello, Pretty" my voice muttered from the shadows, low and thick. She jumped slightly, taking a good look at the huge room to find me.
It wouldn't be easy though. The echoes of every word circulated the room the moment I opened my mouth to speak.
"Alexander...?" She whispered, though the room made her voice as clear as ice.
"That's me, little Doc." I spoke again and she swirled, searching for where the echo was the loudest to find the contrasting angle.
"Where are you?" She muttered softly, the fear that clung to her scent slowly dissipating. That little mate of mine liked this. The feel of me hiding, my voice taunting, asking her to find me.
"That's for you to figure out, don't you think?" I told her fiercely, changing my position every now and then.
And she kept moving with me, taking a deep breath and then moving as I did.
She was close, but I was enjoying this way too much. Enjoying the delicious mixture of fear and arousal that crawled up her spine.
So I ditched her again, before crawling up behind her, wrapping my hand around her neck as her back went lax on my body, a sharp gasp escaping her.
"You couldn't find me" I drawled and she swallowed, breathing through her mouth.
"No, you cheated" she panted and I clicked my tongue.
"I did? And it was enough to stop you?" I muttered and her pulse quickened against my palm but she said nothing.
Like she's afraid that her voice might fail her if she did.
"You see, no matter how much your opponent cheats, you always have the right to cheat back. A simple cheat should never stop you from achieving anything or finding me even in the darkest shadows" I murmured low in her ear, and she nodded automatically, biting on her lips to hide the traitorous pink hue that stained her cheeks.
Then I let go of her before finding a smaller chair because of her height.
She was here for something other than just playing games with me and I needed to know what it was that made her face so serious and nervous at the same time.
"What do you want, little Doc?" I asked and she immediately spilled like she'd been waiting for me to ask for an eternity.
"I... I heard about what you did to Aliya, Doctor Renee and Sarah" she muttered and my jaw ticked irritably.
"And?" I drawled lazily, clearly not liking where her conversation was heading. I mean, somehow, she summoned the bravery to wait for me at the Hall's back door during a meeting just because of those bitches?
"You... You went too far! You shouldn't have them locked up and tortured just because of me..." She trailed off as I stood up abruptly, approaching her in those predatory steps.
"First, Renee is in no position to be called a doctor. She's lost that title momentarily"
"But..."
"Second, I haven't gone 'far' little Doc. You have no idea what far means when I'm concerned" I interrupted her immediately and she shivered visibly.
"Third, what do you mean 'Just because of you?'..." I trailed off, my thumb trailing over her lower lip, leaving her words in a momentary shutdown.
"You're my woman, which makes you not Just You but a woman that holds my authority. If anyone dares to hurt you, even if it's my best friend... They would hear from me and when that happens, the word 'far' would be out of my library completely" I told her sternly, leaving every word drilled into her little skull.
"But..."
"No buts, chica"
"Her mate just survived death's door and he's worried sick about her... It isn't good for his recovery..."
"I'd give not one shit about what any mate of a murderer feels. If she can try to kill the one person who tried her hardest to save her mate, one day she'd drive her mate to his death too, don't you think?"
"Alexander..." She whined but I smiled flatly.
"Now if there's nothing more to discuss, we can head to the training grounds for Day 1 of your physical defense training" I announced and I saw her shrink visibly.
Okay, I'd known that she wasn't much of the athletic type but that reaction was golden. I was trying hard not to laugh.
"That's not fair! I haven't even recovered from how hard you crippled me yesterday" she blurted without realizing but too bad. I heard it all.
"No. You're perfectly fine if you walked all the way from my bed to this hall to confront me, Doc." I retorted before grabbing her hand and guiding her to the changing room.
"I really don't want to train. I haven't recovered yet!!!”
