Chapter 105 105

Chapter 105 105
Danica’s POV

Alexander literally ended all work activities without an official announcement after our heated moment on my sacred desk.

I seem to always forget the kind of stamina my mate has and that every time we have an intimate moment, I always end up with jelly bones. Just like now, I couldn't even protest cause I was too tired to speak to some extent.

And he stayed right there with me, on the emergency treatment bed within my office, stroking my hair and planting kisses on my forehead every single minute.

“Alexander…” I murmured sleepily.

“Yes, vixen?” He responded immediately.

“Why aren't you going to mark me? Why do you always pull back when you kiss my neckline?” I asked and he kissed me yet again, his lips lingering until I drifted off without getting an actual answer.

By the time I woke up, I still met the familiar presence of Alexander sleeping right next to me. His fingers now dug deeply into my hair, soothing and unnerving at the same time.

I snuggled deeper into his chest, recalling the question I asked before I fell asleep, yet saying nothing in case I end up destroying this special moment.

Eventually we cleaned up and Alexander left before me, after so many pleas, while I stayed back to get a few files sorted out; Arrangements and all. Since the impatient side of Alexander and I caused a huge mess all over already.

He helped in picking them all up and arranging as much as he could but at the end of the day, I still have to review them and leave the much needed signatures on a few files.

After leaving the clinic, I expected to see him at the study, or maybe at the dinner hall, or his office. But he was nowhere to be found, so I made my way back to my room for the first time in the last week.

It felt warm, comfy… like home. I haven't had this homey feeling for years. Not even when I stayed with my biological father.

I stripped off every single fabric on me and then I stepped into the shower to wash off every betrayal, and every bad luck I've faced from my skin if I can.

After the shower I dived straight to bed with the intention of sleeping the moment my body touched the bed, but at that moment, a knock came on my door.

“Who's there?” I asked, tone soft and tired.

“The best cook in the whole of Dark Orchids” Jasmine's voice seeped through sleepiness in my veins and jolted me back awake.

For some reason, I've missed her company so much that I could just throw myself into her arms right now and stay there for long, soothing minutes until I get back the vibe of how it feels to have her around.

She felt more like a mother to me than my stepmom ever had, even though I haven't even known her for six months.

“Come in!” I called out almost immediately and the door clicked open, revealing her with a tray of food. Probably my dinner.

If only she knew I had very little to no appetite tonight. But then again, seeing her might just be the appetite boost I needed.

My gaze followed her intently as she carefully placed the tray on my desk before finally facing me with a professional look on her face.

“Hello, Head doctor Danica” she greeted and I made a cute bow of courtesy that made her crack up in an instant.

“You have no idea how much I wanted to come looking for you for the past few days even though you were within these same walls of the Palace with me, your highness” Jasmine said and I smiled a little more half-heartedly than I intended.

“I missed you too, Jasmine” I murmured and she immediately closed the distance between us before gathering me into her arms.

“All that experience must have scared the demon’s meatball out of you. I bet everyone was mean to you, I could smash their faces in right now and make them apologize to you, one after the other” Jasmine muttered and a wide smile formed effortlessly at the corner of my lips.

“But you're still talking to me, Jas. Did you not believe
that I could have killed her when she was at the most vulnerable moment of her life?” I muttered and Jasmine giggled.

“It takes a patient who can eat a whole plate of a meal to be able to end another's life.” She responded and I couldn't help but laugh at her comments even though the plan was to look a bit offended.

“I never doubted you, your highness. Not even once. I just needed to see you and remind you that even if the world turned their backs on you within the last week, I'll still be one of those that respect your existence just as much as I do mine. But you were so hard to reach, you didn't come here to sleep, then I figured you either haven’t been getting any sleep or you’ve been sleeping in those uncomfortable clinic beds.” she muttered and I sniffled gently, the back of my eyes stinging with confidence.

“Now that your innocence and renowned talent was proven to be real and not just by pure luck, I hope they lose their front tooth!” She added and I blinked twice.

“Who?”

“All those that ever looked down on you, called you fake and called you a murderer” she muttered before hugging me again, her hand smoothing my back slowly for a minute or two before she pulled away.

“I brought your dinner. You haven't had anything tonight, have you?” She asked.

“I haven't.” I responded and she led me to the table.

After taking the third bite from the plate, I decided to ask if she knew Alexander's whereabouts.

“Have you seen Alexander this evening?” I asked and I swear I heard her sigh even though she did it very subtly.

“Yes, he's been busy. I don't know much, but I think something urgent came up. Plus he had an unexpected visitor, someone he hadn't seen in almost a decade, and it's so weird that she came back now after all these years” Jasmine muttered and my mouth tasted sour in an instant.

“She? A grandma? Or a young lady?” I asked, placing my spoon down.

Jasmine's eyes showed a funny glint, like she was trying hard not to laugh at my reaction.

“A young lady. She's named Martha, she's known Alexander for a very long time.” Jasmine said and I gave a disapproving look.

“I didn't ask for her name or who she is” I threw back and she nodded twice.

“Sure, I hear you. Let's just pretend you don't want to know anything about her” She added, the funny glint still present in her eyes.
