Chapter 154

Chapter 154
Misha’s mood had switched again.

This time, Marian understood.

This creature is enjoying himself! She reflected, her mind spinning as her lips pursed and her fists clenched.

“I will ask the Alpha –” she replied steadily.

“Don’t bother. Just bring him, then he can ask your questions,” Misha cut in pleasantly.

“I will bring him. But I need information urgently,” she stated firmly.

“And you think I will share it?” Misha droned, raising an eyebrow.

“I know you will,” Marian replied evenly.

“Oh?” Misha quipped.

“Your father is in the wind. You need to return to your pack. Help me, and I will help you,” Marian replied confidently.

“And what, in the name of the moon, could a fallen princess possibly help me with?” Misha tossed back casually.

“Even one as beautiful as you cannot hold any sway here, not when your Alpha has a living Luna and a stable full of sons!”

“You know what I am. I CAN help you,” Marian stated forcefully, drawing closer to Misha as he reclined against the wall.

He eyed her slowly.

He glanced away, then spoke, eyes averted.

“You are not authorized to be here, my princess. You cannot give me anything. Your people have been very busy all day, and we know the Alpha King is on these grounds.”

“The great Asher Mangar himself left his own kingdom to pay Lightmoon a friendly visit?” he commented slowly, as if they were having a casual conversation about politics.

Misha scoffed, “Your Alpha may not be alive by sundown.”

“Please, go and attend to some other task and leave me to your leaders,” he concluded softly, his eyes moving back to hers.

He was smiling, but there was a sadness to the curve of his lips.

He is prepared to die, Marian thought, and somehow, for some reason, her heart sank.

“Oh? Is that for me?” Misha purred, a hand brushing a rogue tear from Marian’s cheek.

Marian’s mouth fell open as she touched her face.

She had not known she was crying.

She had also not known when she had gotten so close to the creature before her.

She sniffed, wiping her cheeks roughly, yet, not moving an inch from where she stood, three feet from her enemy.

She gazed up at him.

Is this how Father has felt all these years?

So close to something, to someone, you should hate…

Yet, it just…pulls you in…somehow…

Wait! Am I comparing this creature to Dax?

She flushed again but could not stop staring.

“My princess,” Misha purred, “don’t look at me like that…I bite,” he breathed, speaking so softly that she was sure no one but her could hear him.

“Please, Misha, help me,” Marian breathed.

She felt him shiver again, even as he did not blink.

What are we doing? Marian mused.

Misha’s eyes searched hers.

She, too, did not blink.

“What do you need, my princess?” Misha whispered.

“A wolf is injured. Nothing has woken him from his sleep,” she stated slowly.

“Ah! The wild one?” Misha exclaimed quietly.

“Wild?” she rasped.

“The large one. The one the Gamma was guarding,” he explained quietly.

“Yes, that one,” Marian confirmed.

“He is something unknown. He attacked us like a wild beast. But he never shifted. His power is old,” Misha stated confidently.

“You…your people…you know magic –” Marian remarked urgently.

“You have spellcasters here. The Alpha King as well,” Misha cut in smoothly.

“You are here, now. Can you help him?” she urged, her eyes pleading.

“My father would be the best to ask. If you can’t find him, find the Head Runner of my clan,” Misha replied steadily.

“Where?” Marian breathed.

“Ah…my princess, so beautiful,” Misha cooed.

“Stop that,” Marian murmured, even as her eyes drifted to his lips, which seemed never to stop moving.

“It is the truth,” he whispered.

“It doesn’t matter,” Marian whispered back, her eyes roaming his face.

“To whom?” Misha murmured.

“To anyone,” Marina whispered, her breath falling on his face.

“No. It doesn’t. But it is good, no? To have it?” he droned, his eyes holding hers.

They were inches apart.

Whispering to each other, eyes locked.

“What are you?” Marian breathed.

Misha smiled.

“You have been caged in this place for too long…come with us, I can show you a different life. No one will keep you hidden.”

“I will call you beautiful every single day,” Misha crooned, his eyes roaming over her face as he adjusted his weight against the wall, shifting his shoulder ever so slightly, making it seem like he was pulling her closer.

“Me, and who else?” Marian cooed, her hand on his blanket, squeezing the thin material, keeping the opening closed as she pulled the cloth tighter around his toned frame.

Misha grinned. Marian held her breath.

The Bloodrayne wolf stepped back, his eyes fixed on Marian’s as he slid against the wall.

He is injured, Marian mused.

Loud enough for the watchers to hear, he droned, “Bring the Gamma to me.”

Marian spun on her heel and stalked out of the prison, wondering who had just been interrogated – her or the incubus.

\==========

By the time Marian left Misha, she was worn out. It was almost 5 p.m., and she had not eaten anything, except the tea the pack doctor, Byron, had given her.

Reyland’s comment about her eating habits flowed into her mind.

‘Do you not like to eat?’

She heard his voice in her head.

That’s what he had asked. Two days ago, just before…

How has it only been two days?!

She wailed in her mind as her sister interrupted her reminiscence.

“His pheromones are strong!” Dinka purred.

“Too strong!” Maria agreed as she stalked away from the dungeons. “It felt like I was under water,” she stated warily.

“Yes…” Dinka purred, and all her fur shivered as her wolf shook herself from nose to tail.

“D.!” Marian chided her wolf playfully.

“What? We didn’t do anything with him,” Dinka replied stuffily.

Marian scoffed.

Misha’s naked body flashed in her mind. Both she and her sister sighed.

“What do we do about Reyland?” Dinka asked, refocusing them both.

“His father, the Bloodrayne Alpha; he might have information, but we have no way to find him,” Marian replied, getting serious.

“No safe way,” Dinka chimed in.

“Unless…” Marian replied slowly, her voice trailing off.

“Unless?” Dinka asked inquiringly.

“Someone who knows the terrain can show us the way,” Marian replied slowly.

“You mean that son of a trickster?” Dinka exclaimed.

“I know he was playing with us, D., but we can play back, can’t we?” Marian asked patiently.

“We can, but he’s been playing this game forever. And he’s very good at it,” Dinka growled, then rumbled, her fur trembling.

“Dinka!”

“What?”
