Chapter 141 The Fall of the Moreno Clan
Chapter 141 The Fall of the Moreno Clan
The atmosphere in the courtroom was still thick with suffocating tension when Madam Diana her body still weak and covered in wounds slowly broke away from Cassen's embrace. Her swollen eyes stared at Alpha Rolex with a look full of terror and deep remorse.
"Mother... don't. Please, don't do this," Cassen whispered, his voice catching in his throat. His hands tried to hold onto his mother's trembling fingers.
However, Madam Diana gently shook her head. With weak, unsteady steps and heavy gasps, she walked toward Alpha Rolex. Unexpectedly, she dropped to her knees before the man she had believed for years was destroyed along with his family.
Thud! Her knees slammed against the cold stone floor.
"Forgive me," she whispered softly, her voice shaking with remorse. "Forgive me for all the sins I have committed against your family, Alpha Rolex. I... I am truly sorry."
"Mother!" Cassen yelled.
Cassen watched the sight with a heartbroken chest. Seeing his mother, who had always been so respected and feared, now kneeling in surrender and begging for forgiveness for past sins that could no longer be denied, made his chest feel as though it had been struck by a massive boulder.
"Please, Alpha... place the entire punishment on me. Don't touch Cassen. He knows nothing about my past greed," Madam Diana wept, her tears falling onto the cold floor.
In the midst of that heartbreaking moment, the courtroom's heavy teak wood doors burst open again. The sound of high heels echoed, shattering the silence. Maya stepped inside in her striking red dress. A triumphant smile radiated from her face as she witnessed Cassen and Madam Diana broken before Alpha Rolex.
"Well, well... what a fascinating view," Maya mocked, stepping gracefully toward them. "The mighty Alpha and his honorable mother, now kneeling and begging for mercy. What a beautiful sight that I will never forget for the rest of my life."
Cassen looked up, his eyes bloodshot. "Shut your mouth, Maya! Don't you dare insult my mother!"
"Insult?" Maya let out a soft laugh that pierced right through Cassen's heart. "I am not insulting, Cassen. I am merely stating the truth. Look at yourselves now. Where is the pride of the Moreno Clan that you used to boast about?"
Cassen glared at Maya with burning hatred, but he lacked the strength to fight back against her cynical words. His destroyed status left him powerless against the relentless barrage of insults.
Maya stepped closer, standing directly in front of the kneeling Cassen and Madam Diana. She tilted her head up, looking down at them with absolute satisfaction and superiority.
"Now, it's your turn to kneel before me as well," she commanded in a cold, non-negotiable tone. "Consider this a mandatory sign of respect for the new Luna of the Moreno Clan."
Cassen gasped. "What did you say? Kneel to you? In your dreams!"
"Cassen, enough..." Madam Diana whispered, her voice barely audible.
"No, Mother! I will never kneel to a cunning woman like her!" Cassen insisted, his teeth gritting in rage.
Cassen and Madam Diana remained still, not moving to obey the order. Even though their world had collapsed, a lingering shred of pride kept them from fully submitting to a woman they had always considered a hidden threat.
Seeing their hesitation and defiance, Maya's expression shifted instantly. Rage cracked through her mask of elegance.
"How dare you defy my command!" she snapped sharply, her voice ringing through the quiet courtroom. "Have you forgotten who holds full control over your fate now?! One signal from me to Alpha Rolex, and both your heads could be severed from your bodies tonight!"
"You really are a monster, Maya," Cassen hissed, his eyes sharp.
"I am a monster because you made me this way!" Maya retorted instantly. "Now, bow your heads! Or I will ensure your execution is far more agonizing!"
The threat forced Cassen and Madam Diana to exchange looks. In his mother's eyes, Cassen saw utter despair. They knew all too well that further resistance would only worsen an already critical situation.
"Forgive me, Cassen... Just do it," Madam Diana whispered, taking her son's arm.
With broken hearts and utter reluctance, both of them slowly bowed their heads deeper, kneeling before Maya, who stood tall with a widening, victorious smile.
"Good," Maya said with satisfaction, her eyes gleaming as she watched the two people who had been the biggest obstacles to her ambition now completely powerless at her feet. "Now you know your place. You are nothing but losers in my palace."
From his seat of power, Alpha Rolex watched the entire scene with an unreadable expression. Though deep down he felt a faint sense of satisfaction seeing the absolute downfall of the family that had destroyed his own, a flicker of disgust also rose within him at how excessively and cruelly Maya treated her victory.
"Enough, Maya," Alpha Rolex said at last. His deep, heavy voice cut through the silence, instantly halting the red-dressed woman's over-the-top antics. "They have suffered enough. There is no need to drag this humiliation out any further."
Maya turned, slightly startled by the cold reprimand. Her face stiffened for a moment, but she quickly composed herself and offered a forced, sweet smile.
"Very well, if that is what you wish, Alpha Rolex," Maya replied, though her tone still held an lingering sense of triumph. "Besides, I have already claimed what was rightfully mine."
Cassen and Madam Diana remained bowed on the stone floor. Their bodies trembled as they fought back tears, pain, and profound devastation. The power they had built over so many years and the honor they had fiercely protected had crumbled into pieces in a matter of hours, replaced by an overwhelming disgrace they had to bear for the unforgivable sins of their past.
"Take them to the underground dungeon cells," Alpha Rolex ordered the guards standing at the side of the room. "Keep them secured until tomorrow's sentencing trial."
"Yes, Alpha!" the guards answered in unison.
In a dimly lit corner of the room, unnoticed by anyone, Sera still disguised as Ana—watched the tragic downfall with deeply mixed emotions.
"Is this truly the justice we have been seeking all this time?" Sera thought to herself, her fingers tightly clutching the edge of her maid outfit.
There was a sense of satisfaction in seeing justice begin to prevail over the past sins of the Moreno Clan. Yet on the other hand, a deep anxiety suddenly gripped her chest. She wondered what would happen next to her and Leon amidst this massive shift of power and the new wave of terror taking over the Moreno Clan mansion. Now that Maya felt untouchable, she certainly wouldn't stay quiet if she uncovered the secret behind her disguise.
