Chapter 177 Leaving the Main World
Chapter 177 Leaving the Main World
Trial-takers entering the mental world was random and uncertain.
No one could guarantee that after entering the Deep Zone last time, they'd enter it again this time. According to previous rules, not entering the Deep Zone meant not getting an admission ticket to the Main World.
However, after Charles asked this question, Logan burst out laughing.
He slapped the carriage wall, laughing heartily. "Oh, Charles, you don't need to worry about that. You've already entered the Main World—you can choose whether to enter it next time."
Hearing this, Charles raised an eyebrow slightly.
Juno added a supplementary explanation from the side. "If you don't want to enter the Main World, you'll be randomly transported to a trial. But if you choose to enter the Main World, you'll be transported there."
Charles nodded. Then he looked at Logan, confusion in his tone. "Then how do I control when I enter the mental world?"
"Good question." Logan nodded slowly, no longer laughing, his expression turning serious. "You just need to pay attention to your mental state."
Pay attention to mental state?
This ambiguous statement left Charles somewhat puzzled.
But before he could continue questioning, Logan had already stepped aside, waving goodbye.
With no choice, Charles could only turn to Xavier for help.
However, facing this question, Xavier rarely shook his head. "Charles, only Logan knows the answer to that question. Of everyone who's entered the mental world, only Logan—only he can control when he enters this world."
This was the first time Juno had heard such a thing. Her eyes widened as she quickly pressed on. "You mean he can come here anytime?"
But Xavier slowly shook his head, correcting Juno's statement. "He can go to any space he wants at any time, even if that space is conducting a game trial."
Trials in the mental world were divided into two types.
The first was survival trials—long cycles that could accept new trial-takers at any time.
The second was game trials—usually shorter cycles. Aside from trial-takers chosen by anomalies, typically, no new trial-takers could join.
But Logan could disregard this rule and enter directly.
Charles immediately thought of what happened at Ophelia's manor.
Ophelia's manor was a very typical game trial, yet Logan had appeared directly inside the manor at that time. Back then, almost no one had noticed this strange phenomenon.
Now, when Xavier mentioned it, Charles made the connection.
He couldn't help but be surprised—he hadn't expected Logan to possess such ability.
He was also puzzled by Logan's last statement. Pay attention to mental state? Could it be determined through mental condition?
However, no one could answer this question right now.
Abigail had already begun dozing off—this was a symptom that appeared in almost everyone entering the Main World for the first time.
Only Abigail's symptoms came faster than most people's.
The exit was in the southeastern corner of District Two. It was also the only place in all of District Two unaffected by the changing streets.
This so-called exit actually looked more like a small volcanic crater—the fake kind scenic areas made to trick tourists.
Not far in front of this fake crater stood two tall men.
They even wore armor and held longswords, expressions serious, gazes locked on the various anomalies coming and going.
"Oh, why are there so many anomalies?" Juno stuck her head out of the carriage, startled by the anomalies near the exit.
Charles didn't lean out. Holding Abigail, he lowered his head slightly and looked up through the gap in the curtain. Indeed, within a relatively short time, he saw quite a few anomalies.
He recalled the recent trip back to Dubey Street—the anomalies on the road had indeed been more numerous than before.
"Damn it, what's going on with these things?"
After the carriage stopped, Xavier got out, looking at the anomalies gathered behind, brow furrowed tight.
The two men in front of the fake crater heard his complaint and joined in.
"Who knows? More and more anomalies have been wandering around here lately. I bet District One's having problems!" The first to speak was the one on the left, a longsword encrusted with sapphires hanging at his waist.
The other, with a ruby-encrusted longsword at his waist, immediately followed. "That's right! For heaven's sake, Xavier, you'd better go talk to the people in District One. We're about to hit our break time."
Xavier waved his hand. "I know, I know. I'll make a trip to District One shortly."
After saying this, he immediately muttered, "Seriously, hell—I've been going out more and more lately."
This complaint was clearly heard by the man with the sapphire sword.
He looked over, his armor clanking as he moved.
"Come on, Xavier. Haven't you rested enough?"
But Xavier shook his head dismissively. "Where do I have time to rest? Just reading books takes enormous energy."
The man with the sapphire sword chuckled. "I say you should just throw all those books away. Then you could rest."
This was clearly teasing. Xavier didn't acknowledge it, pointing at Charles and the others. "I'll need to trouble you this time—send these three out."
The two gatekeepers nodded.
Juno had already walked toward the fake volcano first.
Charles followed close behind, Abigail on his back.
The fake crater still had a volcanic structure, but it wasn't tall—it retained only the crater itself. Looking down from above, the distance to the "lava" inside was about three feet.
The fake mountain had a large diameter—roughly ten feet. The "lava" inside showed no signs of boiling, remaining quite peaceful. But from the overall visual presentation, it definitely gave the feeling of scorching magma.
The slowly flowing liquid faintly glowed, like molten iron.
Seeing the three hesitate, the man with the sapphire sword shouted from a distance, "All right, just jump in."
Having visited the Main World multiple times, Juno took the initiative to demonstrate for Charles.
"Watch—just jump down and silently recite where you want to go in your mind, and you'll appear there."
After finishing this sentence, she jumped straight in. Her figure quickly disappeared into the "magma."
Knowing this was fake lava, Charles didn't hesitate. Following in Juno's footsteps, he jumped in while holding Abigail.
The "lava" instantly swallowed his head. The sensation was ice-cold and comfortable, as if immersed in the ocean.
[To Abby's house, to Abby's house!]
And in his heart, following Juno's suggestion, Charles kept silently reciting his destination.
