Birth of Margô

Helena:

The months went by and I was happier and more secure about my marriage,I was being a great lady of high society,Mat made sure that I took classes with the best etiquette teacher in our great city.

I went to all the events with him, he always introduced me as "his beautiful wife" and then came the countless photos.

Today I woke up with a nagging pain in my back, right at the beginning of it, and it persisted, but I didn't want to worry anyone, so I just went about my day calmly.

"Everything okay ma'am?"

Asks the maid seeing me walking very slowly.

"Everything is fine, don't worry."

I smile yellow and head to the kitchen,where the cook was finishing setting the table and Matew was fiddling with his laptop.

"Good morning ma'am!".

"Good morning."

"Good morning love."

The same one smiles beautifully and kisses my lips,drawing a brief smile from me.

"Good morning Mater."

"How are you?"

"Yeah, why?"

I serve myself slowly and eat calmly,until I start to feel a few twinges,which makes me grimace,but these were still mild.

"What's wrong? - He asks gently.

"Yes,it's ok..."

Just as I was about to finish speaking,then comes a stronger one and I let out a small scream.

"What's going on honey? You look strange!"

He runs his hand slowly through my back and hair.

"I woke up feeling pain and now it's getting stronger..."

"But why?" - He asks worriedly.

"I don't know, I thought I could hide it so I wouldn't worry you, but it's getting stronger."

"Ma'am,sorry to intrude,but you are going into labor,you better go to the maternity ward soon."

Speaks the distressed cook,even more so than Matew and I.

We look at each other and soon a wide smile appears on her lips,I am scared,all I wanted most was for Margot to come into the world,so that I could see her beautiful face and be able to take care of her like a mama lioness,but I also felt afraid of what was to come.

"Our baby is coming!" - He says excitedly.

"I'm scared." - I bite my lips.

"It's going to be okay, everything is going to be fine."

"What if there were problems in childbirth, or I couldn't give birth?"

"No negative thoughts Helena, everything will be fine."

He kisses my forehead, as well as holding my hands and trying to keep me calm.

"I'll get your bag, sit down and try to stay calm."

He goes to the bedroom to get the baby's things and I go to the living room,sit down on the couch and breathe slowly to control the pain that came and went. After a few minutes he comes back almost running,so we went to the car and then to the hospital.

"Come on Willy!!!,go faster,Margô is being born!". - Says Mat apprehensive.

"Calm down love." - I speak smiling and caress his hand that was holding my other hand.

"I'm going as fast as I can sir."

After long minutes we arrived at the maternity hospital,we were already getting out of the car and entering the enclosure,the place was nice,well arranged,the smell was good,it almost didn't seem like a maternity hospital for being so cozy.

Matew says his name and soon they take me to a super cute room,there they say it would be good for me to take a warm bath,so I go to the bathroom of the room,take the shower and after dry and dressed in a lighter outfit that was given to me by the maternity,I go to do squat exercises and on a big ball.

At the end of the whole process,the worst pain begins,bag bursts and soon they take me to the delivery room.

"Helena,you need to push every time the pain comes." - Says the midwife.

I just nodded my head and every time the pain came, I pushed. I stay like that for minutes,until I push hard enough and feel a greater pain,I feel weak.

"There's just a little more to go Helena, just push a little bit harder".

I do as she asks and in seconds the baby is completely born and I feel free of the contraction pains,but I was very tired.

"Come on honey,I'll help you."

The midwife gives the baby to the pediatrician and helps me get up,dress me and tries to take me to the room.

"No, I want to see the baby, please!".

"Calm down ma'am,soon we will take the baby too,we just need to attend to her,to see if she is ok,it is super fast."

"I'll wait!"

"Are you sure? You don't feel weak?

"I'm sure and I feel fine."

"Okay."

Then the pediatrician measures and looks at the baby,checks to see if she was born with any problems,when she's done we all go to the bedroom,when I lay down,I can finally hold my daughter and at that moment I cry like a child,it was everything I wanted so much,to see my daughter's little face,to be able to touch her face and feel more joy than I was already feeling.

"I love you so much, my best friend, my companion for life, love of my life.

I run my nose over her face slowly and then let her sleep peacefully,her serene and calm little face gave me more security than all the strength and power that Matew could hold in his hands and of all the security,the one this little one gave me was the best one to choose.

After a few minutes Mat enters the room,his smile was huge,he looked happy and worried at the same time.

"All right my love?"

He says kissing my forehead and hugging me tightly,but without hurting me.

"Everything is fine, I thought I was going to watch the birth. - I say the last part out loud.

"Sorry,I get scared at times like this,of pain,blood,these things don't make me feel so good .... Do you wish I was?"

"No,no. I just thought you would be,not having you there was even better,not that I don't enjoy your company,but it's good to be calmer at this moment,to think better and obey the doctor's orders."

"I'm glad you didn't feel sad with me, and I didn't even talk to you about my fear of childbirth.

"Don't worry, but I think you came to see Margot too, right?"

"Yes, may I see her?"

"Sure, but wash your hands first."

"Yes ma'am." - He says and smiles.

He goes to the bathroom in the bedroom,washes his hands and comes back,then I take the baby in my lap,he sits on the bed next to me and looks at the baby.

"She is beautiful." - He smiles happily.

"Thank you."

"Believe it or not,she looks a little like Abraham and especially Victor."

I sigh heavily,then remember the face of that man,the same man who promised me joy and in the end only used me,cheated me,betrayed me and took everything away from me...well,almost everything,only he didn't take away my home,my family,my baby and the good friendships I made throughout my life.

"I'm sorry...I shouldn't touch the name or matters related to it."

"It's okay,she does look a lot like your kids and I'm glad,at least they won't be asking all the time if she's really ours."

I smile sullenly,then he hugs me and keeps passing his hand on my arm.

"Don't worry about any of that,just live this happy moment with our baby."

"Do you want to hold it?"

"I'm afraid to drop it."

"Just do as I do."

I teach him how to hold it and I put the baby in his lap,fix his arm so it's straight and then I see him doing everything right and smiling happily.

I stayed at the maternity for the necessary days and soon I returned home,Matew hired a nanny to help me with the baby and my life was very perfect and happy.
