Thursday, January 30Th Pt 7
“I’m sorry, Micah. I know this is scary but I promise it doesn’t hurt. You’re struggling to tell me what is hurting you so I have a special ability that will tell me without you speaking. Just stay still for me.”
She stays calm as she finally rests her palm upon his neck. His whimpers become even louder as she starts reading his body, searching for the injuries his alpha caused him. She releases him slowly but the process has left him shaken up.
“Maisey, do you have a chart created for Micah?” She asks as she walks away to the cabinet.
“Yes ma’am.” Her answer comes quickly.
“The standard orders for blood work need to remain as all the tests will be completed but I believe he is severely anemic so we will need to do the tests in stages. The most important tests to be run are going to be the most comprehensive; CBC with differential, complete metabolic panel and a micronutrient panel will give us the clearest picture of the trauma his human side has received. He also needs to be tested for wolfsbane and silver, I need current levels so we know how to treat it and I need genetic rank testing. I have a feeling that he might be a beta but it needs to be confirmed.”
“Yes ma’am.” Her response floats across the room where only her speed typing interrupts the flow.
“Now, Micah, I believe you received a shot or two in the field?” She starts trying to talk with him again.
“No shots. Please.” He whimpers with renewed energy. I’m struggling to comprehend the roller coaster that seems to be going on in front of me.
“This is a little different. Putting an IV in your vein will allow us to give you medication without giving you a bunch of shots. It only hurts for a moment. Once it’s in place you won’t get any more pokes in your arms or legs.” She explains as she ties the band around his wrist.
“Ow, ow, ow.” He whimpers sharply as he fights to sit up but he keeps slipping as if he’s drunk.
“Be still Micah, this only takes a second.”
She takes his hand as he finds his balance but she’s not quick enough. It’s with a scream that he jumps to his feet and I only have a second to react as Jessa and Maisey step back, startled by his sudden energy. I hold my arms out to either side of him trying to control how far he goes on the bed.
“Please sir.” He begs as he tries to look into my eyes. “Medicine makes me sleep. I wake tied to the bed. Everything hurts worse when I get tied up. He did it twice before Avery made me leave. I’ll be good. Please tell me what I did so I can be good.”
Tears are streaming down his face as it’s obvious that he fears what’s happening. I take a slow deep breath before stepping towards the bed. I can see Jessa stepping forward with me but something tells me to stop her.
“Everything is okay.”
I speak in the calmest voice I have while using the channel to encourage Jessa to stay still. I reach towards my left where a small gown has been left on the bed, picking it up and shaking it loose.
“Are you naked when you wake up?” I ask just above a whisper. He nods yes.
“I don’t know what he does to me while I sleep. It just hurts to wake up.”
I open my mouth to speak but hearing Jessa through the channel stops me.
‘Choose your words carefully, Day. He needs a procedure done that will require him to sleep and I don’t know that he will be pain free when he wakes.’
I nod slowly as I approach him with the gown.
“I understand that you’re afraid and after what Alrik has done, you have every reason to be.”
I take a moment to breathe as everything I have tells me my calm is what he needs.
“Can you put your arms through the sleeves?” I ask before continuing.
He looks at me suspiciously without moving.
“I won’t lie to you.” He manages to look into my eyes briefly. “Receiving the IV is painful but it’s the only way to collect your blood so we can test it.”
“Test it?”
I can tell he’s hanging onto my every word as he finally moves his arms into the sleeves of the gown.
“Your blood carries information about you. It will tell us how much wolfsbane and silver you have in your body. It will also tell us what kind of vitamins you need to make up for not being fed. While here in the hospital Jessa will have you on saline, which is salt water that your body needs since you can’t drink water. Most importantly, it will let Jessa give you medication that will help you with your pain.”
“There’s more.” I’m shocked but continue.
“Yes little bud. We don’t want to scare you because it’s very different here but Jessa told me that she will have to make you sleep briefly.”
“No. Please no.” He whines but stays with me.
“I know it’s scary but we need to put a small camera down inside your stomach so we can see how you’ve been injured.” Jessa jumps in with a gentle explanation.
“Camera?” He questions with a little interest. She nods.
“I need to get closer to you, Micah. Can you let Damian put that gown on you so you’re not naked?”
He cocks his head to one side briefly forcing me to grab his hands as he stumbles, keeping him standing on the soft mattress.
“But I need to be naked.”
“Why?” I ask confused.
“For my spanking. There’s no crying allowed.” He speaks softly.
“Even when you’re hurt?” Jessa implores. He nods.
“He will make you feel worse.” He’s nearly down to a whisper.
“Who?” I ask as I slip one arm through the sleeve.
“Alpha.”
He stares intensely just past my shoulder. I know dad is near the hospital room’s door as I heard him walk by several minutes ago. I just don’t know what’s keeping him from leaving.
