Chapter 137

Logan’s POV

The pack was restless. Even after the battle, after Ava had unleashed a power none of us understood, tension still clung to the air like a thick fog.

She was different now.

Stronger.

More dangerous.

But she was ours.

And I would do whatever it took to make sure she didn’t carry this burden alone.

I found her standing by the window in our shared room, her arms wrapped around herself as she stared at the moon. The soft glow illuminated her features, making her look almost ethereal.

She didn’t turn when I stepped inside, but I knew she felt me.

“Couldn’t sleep?” I asked.

She exhaled, her shoulders rising and falling. “I don’t know how I’m supposed to sleep after what happened.”

I stepped closer, stopping just behind her. “You saved the pack, Ava. You saved us.”

She let out a bitter laugh. “I killed them, Logan. Every single one of them. And I didn’t even think—I just—” She cut herself off, her fingers gripping the windowsill. “What if I can’t control it next time?”

I turned her around gently, my hands on her arms. “Then we’ll figure it out. Together.”

Her eyes flickered with emotion. “What if I become something… something I don’t recognize?”

I cupped her face, forcing her to meet my gaze. “Then we’ll remind you of who you are.”

She shuddered, her body leaning into mine. “I’m scared, Logan.”

“I know.” I pressed a kiss to her forehead. “But you don’t have to be.”

She hesitated before wrapping her arms around me, burying her face in my chest. I held her tightly, feeling the way she trembled against me.

She wasn’t just my mate.

She was everything.

And no matter what darkness came for her, I’d fight it.

For her.

For us.

For the future we’d build together.
