Chapter 135
Ava’s POV
The battlefield was chaos. The scent of blood and burning wood filled my nostrils as the clash of wolves echoed around me. Our warriors fought desperately, their snarls and growls mixing with the agonized cries of the injured.
I barely had time to think before an enemy wolf lunged at me, its fangs bared. Instinct took over. I dodged to the side, but before I could counter, Landon tackled the wolf mid-air, his claws slicing into its side.
"Ava, stay behind us!" Logan shouted, his voice rough with authority.
But I couldn’t. My heart pounded, a strange energy building inside me. My mates were fighting with everything they had to protect me. I couldn’t just stand by.
A group of warriors from the rival pack charged forward. Liam was the first to meet them, his movements quick and ruthless. Lucas fought beside him, their bond as brothers making their attacks seamless. Logan was a force of nature, his claws drenched in blood, his eyes burning with fury. And Landon—silent, calculated—was like a shadow, striking fast and efficiently.
Still, we were outnumbered.
Then, something changed.
A deep, foreign power surged through me, spreading from my core like wildfire. My vision blurred, my body trembling as if something ancient inside me had awakened. The enemy wolves stopped mid-attack, their gazes snapping toward me, their eyes widening in shock.
And then, the earth beneath us shook.
A low growl rumbled from my chest, a sound that wasn’t entirely human. Heat pulsed from my fingertips, the air crackling around me. My mates froze, their eyes locked on me in disbelief.
"Ava…" Lucas murmured, his voice barely a whisper.
The power inside me exploded. A wave of energy rippled out, sending the enemy wolves flying backward like ragdolls. Some slammed into trees, others crashed into the ground, unmoving. The battlefield fell silent.
I staggered, my breath ragged. What had I just done?
The quadruplets rushed to me. Logan caught me before I collapsed, his strong arms wrapping around me protectively.
"Ava," he said, his voice softer now, filled with something I couldn’t quite name. Reverence? Fear? Love?
The remaining enemy wolves hesitated, their gazes darting between me and their fallen comrades. Murmurs spread among them.
“She’s not just an omega…” one of them whispered.
“She’s something else,” another muttered, stepping back.
Then, their Alpha snarled. “I don’t care what she is! Kill her!”
But none of them moved. The fear in their eyes was clear. They didn’t want to fight me anymore.
Before their Alpha could command them again, Logan stepped forward, his voice cold and commanding. “This is your last chance. Leave now, or die.”
The rival pack hesitated for a split second—then, one by one, they turned and ran, their Alpha cursing as he was forced to retreat.
Victory.
But I wasn’t relieved. Not yet.
Because as I looked up at my mates, I realized something had shifted between us.
And nothing would ever be the same again.
