Seeds of Deception

Ivy's POV

I watched from the murk, concealed behind a thick, intricately woven shade hanging in a quiet alcove, as Emerald and Ryker interacted. A slow, calculating smile spread across my face, a bloodsucker observing its prey.

The scene played out exactly as I had hoped, a perfect occasion presented itself, a chance to manipulate the situation to my advantage. I folded my arms, my aspect unwavering, observing every nuance of their commerce, every flicker of emotion on their faces.

“ Perfect,” I allowed, a swell of satisfaction coursing through me, a feeling of control that I savored. " Just as I suspected. That little busybody has a way of attracting attention, indeed when she tries to hide. "

Ryker's interest was palpable, his eyes moping on Emerald with a curiosity that framed seductiveness, a spark of conspiracy that I could see from my retired edge point. Emerald, in her generally flustered manner, sounded eager to escape his aspect, her cheeks flushed, her movements hastened.

“ Foolish girl," I allowed a hint of misprision in my mind. " She has no idea what she's playing with, no understanding of the games we play. "

As Emerald hastened down, Ryker watched her go, a thoughtful expression on his face, his brow furrowed in

contemplation. " He is intrigued, " I noted, my mind formerly contending with possibilities, conniving and

colluding. " And that conspiracy will be his downfall, his weakness that I'll exploit. "

I stepped out from behind the shade, my smile widening, a picture of casual fineness. Ryker turned, his eyes

widening slightly in surprise, a flicker of apprehension crossing his features.

" Ivy," he said, his voice laced with a hint of curiosity, a question in his tone." I did not see you there. How long have you been standing there?"

" I was just passing by," I replied, my voice casual, a light, airy tone that belied the computation in my mind."I could not help but eavesdrop on your discussion with Emerald. She seems to have captured your attention."

" Ah, yes," he said, a thoughtful expression on his face, his aspect drifting back to the direction Emerald had taken." She's intriguing. A bit flustered, but intriguing."

"Intriguing?" I echoed, raising an eyebrow, a hint of recreation in my voice." I'd call her a complication. A rather large one, at that."

" How?" he asked, his brow furrowed, his curiosity piqued." What do you mean by that?"

" She's not from around here," I said, my voice laced with a hint of misprision, a subtle undertone of warning." She's a stranger, and her presence is causing trouble within the pack. Trouble that you, as Caden's friend, should be apprehensive of."

" Trouble?" he asked, his curiosity growing, his eyes narrowing slightly." What kind of trouble? She sounded

inoffensive enough."

" She's snooping," I said, choosing my words precisely, painting a picture of dislocation and chaos." snooping

with the pack's balance, with the Alpha's opinions. She's causing disunion, creating division where there should not be any."

" I see," he said, his eyes narrowing slightly, a hint of dubitation in his tone." And you suppose she should leave? That is what you are inferring, is it not?"

" It would be for the stylish," I said, my voice establishment, unwavering." For everyone. For the pack, for Caden, indeed for her. She does not belong then."

" I understand," he said, see-sawing sluggishly, his aspect moping on my face, searching for the verity." And you suppose I can help with that? That I can impact Caden's decision?"

“Yes, " I allowed, my smile widening, a swell of triumph coursing through me. You can be the perfect pawn in my game, the instrument of her downfall. " You are a friend of the Alpha's," I said, my voice conclusive, laced with overpraise." Your words carry weight. Your thoughts will be taken seriously. However, it would make a difference, If you were to express your thoughts about her presence. It would show Caden that the pack is united in their opinion."

" I see," he said, his eyes thoughtful, his aspect shifting to the bottom." And what if I were to differ? What if I were to suppose she deserves a chance?"

" You would be going against the stylish interests of the pack," I said, my voice laced with a hint of warning, a subtle trouble hidden beneath the face." And against the wishes of the nascence. You wouldn't want to fail Caden, would you?"

He dithered, his aspect moping on my face, searching for any sign of deception. He is considering it, I allowed a swell of triumph coursing through me. He wants to help Caden, and I will use that for my

advantage, to manipulate him like a poppet.

" I understand," he said, seesawing sluggishly, his voice laced with a hint of abdication." I'll consider what you've said. I need time to think."

" Good," I said, my smile widening, a picture of satisfaction." I knew you'd see the reason. You are a pious friend, Ryker. Caden is lucky to have you."

I turned to leave, but broke, looking back at him, my eyes filled with a calculated intensity." Good job, Ryker," I said, my voice laced with a hint of imminence, a subtle memorial of the consequences." The pack's future depends on it. Caden's future depends on it."

As I walked down, I could not help but smile, a slow, raptorial grin that revealed the depths of my ambition.

Ryker was the perfect tool, a means to an end. He was pious to Caden, and he was fluently manipulated, a pawn in my grand game. With many well-placed words, I had planted the seeds of mistrustfulness in his mind, nurturing the fear and dubitation that would drive him to act. He'd act, and Emerald would be gone, banished from the pack.

“She didn't stand a chance, " I allowed, a swell of power coursing through me, a feeling of absolute control. " This pack is mine, and I will not let anyone take it from me. Not Emerald, not anyone. "

I had to ensure that Ryker acted snappily before Emerald could gain any further influence. I would continue to subtly impact him, feeding him bits of information, playing on his fidelity and his desire to help Caden, and twisting his comprehension until he saw Emerald as trouble.

Emerald's fate was sealed.

“ Soon, " I allowed, my smile widening, a vision of triumph in my mind. " Soon, she will be gone, and everything will be as it should be. The pack will be mine, Caden will be mine, and my power will be

absolute."

Ryker’s desire to help his friend would be his provocation, and I would use that to ensure Emerald’s junking.

Every word, every action, would be a calculated move in my grand plan, a step closer to my ultimate thing.

My path to power would be cleared, and nothing would stand in my way.
