Chapter 56 Fifty six
Chapter 56 Fifty six
Dorian
The elevator doors closed behind me with a soft, final click.
I stepped into the underground garage, my shoes echoing sharply on the concrete. My driver was already waiting beside the black town car, door open. I slid into the back seat without a word. The engine purred to life, and we pulled smoothly out into the Chicago streets.
I leaned back against the leather, staring at the city sliding past the tinted windows. My jaw was still tight from the meeting with Aldric. The photograph of Zander and that omega bitch was burned into my mind. The way my daughter had looked when she told me what happened bleeding, humiliated, furious, it made something cold and ugly twist in my chest.
Celeste.
My perfect, polished daughter. The one I had groomed since she was a child to stand beside Zander Ashveil and rule. She was meant to be his mate, his equal. The bridge between our packs, the future and now that worthless omega had her claws in him.
I smiled slowly, but there was no warmth in it.
I had always known this day might come. From the moment Aldric first came to me all those years ago, eyes cold and bitter, and said the words I had never wanted to hear:
“The boy has a fated mate. An omega. Weak bloodline. She will ruin everything we have planned.”
That fateful afternoon in my old study. Aldric standing by the window, voice low, telling me the truth he had discovered through his watchers. Zander’s wolf had locked onto a low-born omega girl. A nobody. Someone who would drag the Ashveil name down into the dirt.
I had felt the jealousy then, bitter and immediate. Why should Aldric’s son get a fated mate when my own daughter had been carefully matched for power, not destiny? Celeste was beautiful, intelligent, politically perfect. She had been raised to rule at Zander’s side and some random omega thought she could take that from her?
No.
I had helped Aldric plan the rejection that night, we also formed the compound given to Zander.
I had been the one to suggest the public humiliation. The cold words, it was calmy written and executed by zander without his conscious consent...so good it came with an applause from the pack. I had stood in the shadows and watched that small girl kneel while Zander spoke the lines we had fed him. “You are nothing. Less than nothing. You are disgusting.” I had felt a deep, vicious satisfaction when she stayed on her knees, broken and silent, while the entire hall cheered.
We had removed the threat, and had protected the alliance.
We had secured the future, but now, months later, that same girl had returned wearing a new name and a new scent, and she was threatening to undo everything.
My driver turned onto the highway. The city lights streaked past like accusations.
I closed my eyes for a moment, letting the memories play.
That night had been perfect. Zander had performed exactly as instructed. The girl had been destroyed publicly and the pack had seen strength. The alliance had been strengthened, my Celeste had stood beside me later that evening, smiling her perfect smile, knowing she was safe. Knowing she would one day wear the crown I had prepared for her.
And now?
Now Zander was fucking that same girl in his penthouse while my daughter bled from her claws.
My hands clenched into fists on my lap.
Jealousy burned hot in my veins the same jealous rage I saw in Celeste’s eyes when she told me what happened. She was my daughter through and through. Ambitious, possessive and unwilling to lose what was hers.
I would not let this omega whore take it from her.
The car slowed as we approached my building. The driver pulled into the private garage.
I opened my eyes, a cold, scheming smile forming on my lips.
Aldric thought he could handle this with words and threats. He thought a father-son talk would fix it.
He was wrong.
I had always been the one willing to do what was necessary.
If Zander refused to let her go…
Then we would remove her quietly and permanently
The driver opened my door.
I stepped out, smoothing my suit jacket, the smile still playing at the corners of my mouth.
Celeste would get her justice, the alliance would be saved.
And that omega who had dared to come back for revenge would finally learn what happened when you challenged the wrong men.
I walked toward the door, my mind already turning over the next moves.
The game wasn’t over, it had only just begun and this time, I would make sure the omega did not walk away.
