Chapter 15 Rid Of You

Chapter 15 Rid Of You
I stopped by the door, unable to leave it. There was no noise coming from within, and I bit down on my lips, my chest heaving hard.

What if he was there at the basketball court when I scented him? What if he heard us?

I stopped my train of thoughts. Why would he care if there was something between Kian and I? Wait. There can't be anything between Kian and I. I am a man in here, and I can't let feelings compromise that. Hell, I can't even let the natebond compromise that.

I started to walk away from the door but then stopped and slowly walked back. I clenched my hand into a fist and slowly knocked on the door.

There was no answer. Not like I was very expectant of one, but hell, it still hurt. I would probably have to make do with the library tonight.

I turned around. The room was already secluded, and was away from the rest of the regular rooms. There was no one around either.

I knocked on the door yet again. There was no answer.

Accepting defeat, I slowly made my way down to the library. Luckily, Knox wasn't close, and I closed the library door behind me and made my way down towards the open space.

There was no bedding force to use, and honestly I have already inconvenienced Knox enough, so I wasn't going to risk Eros' anger by going to him to ask for bedding.

I stood there, my head low, my chest heaving as I looked down at the cold floor. With a small sigh, I removed my shoes and started to lay down.

"I want to get rid of you," came Alpha Eros's voice.

I stopped and turned, my chest heaving as my heart went into instant overdrive.

He was sitting on a table to my right, his back on the wall, his eyes solemn. The library was mostly dark, but I could see the solid ice in his eyes, the emotionlessness etched in his face.

I swallowed hard, straightening to face him. "What did I do wrong?"

He gave a slow shrug, his eyes leaving mine for a moment. "I don't need a reason to want to get rid of you, Kian. You make me restless in a way that I do not like."

I bit down on my lips hard. "Who would have thought? Somebody who is akin to an omega like me would make the almighty Alpha Eros unsettled."

His eyes thinned, but he did not move. His head tilted upwards a little, and he broke into a humorless smile.

"You are endangering Knox, Kian. You are putting him at risk of me."

"Why? Why can't you leave us alone?"

He got off the table, his hands pushing into his pockets. His hair was messy, beautiful, and my treacherous wolf wanted nothing more than to push my fingers through the silky strands.

Knox appealed to my human. Eros made my devils want to crawl to him.

"I don't know either. I am not sure why I can't leave you both alone, but I hope you understand that it is your fault. If something happens to him, it will be on you, Kian."

Tears filled my eyes at the thought of Knox. Just how worried for me he had been, just how much he had helped me ever since I came here.

"Please stop torturing Knox. I am the one you hate so please..."

Before the rest of the words could leave my lips, he covered the distance to me at inhumane speed, his hand wrapping around my neck as he pushed me hard agaisnt the wall.

I gasped, my lips parting, my eyes widening as I looked up. His body pressed hard against mine, his scent filling me in ways that should never happen. In ways that my brother's murderer should never be able to do to me.

His hand held my neck a little tighter, his face leaving so close that all I could breathe was his essence.

"How dare you?" He asked, his voice a low growl, his eyes darting around my face. "How dare you have my mate and beg me for another man?"

My eyes widened, as I met his gaze. He knew? He knew I was his mate and yet... he never gave an indication, never acted like he even knew?

"You... you knew?"

Were you hoping I would not?" His voice was low, accusatory, like he wished I could just disappear. Like I was some criminal. "Were you hoping you would go off with Knox right under my nose?"

"I am not doing anything with Knox!" My wolf, my heart, every single nerve in my body was agitated, my hands trembling hard. "He just helped me when people like you looked away."

"Why am I obligated to help you? You couldn't even come in the correct form."

My jaw dropped. "What?"

He pushed me away, his hand falling away from my neck, his eyes blazing. "I will let you come back in the room tomorrow when I can look at you."

He started to turn away, but I peeled myself off the wall, a single tear running down my left cheek.

"Were you expecting a woman?" I asked, my voice breaking. "Or someone who did not merely escape being an omega?"

I hoped his answer would be the first. Maybe it would lead me to understand more about Valerian's death. Maybe it would help with the thoughts because outside of this place, I really was an omega.

He turned to me, his eyes thin. "Both. I didn't wait so fucking long for an omega male."

I blinked, my heart breaking a little. "What's wrong with an omega male?"

"Every fucking thing! I will get rid of you, Kian. Maybe not right now, but eventually. "

I swallowed hard as he turned away again. "You can't."

He stopped, then turned to me again. "What?"

"You can't get rid of me."

His brows furrowed, but I didn't let him think or react. I covered the distance before he could realize what was happening, and my hand cupped the edge of his beautifully sculpted face, my lips taking his.
