Chapter 29
With the excitement of moving to a new place, Chloe stayed awake even after coitus, availing this time to snuggle up on Edith’s chest. Likely, he was also satisfied with her attention, his face shinning with the post orgasmic glow.
Chloe caressed his face and found his fangs extended.
“Edith, it’s been a month since we are together. You are controlling your urges until now, being hard on yourself. You can drink from me, I don’t mind it.”
That were her heartfelt emotions. She was indeed uneasy with it at start, but with the passage of time, it dawned to her that she enjoyed everything with Edith.
Nonetheless, Chloe was rooting for this feeding thingy, remembering all the fantasies of Jason and Freya about beloved’s blood.
“We can try it later, Moonie. I am waiting until our new place. The hospital is near the house Allen has proposed for us.”
“Eddie is still thinking of us.”
Lulu cooed in his arms, kissing his mark gently.
“My wolf calls you ‘Eddie’, is it fine with you?”
As Lulu was urging her to give him a nickname, so she inquired hesitantly.
“Eddie?”
He savored this pet name huskily,
“Sure, Moonie.”
“Why do you call me Moonie?”
With Edith’s approval, Lulu was over this world.
“Moonie as for moon. It’s my gratitude towards Moon Goddess that She sent a wolf for me. She is really benevolent to everyone, even to vampires too.”
It was past her sleep time, so she welcomed the sleep in the comfort of his beloved’s arm and drifted to the Dreamland.
It was merely five minutes (according to Chloe) after she slept, a dream startled her. She saw herself alone on the cliff’s edge.
“Help!”
There was a blood moon shinning in the sky, indicating something ominous and dark. She ran in the opposite direction, but an invisible force was hindering her steps, pulling her back.
Her sensitive nose caught a whiff of Edith’s sandalwood scent, so she yelled at the top of her lungs,
“Eddie!”
And opened her arms for him. Her legs were cramping with struggle, her knees giving up to carrying her weight anymore. Then she flew towards the cliff, only to be pulled back by Edith’s strong arm.
“Eddie!”
She exclaimed and rested her broken body on his chest, inhaling his scent deeply. Just how she was getting relaxed in this Heavenly embrace, Edith yanked her and pushed her down the cliff.
While descending, Chloe looked at his cruel countenance wide-eyed as this wasn’t the normal face she had seen before.
.
With a scream, Chloe was jolted awake!
“What kind of joke is this, Lulu? Our problem has solved, then why did you show this horrible dream?”
She lashed out at her wolf blindly. Lulu raised his head, which was resting on her front paws.
“Sod off, Chloe. I was sleeping too. I didn’t see anything.”
Chloe’s heart sank, if that was not Lulu’s warning, then why did she alone have a nightmare like this. She searched for Edith beside her, but her bed was empty, showing no signs of him.
“Where is he?”
Chloe thought to herself and slipped into her night gown, beginning her quest of find Edith.
She checked the living area and music room, two possible places where she daily finds him. Then she checked the kitchen, maybe he was up for a midnight snack, but it was empty too.
With Edith’s disappearance, Lulu also woke up attentively and urged her to explore the store room.
“You know it’s always locked, why bother?”
“Let’s break in, Chloe!”
Unaffected by her refusal, Lulu proceeded in her suggestions.
“Eddie must be out for a hunt, let’s go through his old belongings. I want to see our competitor.”
Well, that was it for Chloe, as she was also jealous of Edith’s dedication towards his first mate. It was a reality that Edith was Chloe’s second chance mate, but he was the first man ever entered into her heart.
Naturally, she wanted to own him in every possible way. Mention of his ex in daily life was like the bitterness of neat rum, which she had to drink, no matter how much she despised it.
Chloe searched through her drawers and found a hair pin, her skill of escaping through locked rooms came in hand. In her childhood, Stark and Noah were used to imprison her in the grain’s storage room, scaring her with mice and cockroaches.
She learned this trick from her fellow omega servant boy in exchange for two sweet apples. Chloe smiled at her distant memory and pushed the pin in the door knob and surprisingly, it was already unlocked.
This intrigued her more. As she twisted the door knob carefully, there was another room before her eyes instead of a dusty store as Edith mentioned.
Enclosed within the four walls was a grand master bed, a gigantic ebony cupboard with a matching dresser. The room was clearly decorated according to a woman’s taste, purple as the main color.
“What is he hiding here?”
Chloe opened the cupboard in the hope of some clue, but it only had a blooded dress hanging in there. Mix scent of Edith and some woman startled her flickered memories of his ex, intertwined with her flaring jealousy.
“So this room is dedicated to her, just like a part of his heart.”
Chloe gripped the cupboard’s handle so firmly that it slid, the screeching sound of something heavy moving resonated the surroundings.
Amazed by the secret door that appeared within the cupboard, she stepped in without thinking about anything.
There was a long dark passage way ahead, so Lulu took the charge and aided her vision to see clearly in the dark.
Chloe moved forward cautiously and almost jumped when that door got closed behind her automatically.
“How will I go back?”
She panicked and returned to open the door but in vain.
“Eddie is not at home, he will find us through our scent. Why don’t we utilize this chance and explore the heavily guarded mysteries.”
Under Lulu’s encouragement, Chloe resumed her journey forward, to discover the shadows lurking in the darkness.
As she strode onwards, the stench of human blood grew stronger, nauseating her to the core. She covered her sensitive nose with her hand and suddenly, she stumbled on something hard.
“Ouch!”
Chloe hardly balanced herself from tripping down and jumped over the hindrance, thinking that it must be a rock or something else.
Humid air was making it difficult for her to breathe but that dress in the closet gave her strength to move on, she finally saw a wooden door at the end.
Fortunately, two fire trochee were ignited for light there.
“Someone is here!”
Chloe mustered up courage to face that person, who barged in without their consent.
Taking one deliberate step one after the other, she finally reached the destination, a surge of anticipation coursing through her body.
Strangely a hanging feeling gawked at her gut, hinting at what was to come. Yet, she pushed aside her intuition, determined to proceed for the sake of their relationship.
