Chapter 27
Ashley was staring at William in the eyes, who was not ready to accept his defeat.
“That’s none of your business. Answer my damn question!”
He calmed his nerves immediately, understanding her game of deliberately infuriating him.
“I am a witch, Ashley Graham. The one you had asked for an audience with.”
William’s jaw dropped to the floor, he was not believing his hearing,
“Come again, I didn’t hear you clearly!”
He inquired to confirm the most bizarre claim of his life.
“Cut to the chase, Prince William. Tell me, what do you want?”
Feeling insulted by his disbelief, Ashley sat angrily on the couch beside the bed.
“Your scent, you are just a vampire. How can you solve my serious issues?”
William was back to his businessman’s mind set.
“Is this enough that your special scent blocker is prepared by me?”
William nodded as this was the proof of her ability. He was indeed using a scent blocker for this party too, but with an updated feature: his scent will be normal for Royals but different for outsiders at brunch.
“I have heard about that ancient ritual of severing the soulmate’s bond. Can you perform this for me?”
He was straight to the point, Ashley shifted in the chair uncomfortably,
“There can be other ways to deal with this particular issue. This is not the end of the world.”
Ashley tried to convince him weakly.
“I have addressed my demand clearly, name your price.”
Seeing that William was persistent with his decision, Ashley straightened up.
“As you are insisting on this forbidden ritual, let me warn you beforehand.
First. This process will be very painful, you can be cursed eternally because of your ungracious behavior.
Secondly, that girl will be sick as half of her soul will be stripped down, resulting in her ultimate miserable death.”
Ashley raised her head from her grimier and locked her eyes again with William, who was now fairly agitated.
“Records state that it will be harmless for her. You are bluffing!”
He banged his fist on the wall, panting hard.
“There is no such magic in this world which is without severe consequences. The one you are demanding is the direct challenge to Goddess Sanguis itself. You think it will be a child’s play to mock Her pairing?”
“Coven stated that you are not scared to challenge Heaven’s will. What’s with all the moral crap?”
Ashley closed her grimier and stood up.
“I am just stating all the pros and cons of your rash decision. The death of your beloved can be fatal for you. Your dear Royal Uncle’s condition is not hidden from anyone. That mark will be permanent on your face, too.”
She glanced at William, who was now unsure about the proceedings.
“You have two days. Think about it. Remember my free advice, that girl is not so bad to cope up with. This ritual will be way less difficult after marking.”
Ashley bid farewell respectfully before leaving, stirring up thousands of emotions deep inside William.
…
Chloe gave a list of energy bars and carbonated drinks to Edith, who was suspicious of her sudden sugar addiction.
Sweets and energy drinks did work for her but as soon as sleep kicked in, she was helpless against it.
Unaware of her inner turmoil, Edith was as usual loving and caring, making it hard to believe that he was insane before. Chloe thought that may be it was due to staying free all day, so she started working in the kitchen regardless of Edith’s unending arguments.
“You can get hurt.”
He was constant with his reasoning, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind.
“You are with me, how can this lifeless blade harm me?”
Chloe brushed off his nonsense and continued cooking. Edith’s advances were spot on, driving her crazy sensually, but she was stubbornly putting up a brave resistance against him.
As this brawl proceeded, Edith lowered his head and kissed her mark, wobbling her knees.
“Edith!”
Chloe giggled and punched her elbow in his ribs playfully.
“Now, you are too much. Go and sit in the living room.”
She ordered him in a firm tone, ignoring his puppy eyes full of love.
“Fine!”
Edith stomped out of the kitchen like a kid whose favorite candy was snatched from him. As the basement had an open kitchen, it was easy for Chloe to keep an eye on Edith, who kept his back on her constantly.
She smiled at his childish behavior and cooked a simple soup, as she was looking forward to Edith’s first meal as well.
It was so heart-rending for her to see him like this, unable to eat or drink. With her being here, his self punishment should be ended. So, she started with a veggie broth and mixed a spoonful of blood from his stash to make it passable for him.
Next and the most important task was to convince that spoiled brat who was not ready to listen to her.
“Edith, that’s not fair. You are ignoring me.”
Chloe cried out after her sixth unsuccessful attempt of talking to him. He was staring in space like a statue, unfazed by her presence.
Lulu was worried and this led to her irrational move, she bit him. Edith was caught off guard, he looked at her wide-eyed, while placing his hand on his bleeding neck.
“Moonie, you were unreasonable before!”
But Chloe was busy in scolding her wolf,
“That was preposterous, Lulu! How can you even think about hurting our mate?”
“It wasn’t an attack, Chloe. You know nothing about us wolves. So, shut up and try to pacify him.”
Lulu was not accepting her mistake, so Chloe blocked her.
“I just wanted to cook, you were seducing me on purpose. How was this reasonable?”
Edith smiled, brightening her surroundings like daylight.
“You were not listening to me.”
He tugged her to his chest,
“I don’t want you to pay attention to anything else except me. I can’t share you even with the household chores.”
Chloe was amazed with his next-level possessiveness, so she offered him the bowl of her sincere efforts.
“It was for you, silly. I want you to eat. It’s important for me as I can’t share you with your ex, even it’s a hunger strike to honor her death.”
Her genius reply hushed him, his eyes were shinning with admiration.
“Fine, you win. I am sorry!”
Edith kissed her forehead and, with a deep sigh, tried to eat the first spoon of food in four hundred years.
“You have to swallow it too.”
Chloe instructed as he was holding it in his mouth.
“I can’t!”
He got up and rushed towards the basin, puking uncontrollably. Chloe was tensed that it was more severe than she thought.
She rubbed his back and put him to the bed.
“This was my fault, you must be feeling weak.”
Chloe rushed to the fridge, brought out the blood and emptied it into the glass.
“Our mate is ill because of us.”
Lulu was howling in her mind. Chloe was rubbing her eyes roughly, just then her waist was enveloped by lovely frostiness.
“It’s not a big deal. Don’t panic, Moonie.”
She was in Heaven again with his blessed presence. She raised her head to meet his desirous one.
“It wouldn’t be easy to be back in normal life. But I must say that your method was lacking. You should work hard.”
He gulped down the glass in one go. Chloe cleaned up the corner of his lips, catching his ambiguous signal.
“Oh yes, I should have tried different approaches.”
She sipped the spoon from the bowl on the counter and crushed his lips for a deep kiss. Edith’s hand rested behind her head, giving her support.
Chloe placed her hand on his chest, making sure that he swallowed it while devouring her.
“That’s better!”
He guaranteed in pleasure, as they lost into each other right in the kitchen.
