Chapter 25

In the next week, Chloe’s sudden sleeping issue became more serious. Finally, it was the time for them to bond and know each other well, but most of the time, she fell a sleep in the middle of the conversation.

Like yesterday, Edith accompanied her to the music room, and this time, he played guitar for her.

“You can play different instruments other than that piano?”

Chloe was pleasantly surprised, Edith bit his lower lip in an attempt to conceal his glee.

“Why? Don’t you think your mate is talented?”

He rested the guitar on the floor, popping his chin. Baffled by his statement, as there was no doubt on his capabilities, Chloe sang him a song, the only form of art she was naturally blessed with.

The one which was a bit straightforward and cheesy, but it was a perfect depiction of her feelings for him,

“Deep in my heart, there’s a fire, burning heart

Deep in my heart, there’s desire – for a star

I am dying in emotions, it’s my world in fantasy

I am living in my, living in my dreams

You are my heart, you are my soul.

That’s the only thing I really know

I’ll be holding you forever, stay with you together…”

(Lyrics by Modern Talking)

Her eyes were sketching Edith’s figure in mind, carving him at her heart. He held her hand, his eyes clouded with the purity of her emotions.

“You are naturally gifted, Chloe. There may be experienced singers out of there, but your singing is scintillating, soulful, spell binding, sincere, superb and sweet.”

With every adjective Edith used for Chloe’s praise, he took a step towards her, racing her heart as a result. With a jerk, she was clung to his chest, his hand at the back of her delicate waist.

“You know, Moonie, your voice is dangerous.”

He leaned in, whispering his complaint in his deep husky voice.

“Why?”

Chloe hardly managed to utter a word, as this proximity was exciting her in every wrong place.

“Don’t sing for everyone else, you can knockoff the whole sense from someone’s mind.”

“Touch him!”

Lulu was screaming for initiation by some intimate touches, but there was no one around from whom Chloe would borrow some guts to do it.

She raised her head and looked into his eyes, dying to dive into the depths of those oceans.

“Take me, now!”

Edith’s assuring smile was mirroring his inner desire. He picked her up in a bridal style and strolled towards their bedroom, although his steps were more urgent than usual.

And that’s when calamity struck Chloe!

She was asleep again at this crucial moment, leaving Edith alone by her side.

Her six hour long slumber ended at dinner time, her stomach jolted her awake, singing songs of empty city. As usual, Edith was not in the room, and she was growing accustomed to it.

“What’s wrong with you, Chloe? Your sleeping schedule is disturbing mine too. Remember! We two are connected, so when you sleep abruptly, I can’t stay awake after that.”

Lulu’s complaint came with a growl, Chloe too was sick and tired of her routine, thinking that Edith must be wondering about her mental health.

Her head was still heavy, so she took a quick shower and came outside to the living room, where Edith was reading a travel note.

“You are up, great. I have stocked the kitchen as you asked.”

Chloe was embarrassed that how Edith was using different methods and designed indoor activities for her interest. She sighed and stepped into the kitchen.

Edith really bought everything that she wrote on the list.

“I am cooking today, and your excuse of hunger strike will not work. Prepare yourself for a buffet.”

Chloe unsheathed the chef’s knife for cutting, in a flash it was shifted to Edith’s hand, who hissed at her,

“This deadly weapon can harm you, don’t touch it.”

His red eyes were at high protection mode, glaring at the knife accusingly like it had hurt Chloe.

“I have been using this knife since I was six years old. Most probably, we are childhood friends. I can use it safely. Please give it back to me.”

Chloe chuckled and begged with a puppy face, which calmed down his temper.

“We can order, or I can bring you a sired servant. There’s no need of step into the danger zone.”

He concluded the argument and picked her up, against her protests and made her sit on a sofa.

“Don’t move from here. I am damn serious, Moonie!”

Edith’s low warning voice dropped her heart to stomach, she nodded positively, so he left.

“Our mate is scary too.”

Lulu, who was hiding her face behind her tail, commented with an empty laugh. On the other hand, Chloe was too shocked to utter a single word.

She had witnessed his deadly aura in that bloody battle, but when it was directed towards her, she was scared out of her wits. She sat there mindlessly for half an hour when Edith returned in his normal loving mode,

“Come, Moonie. I have something to show you.”

He spread his palm before Chloe, she placed her hand on it and followed him like a robot, walking through the long corridor which connected the basement to the rest of the world.

“This corridor is too long. I am tired.”

Lulu’s complaint diverted Chloe’s attention. She noticed the surroundings, where lavish walls were adorned with expensive paintings.

Edith was silent, only the sound of their heart beats were resonating in the surrounding, shattering the pin-drop silence there. Chloe realized that she hadn’t seen the sun in these days, despite the fact that she was a morning person.

Indeed, love can intoxicate you completely!

After several turns, which she couldn’t remember, the main door of the basement lead them to the backyard of the Villa, their last experiment point.

“Surprise!”

Chloe had to place her hands at the ears as Freya, Jason, and William screamed at the top of their lungs.

“Welcome, Royal Aunt! We are so happy to see you.”

William was way excited to see Chloe alive and healthy. As only Freya was as allowed for a handshake, everyone sat around the table for dinner.

“Wolfe, how’s everything?”

Jason mind-linked her, but he was hushed to death when Edith pulled Chloe on his lap and placed his hand (of course his pointed nails extended) on the table.

“You are here just because Moonie’s wolf considers you her Alpha. Otherwise, you can’t talk to her, even by mind link.”

William coughed and Freya made a face at Jason, who was red with sheer awkwardness.

“Royal Uncle, can’t you let it slip? It was just an act!”

Jason pleaded to defend his case forward, but Edith’s cold voice ran a chill down the spines of the audience. Even Sarah and Mia knelt down in between serving food.

“You are alive, take this as your luck and my mercy as you are my brother’s blood. I have made myself clear before, and I don’t like to repeat myself.”

Watching everyone scared at the dinning table, Chloe placed her hand on Edith’s chest. She kissed his hand (the one on the table) and his visibly tensed muscles got relaxed, turning him into a soft, loving kitty.

“Di you like this, Moonie?”

His blue orbs took over the redness, affection flashing through them.

“Yes, of course. I love your efforts for me. You are the best mate ever.”

As Jason was shunned out of conservation, William took over the steering wheel for tonight.

“the Whole family is happy for you, Royal Aunt. Father lord was insisting a grand celebration in the whole Kingdom. However, citizens are already celebrating your harmonious love.

Royal Uncle, What’s your thoughts about Wedding Ceremony?”

William cautiously diverted his comment to the most anticipated question of the entire Royal family. What a diplomat he is!

Edith was again serious at William’s query, his deep but resolute voice rang in their ears,

“There will be no Wedding Ceremony!”
