Seducing the enemy

Chapter 87

Iris

Fortunately, I had a room to myself so I had my privacy. Elda might have done that so that he would have the liberty of not being questioned, but he didn't know how much he helped me.

A weak Hazel stumbled into my room the next morning and collapsed on the bed. My anger and frustration were temporarily forgotten as I rushed to her.

"What is the matter? Were you drugged as well?" I asked, worriedly.

"Yes," She nodded then tried to sit up. "Hegar... Where is Hegar?" Her voice was shrill, almost inaudible and it hurt me that my vibrant friend had turned to the shadow of herself in less than twenty-four hours.

I pulled her into my arms and caressed her head tenderly. "Hegar will be fine. I'm sure he's trying to get Gradel out of that horrible place so don't worry about him too much, alright?"

She lifted her face and stared at me with so much expectation. "Are you sure? He said that he would come but he isn't here..." She trailed off.

Her eyelids were closing and her temperature had risen beyond normal, causing her to shiver, so I dropped her gently and went to the kitchen. Some of the maids who were whispering clamped their lips shut as soon as I stepped in.

"Maria," I called, ignoring their baseless gossip.

A young lady strolled forward and bowed but the look of disgust on her face couldn't be mistaken. That didn't bother me because I was more concerned about my friend's health.

Maybe later, they'd realize that I wasn't a traitor as they thought.

"Prepare an energy potion and bring a bowl of spinach soup along. It's urgent, don't make me wait," I ordered, employing my Luna tone.

"Yes, ma'am." She replied.

I rushed back to my room after asking two other maids to follow me and then I ordered them to prepare a cold bath for her.

Her teeth rattled as her body continued to tremble while she held onto my pillow. My heart was moved with pity for her and I hurried the maids to be quick with her bath.

When they finished, they helped her into the bathtub and then I sent all of them out of the room.

"Please, stay with me, Hazel," I croaked, dabbing her forehead with a wet towel. "We have to be strong to fight that wicked Elda and liberate our people,"

She turned her head to the side, her face ashen and when I checked her temperature again, relief settled in. She was getting better at least and if only I could find Silas...

Unfortunately, I wasn't sure Silas was still loyal to Gradel or if he had run away as well.

By the time I was done bathing her, the potion and soup I asked for had already been prepared. With the help of Maria, we straightened her body on the bed and I placed a pillow behind her neck then began to feed her.

An idea dropped in my mind as soon as she gulped the last content of the soup. I couldn't allow Gradel to receive any more poison. He hadn't recovered from the jab of yesterday and if he took another one, I wasn't sure he'd last till thirty days.

With that, I sprung to my feet and dashed to my wardrobe. My eyes caught the sight of a black lace lingerie that I bought the first time Gradel and I went shopping.

I never had the chance to wear it in front of him, and now the first person that would see me in such a dress was a stranger, but it was for a good cause.

So I quickly tossed it on and covered my body matching black robe, used a perfume and traipsed to his chamber.

My heart thumped hard against my chest in trepidation and my palms became clammy with sweat, but there was no going back. I let him know that I was the one and then I was granted access to his room.

I was blown away by the magnificent size of his room. How did he locate the biggest room... Wait, this belonged to the late Alpha and Gradel hadn't even thought of moving in yet.

Each step Elda took solidified my decision to bring him down. I'd be that cornerstone that they all rejected.

He lifted his face from the books in front of him and a smile appeared on his face. I snorted but returned the smile even though it was fake.

"It's surprising that you came to see me so early this morning, looking drop-dead gorgeous. Is there any problem?" He smirked and stood up, taking me into his arms.

Being close to him made me want to puke and his aura disgusted me, but I ignored the feeling and swallowed.

"Is it a crime to visit? I missed you, sweetheart. That's why I'm here," I wiggled out of his grip and pushed him onto the bed with my finger.

He landed on it and then I slowly took off my robe so that I'd be left in my black lace lingerie. My creamy thighs were visible and the swell of my breasts rose above the sweetheart neckline.

His eyes blared with unbridled lust that I was ready to capitalize on. I sank onto the bed and crawled towards him. He leaned on the headboard in anticipation.

I ran my tongue over my lips and trailed my fingers along my chest. "Don't you want this?" I lowered the strap of my lingerie to tease him and with how he drooled at me, I knew it was working.

He gulped, his breathing turning erratic and he nodded. "Of course, I want you so much. You are so beautiful, Iris..." He said with a breathy voice.

I straddled his waist, his bulge poking at my entrance and I smiled inwardly.

"Well, you have to pay a certain price to get me, you know..." I drawled, my voice soft and subtle.

He cupped my cheeks and peered at me. "Tell me what you want and I'll do it for you,"

I pouted my lips and sighed, trying to move away from him but he held onto me, desperately. "Are you sure that you can do it?"

"Yes, baby. Just name it and you'll have it," He insisted.

"Let me be the one to inject the poison into Gradel,"
