Mate Bond
Mate Bond
Alpha Gareth
“Why are you stalking me?” Leiah bellowed.
We both stood on the side of a quiet road.
“The last thing I want to do is stalk you, Leaih,” I replied.
However, a huge part of me knew I was lying. My wolf drove me to find her. I never knew the mate bond to be this strong. Or was I took weak from being asleep for over five years? When I got together with Eva, there was no resistance. We just fell into each other.
“Then why are you here?” She crossed her arms.
My mouth suddenly became dry. She left without saying goodbye. Aside from the intense sexual pull towards her, I also had an incredible sense to protect her.
“I have business in the Sanders Pack. This was a coincidence,” I lied.
She turned her head and noticed the brand-new army green SUV parked on the side of the road.
“I’m busy. I don’t have time for you.” She started walking.
I blocked her path. “Busy with what? With who?” A ping of jealousy hit me.
“Get off me, I don’t owe you any explanations.”
I chuckled. “So feisty, Leiah. Can’t you submit? Even a little bit?”
I wrapped my hand around her waist and brought her to my body. I enjoyed baiting her. She didn’t back down even as an omega. It was the ultimate turn on. I couldn’t enjoy this too much, though, we agreed not to keep this bond.
I needed her to get better so we could end this connection.
“I can make you submit… right here on the side of the road for the whole pack to see.”
Her lips parted, and she shivered. That reaction made my dick hard.
“You like that, don’t you?”
“No,” she whispered.
“Come on, Leiah. Tell me how much you like it.”
The corners of her lips curled. “I know you wouldn’t like howling to the sun because I smashed your balls. I may be an omega now, but I can still kick your ass.”
I grimaced. “Ouch, Leiah.”
I let her go before she really had me howling at the moon. She was the only reason I was in this pack. My wolf wouldn’t let me return without her.
That wouldn’t go down nicely with Leiah.
“Where are you going? Let me take you there.”
She opened her mouth to speak before closing her lips.
“I’m not going anywhere important. You don’t have to give me a lift.”
Her voice was soft, and her features seemed unthreatening, a total contrast to the woman who threatened to smash my balls mere seconds ago.
“Well, it’s not like I had anything better to do. Kade’s not back yet.”
“Gareth…”
Her fingers wrapped around her throat, and her breathing strained.
“What’s wrong?” I demanded.
She shook her head, keeping her hand around her throat.
“I… can’t…”
“Leiah,” I growled.
I kept her panic through our bond. My own panic escalated. I picked her up and carried her to the car.
“You’ll be fine,” I told her. “Just breathe.”
She shook her head again. “Can’t…”
She can’t breathe. She needs a hospital. She reached out for my hand, but it slipped and fell to her side. Her eyes closed shut, and her head rolled to the side.
“No!”
I can’t lose another mate!
“She’s going to be fine, Your Highness,” My pack doctor said.
I took a risk by taking her out of her pack and bringing her to mine. I knew if I left her there, the chances of me keeping her safe were minimal. She’s better off with me as long as the mate bond’s still intact.
“Why did she pass out?” I asked.
The doctor sighed and shrugged his shoulders. “From what you told me about her injury, it’s possible that her wolf did this to her.”
“Is her wolf trying to kill her?” I raised a brow.
“I can’t say for sure.”
“Do more tests. She’s important.”
The doctor bowed. “Yes, Your Highness.”
“Go.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
“Wait. No one can know about her or that she’s important.”
The doctor bowed one more time before he exited my private chambers. Once he was gone, I paced the length of my room shirtless. Leiah lay in my bed, snuggled up and breathing softly.
That should have been enough for me, but her tenderness drew me near. Her scent was like a siren song. I smirked. She’d been the hard-headed one of the group. Harlow was deadly and wild, while my Eva was the power under control.
Suddenly, she stirred and murmured.
I grinned. “Isn’t she adorable?”
Her eyes opened. She looked around the room before lifting the blanket from her chest to peek underneath.
“Oh, please,” I said.
She shot up. “You!”
“Relax, Cupcake,” I chuckled. “Or should I say, Little Omega?”
Her cheeks turned flaming red. She reached for something on my bedside table.
Fuck! Who put a lamp there?
I grabbed her and wrestled her before she could smash my head.
“Let me go!” She argued.
“So you can break my head?”
“Oh, that sounds absolutely wonderful.”
I slipped my knee between her thighs and pressed her down, caging her between the bed and my chest. Her heart beat so fast it worried me.
“Hey, hey, relax. I wouldn’t hurt you.”
She settled beneath me. Our eyes locked. Damn, touching her was a bad idea.
I never realised how beautiful her eyes were and how kissable her lips were. My wolf spurred me on. If I listened to him, I’d be fucked. Her lips parted.
That undid me instantly.
I closed my lips around her perfect pink lips and kissed her as if my life depended on it. An instant explosion occurred between us. I pinned her hands over her head and dominated her mouth. She should have pushed me away, but she kissed me back harder with more passion.
No matter how hard I fought myself, I couldn’t pull away.
I didn’t want to either.
