Chapter 10 — The Party (Part II)

TAYLOR’S POV:

“The boys are over there. Let’s go talk to them,” I say, pointing to the guys.

We slowly make our way to the boys, smiling at the lovely couples as I saw them expressing their love for each other.

We sneak up behind the boys on our tip toes and Charlotte yells, “Boo! You idiots!”

All of them turn around to look at us with shock and Daniel says, “What the hell was that for? This is a dinner party and not horror party.”

Emma laughs. “What’s the fun in that? I thought you weren’t a scaredy cat?”

All of us except Daniel laugh and I feel tears rolling down my cheeks as I was laughing uncontrollably.

Krystal looks around. “Where did Ava go?’

“She went to make her rounds since she is the party queen. You know how she gets when she hosts her own party.” Charlotte says, waving her hands around.

“I love her parties. I mean, look around, there are so many hot girls that I can hit on,” Kayden says, looking around appreciatively.

All of us give him a look, and he raises his hands up and says, “Don’t give me that look. I like the way I am.”

Before I could say anything, he says, “Hey Ava.”

All of us turn around, thinking Ava was behind us, but we realize that it was just a distraction, and as we turn back around, Kayden had already disappeared.

“Ava and Kayden should hook up with each other since they have the same character; the party and the people,” Emma says.

Daniel nods his head. “I can’t imagine how they will end up together even if they like each other. Maybe we should do something to spice things up for them.”

“I agree. I mean do you see the way they look at each other all the time?” I agree with Daniel.

“Let’s talk about all this later. We should be enjoying our time, not discussing about their love life,” Zach says, changing the topic.

Just then, someone taps me on my shoulder, and I turn my head to the side to see Zach. I smile at him. “Yes?”

Zach scratches his head, shuffling on his feet, nervously. “You look pretty today.”

I smirk and say, “Do I sense nervousness from the popular guy?”

Zach frowns and says, “I am taking back my words about you being pretty and I am not nervous.”

I laugh and say, “I’m sorry. You were scratching your head, so I assumed you were nervous?”

Zach punches my shoulder softly. “Apology accepted.”

“So did you all just arrive?” I ask.

Jayden heard me and said, “We arrived an hour ago. Anyway, have you checked if your group has arrived?”

Zach shakes his head. “Thanks for reminding us. Taylor and I will go check right now.”

I walk ahead and look around for my group, until I see Melissa with her grey hair, wearing a very short dress with thick make-up on her face as if she was a barbie doll. She was standing in the corner with the rest of the students who seemed to be enjoying their time.

I turn back at Zach and say to him, “I have found them. They are sitting at the corner of the table there.”

Zach nods his head in response and walks towards them with me behind, following him.

Zach smiles at them and says, “Hey everyone. I’m glad that you all could make it on time before the door closed.”

Archer, looking handsome in his blue suit, says, “Yeah we did. We planned to meet up with each other up and come here together. That’s why everyone was early.”

“That’s good. Anyway, have you all taken pictures outside at the photo booth? They are giving out free printed pictures for every photo taken.”

I looked at Grace, who was the only student councilor in their group and who I had appointed as to be the leader. We had also given her our phone numbers in case of emergencies. She looks back at me. “Not yet. But thanks for telling us. We will definitely get some pictures clicked.”

I nod my head in response and look at Melissa who was giving me disgusted looks which I assumed were because she thought that my dress was ugly. But I don’t give a damn about what she thinks of me.

The girl who I recognized as Melissa’s roommate, named Brielle says, “You look really pretty and stunning. Where did you get your dress from? I want to buy that as well.”

My lips quirk up in a joyous smile. “Thank you, that’s very kind of you to say. This dress was personally designed by my mother.”

Brielle raises her eyebrows. “Your mom is a fashion designer?”

I nod my head in response and look over to Melissa who seems to be unhappy about her friend complimenting my dress.

“What is the name of your mother’s clothing brand?” Clara asks, curiously.

I smile and say, “Little Angels.”

Melissa’s expression completely changes from unhappy to shock while the other girls gasp as if they didn’t believe what I said.

“As in the famous Little Angel fashion designer Nova Swift? The same one who designs dresses for famous celebrities when they walk down the red carpet?” Brielle asks again.

I nod my head in response and say, “Yeah that’s my mom.”

“Holy shit. Your mom is like the best designer I’ve ever seen,” Sarah gushes.

I smile. “Thanks. I will surely deliver the message to her.”

Zach interrupts us. “Sorry, but Taylor and I have somewhere to head to.”

I look at him gratefully; I could always count on him to get me out of situations I didn’t want to be in.

With that we walk away, and I say, “I should thank you for saving me.”

Zach laughs. “I can’t believe you all were talking about dresses in the middle of a party. We should be having fun and dancing until we are tired.”

I say, “Alright then. Will you be a gentleman and bring this beauty to dance?”

He smirks. “Let’s go and dance then.”

We were enjoying each other’s company until someone spills their drink on my dress. I turn to look at who could do such a thing. And it was none other than Melissa; that bitch, who had that fake sorry face which made me want to say a thousand nasty things about her.

Before I could say anything, Zach puts his palm on my shoulder, giving me a look. I realize people are staring at us, wondering what happened. I calm myself down, deciding not to create a fuss about this; I don’t want the teachers to get involved.

Melissa gives me a fake concern look. “I am so sorry Taylor. I didn’t mean that. I accidentally trip onto my dress and spilt my drink on you. Are you okay?”

I hide my anger in me and say, “Yep, it’s alright. I’ll just go to the bathroom to clean up this mess.”

I turn to Zach and whisper in his ear. “I’ll be right back. Make sure she gets away by the time I come back or else I am going to make her look really bad.”

Zach chuckles. “Alright.”

I leave her hanging there, lifting up my dress and look back at her disappointed face; I knew she expected me to talk back to her. I smirk at her sad face.

I’m in the bathroom cleaning my dress which I was glad was dark red in color; if not, the color of the drink would have been visible to everyone and all of them will surely want to know what happened.

I take a few tissues, wet them with water and clean it; it really cleaned it up well as once I was done, I couldn’t see the color of the drink anymore. I dry the wet spot with the hand dryer and look at the mirror for the last time before leaving the bathroom, not expecting to see a particular person outside of the bathroom waiting for me…
