Chapter 67: The next morning

Chapter 67: The next morning
“Or if you reject to do it willingly then you leave us no other choice but to do it ourselves by force.”

I couldn’t believe what they were asking of us to do.
The fear crept inside of my heart, making my breathing stop as panic flooded inside of me.
I looked up at Marcus feeling his arms wrap around me tighter, he was looking at the Elder that was leading this court. I could see his facial features became hard as he was glaring at the Elder, growling slightly from his chest.
“You cannot force the rejection on anyone. There is no such thing…” Marcus said fiercely but was cut off by the one standing the entire time.
"Of course none of us have such strong powers to do that, but there is one who can." He said making me look back up at him wide-eyed, looking in panic.
Can there really be someone who can break a mating bond?
Marcus snorted but the Elder continued, “I am sure that you heard of Alodar?”
I felt Marcus grew stiff at the mention of this name, but I didn’t know why.
“No one in their rightful sense of their mind would ask him for any help. He is unreliable and does as he pleases.” Marcus said to the Elders court.
I could see a few of them reluctantly agreed with Marcus as they turned and looked back at the man standing, while the others were showing no emotions nor interest.
"The word has been sent for him already and if you two decide to refuse to follow the Law by your own choice then you will be dealing with him and have it forcefully broken. Either way, the Law will be followed and no matter which way it goes, it will happen." The Elder said with a firm, determined voice as we silently listened.
“You have till tomorrow early morning to decide which way will this go.” He said then looked at the guards that were surrounding us, he said to them, “Take them back to their cell.”
Guards instantly walked closer to us, and as one tried to touch me, he was meet with an angry growl that came from Marcus.
Deciding a different approach the guard spoke, "Please follow after me."
Nodding our heads we walked after him, leaving the Council court, and walking back outside the huge like castle.
Soon after we were brought back to our cell and I couldn't hold back my sadness as tears fell over my cheeks and sobs racked through my body making me cry uncontrollably.
Marcus was holding me the entire time, whispering sweet comforting words but the pain in my heart just didn’t want to go away.
This might have been our last moments together as mates.
Looking up with my teary eyes, I took his gorgeous features in, thinking how lucky I am to be his mate.
The look in his eyes was warm and soothing, filled with so much love, so much that it took my breath away. He wiped away the tears from my cheeks and pressed his lips firmly onto mine.
The kiss was hungry, showing off how frustrated with the court's decision we were. It was an angry kiss that soon enough turned into a passionate kiss.
He pressed me closer into his warm, firm body as the kiss deepened. The explosion of tingles was like a rush that ran through my body.
The need, the desire we both felt for each other was so strong that we had to break our kiss, leaning our foreheads together, as we tried to catch our breaths.
Our eyes never left the others the whole time and I saw his smirk at me when he saw my flushed cheeks.
“You are breathtaking in every way there is possible.” His gruff voice, filled with passion, reached my ears making me grow red even more.
“You do know that you are so adorable when you’re blushing. Makes me want to eat you then.” Pulling away, he said to me still having that smirk on his lips to which he added a wink.
For a moment we forgot about what happened today, and what is to happen tomorrow and decided to make the best of our time together and be happy.
But soon enough the harsh truth of reality hit me back and I couldn’t help the sadness that crept inside of me again.
Seeing the sadness showing in my eyes, Marcus held my chin gently and made me look him into his eyes.
“I won’t let them break our bond. I chose you Olivia and no matter what happens, I will always chose you.” He softly said making me whimper slightly hearing his sweet words.
"But you heard him say that they will force it to happen if we won't do it willingly," I said as my voice broke near the end.
His growl came as a response, he pulled me off of his lap and gently placed me onto the bed as he stood up and started to walk around the cell like a furious caged animal.
“Marcus?” I called him, seeing him rake through his hair with his hand, pulling at the ends, he stopped and looked at me for a second as his chest was rising and falling in a fast motion.
“D-do you want that?" his question came as a surprise, as the sound of his voice was strained by emotions.
“What do you mean?” I asked him feeling confused by his question.
Exhaling deeply, he closed his eyes tightly as he said, “Do you want to reject our bond willingly?”
A gasp escaped my lips making him open his eyes and search my face.
I stood up fast and walked towards him. I didn’t stop until I was standing right before him, looking him deep into his eyes, I said, “I could never reject our bond, not now, not ever. You are mine and I am yours.”
Rising up on my tiptoes, I reached with my arms behind his neck and pulled him down towards me as I pressed my lips onto his.
His arms were fast to wrap around my waist, bringing me closer to him as he deepened our kiss.
As our kiss ended, he looked me in my eyes and said, “I know, I just had to ask as I needed to hear it.” He smiled down at me.
“What are we going to do?” I asked him, still holding tightly onto him.
He took a deep breath, letting it out exhausted. I knew he was tired as he was watching over me the whole night long.
“We need to get out of here or…” he stopped abruptly not finishing his sentence.
I watched him as he was inspecting the cell walls, searching for something.
Not letting it go like this, unfinished I took a step in the middle of the cell and asked him, “Or what?”
He was pressing on the stone, touching every inch of the wall, trying to see if there is some way to find a loose side or something, but it was more irritating me as he was intentionally avoiding to answer.
Stomping my foot down, he turned his head towards me as I repeated my question, “Or what?”
He looked at me, saying, “You won’t like it if I tell you.”
My eyes narrowed looking at him, “What Marcus? You will reject me? You will do as they say is that it?”
I was yelling feeling frustrated as I threw my hands up into the air making him move away from the wall and slowly walk towards me.
“Love, you know I would never reject you and I would let them do to me anything the hell they want before I would ever accept to reject you.” He said slowly, reaching out to hold my hand.
“Then what Marcus? What I wouldn’t like?” I asked him, exhaling out trying to calm down.
I saw him swallow before he said, “If we don’t find a way to break out from this cell, tomorrow morning when we are there I will let Shadow out, and fight them, I am not giving up on you.”
My eyes widened as he said the words that made me blink a couple of times.
I was not sure if I heard him right.
"Fight them? Marcus, you can't fight them, they will kill you!" tears fell down my cheeks as he held my face in his palms.
"I'll rather die than ever lose you, my love." He said looking deeply into my teary eyes, "Plus, have some fate in your mate. I am not a bad fighter nor weak, I can stand my ground for long as it is possible to." He smirked, kissed the tip of my nose as he said that.
“It is not funny Marcus. It has nothing to do with me not having faith in you or your abilities. You know well that there are Elders from all shifter realms. Then also there are guards and this new whoever this guy Alodar is too. I will not stand and watch how they are killing you.” I said with fear seeping from my voice.
"No, you will not my love, because when I tell you to run, you will run outside and far away from here. I will come after you as soon as I can, and I will find you." He said with a determined voice.
“No! I can’t leave you! Don’t ask that of me.” I started to sob as my voice broke, making him pull me into his warm embrace.
“If I know that you are away from danger my love, I won’t have to worry that someone might hurt you, so please do as I said and I will come after you.” He said, kissing the top of my head.
I couldn’t speak, as I broke into tears, holding onto him as holding onto my dear life.
I couldn’t lose him, not now, not ever.
O dear Moon Goddess please help us!
I prayed silently, feeling Marcus pulling me up into his arms as he carried me to the bed.
I curled into him, sitting in his lap, crying from the feeling of injustice, and saying silent prayers to the Goddess in hopes of some way for us to get away and stay together.
I don't know how much has passed, as a loud noise woke me up from the sleep that I have fallen as I made myself cry to sleep in the arms of my mate.
There were grunts heard, and a thud as something fell down on the ground. Marcus looked down at me, “Stay here.”
He picked me up and placed me gently down on the bed. I looked up through the small window that was high up in our cell, to realize it is morning already.
The realization hit me hard when it hit me that the noises that woke me up were guards coming for us to take us to the court so the breaking of our bond can be done.
Pressing my palm over my fast-beating heart, I made myself to take deep breaths in hopes to manage to calm down.
I looked over at Marcus who went to the cell door, trying to see better who was coming.
I couldn't believe this was our last moments that we are connected to, to feel this powerful pull of our bond that tied us together. A gift given by the Moon Goddess was soon to be a gift that is taken away from us.
I closed my eyes, willing the tears to stay in, not wanting them to see me breaking down. Wanting to be brave for myself and for my mate.
Will I lose him today? Remembering the words he said, to run the moment we enter as he will shift and fight them all, I couldn’t help feeling the fear of losing him gripping tightly onto my heart.
I heard a commotion as loud heavy footsteps came towards us, hearing Marcus ask, “What are you doing here?”
Confused, I raised my eyes, blinking few times to clear my vision, not believing what I was seeing.
“Did you miss me?”
Not believing what am seeing, an all too familiar smiling face came into the line of my sight, winking at us, I heard his familiar voice making me stand up from the bed and say, “Damon?”
