Chapter 122
Chapter 122
122\. Rachael.
I spent my time with Lyanna, trying to meditate and control my powers. She always stressed about the balance, saying it would be very important if I knew it.
"Meditation brings balance both to the mind and body," Lyanna explained, her voice calm and soothing. "To control a power like yours, you need to have a sound mind and body." She looked at me expectantly, as if waiting for me to grasp the importance of her words.
I raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "Does that mean I have to close my eyes and hum for several minutes?" I glanced at the candles inside her room, feeling a bit amused. Lyanna's expression changed, and she frowned, seeming really offended.
"What? No! What did my candles do to you?" she asked, her voice laced with mock indignation. I chuckled and apologized, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Oh—I—sorry. I never meant it that way."
Lyanna's expression softened, and she laughed. "Just kidding! Why is it that people always think meditation is humming and closing your eyes for several minutes? That's some kind of stereotype." I sighed in relief and sat cross-legged on the floor just beside her.
"Let's get on with the power training," I said, feeling a bit impatient. "I can already freely control it to some extent. This seems really boring." I also felt hungry, despite having eaten a pack of cookies just an hour ago. Lyanna smiled and clapped her hands together.
"Okay, let's do it this way," she said. "I will tell you some quick facts, and we'll get on with it, okay?" I shrugged in response, and Lyanna asked her question without hesitation.
"Do you know why you are referred to as a hybrid?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. I raised my brows, thinking for a moment before responding.
"Because my father isn't a proper Werewolf," I said. "His DNA was altered when they did experiments on him, meaning I only have half the genes in me from my mother's side." Lyanna nodded, seeming impressed.
"That's right," she said. "Your unique genetic makeup is what makes your powers so special. Lyanna nodded.
"It's also because your power nullifies your wolf side," Lyanna said, her eyes fixed on the strands of my hair as she gently pulled them apart, revealing the fine white strands among the darker ones. "This is testament that your powers have fully manifested," she explained, her voice filled with a mix of fascination and curiosity.
I raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit amused by the sight of my own hair. "Will I go full blonde?" I teased, a hint of humour in my voice. Lyanna's expression remained serious, but a small smile played on her lips.
"We will never know," she said, her voice low and mysterious. I chuckled, feeling a bit of relief that she could still laugh at my jokes.
The silence that followed was comfortable, with Lyanna studying my hair as if searching for answers to questions I didn't know existed. I watched her, feeling a sense of wonder at the way she seemed to understand things about me that I didn't even understand myself.
After a moment, Lyanna looked up, her eyes locking onto mine. "Your powers are still growing, still evolving," she said. "It's hard to predict what will happen next."
"Now, let's meditate," Lyanna said, her voice calm and soothing. She sat in front of me, holding my hands in hers. "I will help you. Just follow my lead." I closed my eyes, feeling a sense of calm wash over me as I listened to Lyanna's voice guiding me through the meditation.
"Listen to the one within," she whispered, her wrist pressing slightly on mine as she rubbed my palms with her thumbs in a gentle, soothing motion. It felt like a massage, and I found myself relaxing into the touch. "Clear your mind of doubt," she continued, her voice steady and reassuring.
As she spoke, she began to rub my arms, her touch gentle and calming. I felt my muscles relax, and my mind began to quiet. I was surprised to find myself enjoying the meditation and massage session. It was a welcome respite from the chaos and uncertainty that had been plaguing me.
But just as I was starting to feel like I was getting into a meditative state, Lyanna stopped moving. I opened my eyes to find her looking at me with a mixture of amusement and exasperation. "Clear your mind—why do I feel like you are getting carried away?" she asked. Her face turned into a frown.
I glanced down at my stomach, feeling a bit sheepish. "I'm trying, I'm really trying," I said. "But I'm hungry." Lyanna's expression changed from serious to speechless, and then she suddenly broke into laughter.
"You never cease to amaze me," she said, her eyes sparkling with mirth. I couldn't help but laugh along with her, feeling a bit silly for letting my hunger get the better of me. Lyanna's laughter was infectious, and soon we were both giggling together, the tension and seriousness of the moment forgotten.
"Okay fine, let's do this. Go for an hour break, and come back to me alright?" Lyanna suggested.
"Fine by me." I got up, dusted my feet, and picked up my large coat. "I will see you in an hour." I waved at her. If Sarah were here, I would just tell her to get it but she was quite busy these days, especially since the death of the Alpha.
"Don't be late!" She said as I closed the door.
I walked through the corridors and noticed that Lyanna's temporary chamber was conveniently located not too far from my room. As I turned a corner, I caught sight of Nathan standing at the end of the corridor, surrounded by several guards. He was watching me, his eyes fixed intently on me, but I chose to ignore him.
I didn't break the stride, my feet carrying me purposefully towards my room. I could feel Nathan's gaze on me, but I refused to acknowledge it. Instead, I focused on the door to my room, the familiar wooden panel a welcome sight.
As I pushed open the door, I stepped inside, and Sarah, who was rummaging through my wardrobe, was startled by the sudden movement.
"Sarah?" I thought she was very busy or on a mission from Ethan.
She frantically closed the wardrobe and sighed deeply. "You scared me, my lady. I wasn't expecting you so soon," she replied. "I was just arranging your clothes."
It was the first time I had seen her startled. I chose not to dwell on the matter. "Can I get some cookies? Since you are here? With a juice bottle? I'm really famished."
She pointed. "Sure, I can help with that." She walked around me and left the room.
Our interaction was very awkward, even as I tried not to dwell on it. But then, my attention went to my wardrobe. I walked slowly, towards it and noticed nothing was out of place, except one thing.
The Brown Diary. It was far from where I placed it before.
