Future Plans

The evening had settled in, a peaceful quiet enveloping the apartment, broken only by the soft clink of glasses and the faint hum of city life in the distance. Victoria sat on the couch, a glass of wine in hand, her eyes focused on the canvas before her.

The room was filled with the aroma of fresh paint, an ever-present reminder of the work she poured her soul into. Zander, sitting across from her, leaned back in the chair, his eyes fixed on her with a quiet admiration.

“You know,” Zander said, breaking the comfortable silence, “sometimes I can’t help but wonder what our life will look like in a few years.”

Victoria’s fingers paused on the brush, her eyes lifting to meet his. “What do you mean?”

Zander smiled, his gaze steady. “I mean, we’ve come so far already, and I keep thinking about where we’re going. I want to know your dreams. Not just about today or tomorrow, but about the future. What do you see for us?”

Victoria sat back, her mind racing. She had never fully allowed herself to envision what the future might hold, always too caught up in the present or the obstacles that had seemed insurmountable. But with Zander by her side, the idea of a future, a life built together, felt more possible than ever.

“I think about it sometimes,” she began, her voice soft, thoughtful. “I imagine us building a home. Somewhere quiet, surrounded by nature. A place where we can grow old together, where Ethan can run around, where we can create, where life isn’t so rushed.”

Zander nodded, his expression gentle. “I can see that. A home for the three of us, a place where we can just be. But what about your art? I know how much it means to you. I know you want to keep growing, pushing boundaries.”

Victoria smiled, a spark of excitement in her eyes. “Yes, definitely. I want to do more, you know? I’ve always wanted to have my own gallery, a space where I can showcase not just my work, but the work of others who inspire me. A place where art can truly be experienced, not just seen, but felt.” She paused, lost in the thought. “I want to take my art beyond what I’ve done so far. I’ve been working on this series of paintings based on memories—our memories, our love, our family. It feels like the right time to push myself.”

Zander leaned forward, his voice filled with passion. “I think that’s incredible. I want to see that. I want to help make it happen. Maybe we can even collaborate on something. You with your art, and me with the wine. We could host an event, a night of fine art and wine, bringing people together. A place where art, beauty, and community come alive.”

Victoria’s heart fluttered at the thought. “I love that idea. A night where we merge our passions, where people can connect on a deeper level. A place where they can see and feel the same way we do about life, about love.”

Zander smiled, his gaze unwavering. “We could make it something that represents us. Our journey, our growth. And we could bring in other artists, local ones, and create a space for them to share their voices too.”

Victoria took a deep breath, her eyes searching his. “Do you really think we can do it? That we can create something like that together?”

“Absolutely,” Zander said, without hesitation. “We’re a team, Victoria. We’ve already built so much together. A gallery, an event, even a life—none of it seems impossible with you by my side.”

She smiled, her heart swelling with affection. “I never thought I’d find someone who believed in me like this. But you—”

“I believe in you because I see you, Vic,” Zander interrupted, his voice steady and full of warmth. “You’re not just a dreamer; you’re someone who makes things happen. And I want to be there, by your side, to help you make those dreams a reality.”

Victoria’s smile deepened, her eyes glistening with emotion. “I think we’re already on our way, Zander. Every day we’re building something new, something beautiful.”

There was a moment of quiet between them, a shared understanding settling in the space, before Zander spoke again.

“And what about us? Our relationship—our future together? Where do you see us in the next few years?”

Victoria’s heart skipped a beat. The weight of his question was not lost on her, and she took a moment to collect her thoughts. She had never imagined her life would take the turn it had, but now that it had, she couldn’t picture herself anywhere else but with him.

“I see us,” she said, her voice soft yet certain, “growing together. Always supporting each other. We’ll keep learning and evolving, but I think, above all else, I see us continuing to choose each other every day. Because I don’t want a future without you, Zander. You’re a part of everything I want, everything I need.”

Zander’s expression softened, and he reached across the table, his hand finding hers. “You’ll never have to worry about that. I’m here. Always.”

Victoria’s breath caught in her throat, the weight of his words settling in her chest, filling her with a sense of calm and belonging she hadn’t known she could feel.

They sat there, hands intertwined, lost in the quiet promise of the future that awaited them. The world outside carried on, but in that moment, everything felt certain. They were building something real, something lasting, together.

After a few moments of comfortable silence, Victoria spoke again, a playful smile tugging at her lips. “So, you’re really okay with the idea of living in the middle of nowhere with me, surrounded by nothing but nature and art?”

Zander grinned, squeezing her hand. “I think it sounds perfect. As long as I have you by my side, I’m good with whatever comes our way.”

Victoria laughed softly. “Good, because I’m not changing my mind.”

Zander chuckled, his thumb gently brushing over the back of her hand. “I wouldn’t expect you to.”

As they sat there, the vision of their future—a life of love, creativity, and endless possibilities—seemed clearer than ever. And no matter where their journey took them, Victoria knew one thing for sure: they would face it all together, side by side.

Victoria leaned back into the couch, her mind still whirling with the possibilities of the future. It felt surreal, talking so openly about dreams that had always seemed distant or even impossible. But with Zander, everything felt within reach.

“Do you ever wonder,” she asked, her voice soft, “about how we got here? How we went from… well, nothing… to this?”

Zander chuckled, his fingers gently tapping against the armrest. “It feels like a whirlwind, doesn’t it? One moment, I was just a guy trying to keep my company afloat, and you were doing your thing, keeping your distance. And then… somehow, we collided.”

“Not somehow,” Victoria corrected with a playful smile. “It was meant to be.”

Zander raised an eyebrow. “You’re sure about that?”

Victoria leaned forward, her eyes locking with his. “I know it. Our paths weren’t just random. It feels like everything we’ve been through, everything we’ve struggled with, was leading us here.”

Zander didn’t respond immediately. He just gazed at her, his lips curving into a slight smile, as if taking in the weight of her words. Then, he shifted slightly, his voice more serious. “I agree. But I think the part I’m most grateful for is how we’ve always been able to find each other, no matter how hard things got.”

Victoria nodded, her heart swelling at the thought. “Yeah. Even when things felt like they were falling apart, you were there. And when I couldn’t see a way forward, you were the one who helped me find it.”

A silence fell between them, a comfortable, weighted kind of quiet. Zander’s expression softened as he reached out, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. His touch lingered for a moment, warm and steady.

“We’ve been through a lot,” Zander said quietly, “but I have a feeling that everything we’ve gone through is just the beginning. The real journey is ahead of us.”

Victoria’s gaze never left him as she responded. “I’m ready for it. With you.”

His eyes softened even more, and a deep, quiet smile spread across his face. He leaned forward slightly, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. “I’m always going to be ready for whatever comes next, as long as you’re with me.”

Victoria closed her eyes for a moment, feeling the weight of his words settle in her chest. “I know, Zander. And that’s all I need. You.”

A few minutes passed, the air thick with the unspoken understanding between them. Victoria’s hand rested in Zander’s, and for the first time in a long while, she allowed herself to completely relax into the moment.

It wasn’t just the future they were talking about—it was the promise of having each other through whatever life threw their way. And that, in itself, was enough.

Later that evening, as they sat together in the kitchen, working on the details of their plans, Zander looked over at Victoria, his eyes twinkling with a playful gleam. “So, about that gallery idea… do you have any other crazy dreams I should know about?”

Victoria chuckled, leaning back in her chair. “Oh, you don’t even know the half of it. I’ve been thinking about collaborating with other artists, doing immersive art experiences. A whole interactive art space. You know, where people can walk through and feel like they’re living inside the art.”

Zander grinned. “I love it. I think you’d be amazing at it.”

Victoria’s eyes gleamed with excitement. “It’s going to take time, of course, but I think we could make it happen. And if we do it right, it could really change the way people experience art.”

Zander nodded, clearly intrigued. “I think it’s a brilliant idea. Let’s figure out how we can bring that vision to life.”

Victoria paused, her eyes narrowing thoughtfully. “You know, I was also thinking about incorporating art therapy. Bringing people in who’ve never been exposed to art before, but who need a creative outlet. I want to give back, Zander. I want to show people that they have the power to create, to heal.”

Zander’s expression softened, admiration shining in his eyes. “That’s… that’s really powerful, Victoria. You’ve always had that gift, the ability to inspire and to heal. I think you’re going to change a lot of lives with that.”

Her heart swelled at his words. “I hope so. But I can’t do it alone. That’s why I need you, Zander. We can create this life together, for us, for everyone.”

Zander reached across the table, taking her hand gently in his. “You’ll never have to do it alone. I’m with you, every step of the way.”

The room was quiet for a moment, the weight of their shared commitment settling over them. Then, Victoria spoke again, her voice barely above a whisper.

“You know, the more we talk about this, the more real it becomes. I’m starting to think that maybe this future we’re dreaming of isn’t so far away after all.”

Zander smiled, his thumb brushing over her knuckles. “No, it’s not. It’s already here. All we have to do is keep building it, together.”

Victoria squeezed his hand in response, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. She had spent so long chasing dreams, running from one project to the next, never really stopping to appreciate how far she had come. But now, with Zander by her side, she could see the path ahead more clearly than ever.

And together, they would make every dream a reality.

The rest of the evening passed in a haze of laughter and planning, as they began to map out the future they both so desperately longed for. Each conversation, each idea, felt like another brick being laid down in the foundation of their shared life. It wasn’t going to be easy. There would be challenges, setbacks, and obstacles to overcome.

But one thing was certain: they were ready. Ready to face it all, together. And that was the beginning of something extraordinary.
