Chapter 26
I quite enjoyed the fact that Amelia and I have become such good friends over the past few days. Which really came to my advantage when I needed a friend to talk to. In my whole life from the moment I was born up until now I had never been on a date.
Like every teen, I've watched romance movies. Read a novel or too. Had friends who've been on countless dates, ad friends that lived to brag about such dates the following day. Nothing you read, watch, or experience 2nd hand will ever to enough to prepare you for this huge milestone in your life.
For many at this age, the huge milestone that would be heading my way would be marriage. Or giving birth to my first child. I of course had already had my first child, but it wasn't from marriage. Times like this I realize how crappy my life was been. I'm not here to sulk or complain because of course I'm still alive, aren't I? That should be all that matters, but it's not. I've missed out on so much in my life and there isn't much more time to do it. There's only 10 more years before my time is up to have the second child I wanted, one made from love not pain. This is not me denying my love for Jennifer, I love her with every being in my soul. But there's still a part of me that wants more, to have everything I never had.
Maybe even on the way give Jake everything he ever wanted, me. For years I've hated him for what he did but could never fully blame him. Now that I am back, I've realized the stone cold truth, I'm not the only one that's hurting. He regretted his mistake from day one, but me and my stubbornness didn't want to let him off the hook to soon. That simple decision postponed anything happening between us and I'd like to change that.
I'm not saying I wish to get married and run off into the sunset immediately. I'm just saying I'm going to start walking down that road again. Give us back what we deserved, and maybe my wolf will return. I have missed her greatly and being departed from her was like a part of me was always empty.
That's why I'm so anxious about tonight, I have no idea what to do. To me this is the first step, the first step for the rest of our lives and I want it to be perfect. So, this is why I need some girl help, and I needed it now.
"Amelia!!!!"
I screamed physically hearing my voice echoing through the house. I heard footsteps pounding up the stairs and the door flung open. Amelia ran over to me, panting out of breath. Ops I feel guilty making her run, she must have thought it was an emergency.
"Bryn what's wrong?!"
She asked sounding panicked and the guilt trickled up again.
"I need help"
I said sheepishly and she glared at me as if I barfed in her favourite handbag.
"What do you need help with?"
She asked looking almost excited, maybe she needed some time off from being a mum. Honestly, I've started to slack on my mother job, but it's not like Jennifer's alone. She has her father and my friends to help me out will I settle back into life.
"Jake's taking me on a date and I don't know what to do"
I asked in a panic, feeling the butterflies trying to escape from my stomach. Amelia chuckled at me as if I were a child, that was asking why the water was blue.
"Calm down Bryn there's no need to be anxious, it will just be like any other date"
She explained as if that helped reassure me, when in reality it was the opposite.
"That's the problem I've never been on a date!"
I shrieked feeling a lot more freaked out than before. Amelia looked at me too shocked for words. Is it really that shocking that I'm completely inexperienced in the dating world?
"Okay I see why your panicking now old on, I'll help you"
She said confidently skipping off into my closet, which was so full I was sure she would get lost in there.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was 6:50 and in 10 minutes Jake was going to take me on our date. He hasn't told me where we're going or what I should wear, but I think Amelia found me the perfect outfit for everything and anything. She had me changed into a three quarter lace sleeved top which contrasted great with my skin. She also got me into (well not physically) a pair of frayed denim short shorts with a handbag to accessories with. Which was where she stuffed a few bills and lipstick into and I used it to hold my phone. I also had
Luckily, it was summer and us wolfs were extremely warm I didn't have to wear jumper or tights with the outfit to keep warm. Much to Amelia disagreement I left my hair to flow down my back naturally.
Amelia kissed my check and wished me luck leaving me alone with my nerves. Fortunately, I wasn't left alone long as someone knocked on my bedroom door. And by someone I meant Jake as his scent flowed through the door from the other side.
I took a deep breath and opened the door to see a smiling Jake on the other side. He looked at me with a smile, and I smiled back.
"You look gorgeous Bryn"
He told me making me blush bright red.
"You don't look so bad yourself"
I replied taking the moment to look him over. He like me had gone with a casual get up, with a pair of jeans and a plain grey t-shirt. It was nice that people don't have to dress up in fancy expensive clothing to look nice.
"Thanks, shall we get going we don't want to be late"
He said and I nodded closing the door behind me and took the hand he offered.
"Are you going to tell me where we're going?"
I asked with a sly brow, hoping to get an answer out of him.
"Time will tell my darling, you just have to wait"
He said smirking at my anxious need to know.
"Do you know what else will tell me? You will now spill!"
I said cheekily with a very energetic look on my face which only caused him to laugh instead of taking my request seriously.
"Nope can't do, you'll just have to wait and see!"
He said in a sing song voice making me chuckle along with him, who was also amused at this own behaviour. I honestly didn't like the fact that he wouldn't tell me where we were going. It wasn't that I didn't trust him when I trust him with the life of my daughter and me. But it was the fact that it's a surprise, something I don't know what's about to happen. I don't like uncertainty; it makes me feel vulnerable. But in my defence my life has been anything but expected, there's been twists and turns and big bumps in the road. But I'm alive and happier than I have been in my entire life and I'm not going to panic over a surprise date. Which I'm sure I'll love as soon as it starts.
Jake leads me outside to his car and he opens the car door for me like a gentleman. I smile thanking him before jumping into my seat, doing up the seat belt. Once he was in the car, he started to drive to the unknown date location, the one he was persistent not to tell me. Which really added to the suspense of the evening.
We drove into the town, which we don't do a lot. Since its a mainly human populated place, but obviously it has something our little werewolf town does not. We turned down a road into a crowded field. When I say crowded, I didn't mean there were hundreds of people there, there was more along the lines of hundreds of cars. All parked in a line facing a large billboard of some kind.
He drove up to the ticket boot, buying two tickets before driving off to find a park. When he cut the engine, I turned in my seat to face him.
"Okay now can you tell me what this is?"
I asked pointing outside the window, and he chuckled shaking his head.
"It's an old fashioned drive in movie"
He told me and I gasped in surprise. He had a look of fear on his face, maybe he thought my gasp was one of disgust?
"Oh my gosh I love these movies, of course I've never been to one but I've seen them in those old romance films"
I said in an adoring tone, practically in love over the fact he took us on such a romantic.
"Well I'm glad you like it; I was actually pretty nervous about it"
He said nervously rubbing the back of his neck. With a smile I leaned over and kissed his cheek and leaned back to see his surprised face.
"You could have taken me to some rugby game and I wouldn't care as long as you were there"
I said and he smiled warmly at me and it made my felt flutter...
