Chapter 48
Evangelina's forehead was soaked. She was sweating coldly and her heartbeat was racing.
"Why are you following me to the bathroom?" she asked Santino with a frown, trying not to let him notice her nervousness.
San Roman went into the bathroom to see if Eva was alone. After a quick look, he pulled her arm to take her with him.
"Are we leaving?" she asked excitedly.
"Yes, we're getting out of this shit, you and I need to talk," he spat, his hands clenched in anger.
As soon as they reached the house, Santino threw Eva to the ground. Eva watched him in horror, he was quite drunk.
"You want a divorce, don't you?" he shouted desperately at her.
Eva looked at him in fear. She couldn't believe that he was so angry, she had never seen him like that.
It's for the best Sam, we're not together, you have me as a prisoner and besides I feel I don't love you!" he shouted as he stood up.
Rosa immediately went downstairs with the kids to see what was happening, but Santino interrupted her.
"Get out of here, stay out of here!" he shouted at her angrily.
Rosa looked at him in fear. She took the children upstairs and locked herself in the room with them. She was afraid that Santino might do something to the babies. In fact, she was afraid of the man, which was why she had never told Eva that he was the cause of her memory loss.
...
"Sam, please, listen, there's no point in continuing together, this is crazy."
"Shut up, shut up, I'll never leave you, do you hear me?" he grabbed her by the neck and held her tightly against him.
"Please, you're hurting me," she whispered, scared to death.
Santino's eyes were red with rage. He took her in his arms to carry her into one of the rooms. Eva tried to break free, but the redhead's strength was supernatural.
Anderson's eyes widened in surprise as he realized what she was up to.
"I'm tired of waiting for you, I'm tired of wanting to be patient and you're not with me when you belong to me, you're going to deliver as a woman!"
"What are you saying Sam, no please don't do this."
"You're my wife, it's your duty," he shouted, taking off his pants and boxers.
Eva tried to get up, but Santino grabbed her by the hair and threw her onto one of the tables, hitting her head on a ledge.
Eva's breathing was ragged. The mansion where they lived was full of bodyguards, she didn't know who to ask for help and the voice in her throat wouldn't come out.
"Let me go! Let me go!" she screamed at him, trying to break free of his grip, but he wouldn't let her and began to tear at her dress furiously.
"I'm going to make you mine, Eva, just like Demetrio never did." Eva stood still. Unable to articulate any words as Santino clamped her mouth tightly shut.
Her chest rose and fell in fear. Santino climbed on top of her, desperately trying to kiss her body.
"Finally you will be mine," he whispered in her ear.
Eva grabbed a large chest from the table and hit Santino hard on the head, causing Santino to fall unconscious from the blow. Blood poured from his head and her hands trembled as she watched him bleed.
"Help!" she cried in desperation as Rosa entered the room.
"What happened, child?" she asked, frightened.
"He tried to rape me, he tried and... I hit him," she explained just as one of the bodyguards entered the room.
Eva covered her body, shaking with fear.
"Did I kill him?" she asked, her voice breaking.
"No, ma'am, he passed out, I'm taking him to his habilitation, he was too drunk."
Eva nodded her head and sat on the edge of the bed, crying.
"He tried to rape me, Rosa, he's crazy," she brought her hands to her soaked face.
"Calm down child, I'll get you some tea for your nerves, Mr. Sam was very drunk, I'm sure when he wakes up tomorrow he'll apologize, just be firm about the divorce."
Eva frowned thoughtfully.
Why did he say Demetrio? Isn't Demetrio the same man from the party and the park? Why does he know him? Some ex from my life? The questions rolled through her mind without finding an answer.
While she shook her hands, she went into the shower to bathe and then got out. Rosa was waiting for her on the bed with a cup of tea. Eva drank it and asked her to go out to be alone, to take care of the children herself.
She locked her room and took out the envelope the blue-eyed man had given her. Her hands were sweating and the blood left her body when she saw the photograph inside the envelope along with a note and an address.
She took the photo in her hands, unable to believe what she was seeing at that moment.
"It's me!" she began to cry, heartbroken. "And I'm with him and three other children," she sat on the bed, disoriented. Her head began to spin.
What did it all mean? Is it me? Or a twin sister? What about the children in the photo? Are they mine?
She put her hands to her mouth in desperation, she didn't know what to do at that moment, she was terrified.
After hours of sobbing and tears, she fell asleep. She could remember three blond children who looked like the twins, but taller. Eva looked at the girl of the triplets and she looked very much like her.
When she opened her eyes, her forehead was sweating. ....
"Little girl, are you okay?" asked Rosa next to her.
"I just had a nightmare. What time is it?" she asked doubtfully.
"It's nine in the morning." Eva got up hurriedly.
"I have to go out, tell me Santino isn't home," she said quickly.
"No, he went to the office a while ago. I had to heal his head, but he didn't say anything about last night," Rosa explained to Evangelina.
"Well, I'm going out for a moment, it's important."
"Madam, where are you going? If I may ask," the maid asked doubtfully.
"Listen to me, Rosa, if everything I think is true, I'm going to leave here, and you're going to come with me, okay," Rosa opened her mouth in surprise.
"Take care of my children, I'll be back soon," he hugged her tightly, feeling the warmth of a mother, and then looked at her children.
Her heart was pounding. They were beautiful, and strangely similar to the man at the party.
This can't be a damn coincidence, she thought doubtfully.
He took the twins in his arms, trembling with tenderness, and she kissed him with a tear on her cheek.
"My little treasures, they were looking for a third child in a year, and there may be three more of you missing."
She placed him in the crib as she wiped away his tears. Her heart shrank at the thought of three children she had not seen.
She left the mansion at a brisk pace. One of the guards stopped her. Eva looked at him with authority, and strangely enough, he let her pass. She wrinkled her forehead in confusion, but took a taxi to the place where Demetrio was waiting for her.
Demetrio sat at one of the tables. The detective had arrived in town with all the evidence he had been asked for, and it was only a matter of hours before Santino San Roman would be behind bars. He was nervous to see Evangelina, it had been a few hours and she hadn't shown up.
"She's not coming, damn it!" he exclaimed in disappointment.
Suddenly his gaze was drawn to a beautiful woman who came through the door of the canteen. Her hair was so black that it made her face even whiter. Her gray eyes were bright. She looked different, without glasses, but just as beautiful.
Demetrio's hands started to sweat at that moment.
Damn it! This woman has done something to you, Demetrio, it can't be that after so long, five children and a dog, this woman still makes your whole body tremble, he thought with a smile in her direction, who looked at him curiously.
Eva immediately felt her breath catch. The man in the chair couldn't be more beautiful and cocky.
I can't believe this man had anything to do with me, he's so handsome my legs are shaking like jelly, and so damn cocky, she bit her lips as she thought.
"Good thing you came Evangelina," Demetrio smiled and she stared at him. "Would you like to sit down?" Eva nodded and bit her lips.
"What we came for, Mr. Laureti." Demetrio smiled, remembering what she had called him.
"Fuck, stop laughing like that, like that!" Eva frowned and Demetrio laughed.
They stared at each other for a moment. Eva looked down nervously and Demetrio cupped her cheek. His hands trembled when he saw her there, so close to him.
"My beautiful Eva, how I've missed you, I love you so much."
Eva looked up. The Italian's eyes were shining brightly and a tear fell from her eye.
"How can I believe all this, how do I know that these pictures aren't a set up?" she asked doubtfully, although she clearly knew it wasn't, her body was screaming it to her.
"Why is it enough for you to look into my eyes, to see the love I feel for you, Eva?"
"My name is Eva?" she asked nervously.
"Yes, your name is Evangelina Anderson," the memory of Santino calling her Eva hit her like a gust of wind. Eva raised her hands to her head and an image of Demetrio in a beautiful office came to her mind.
"What is it, did you remember something?" he asked nervously.
"Yes, I remembered seeing you in an office, but I don't have anything with me."
"Because there are many things you must remember, my dear, believe me, Santino is not a good person, and you are in danger together with the children."
"Are they your children?" she asked, her heart pounding.
Demetrio cried with heartbreak.
"They are, Eva, they are mine, and I bet they have blue eyes and blond hair, just like the triplets."
Eva felt a lump in her throat.
"Do I really have triplets?" her eyes crystallized and she couldn't help crying.
"Yes, they are beautiful children, almost five years old, the girl's name is Fernanda, she is an enormous thing and the boys Andrea and Fernando are all gallants. Tell me about the twins, you know, every month I thought about what your belly would look like, I couldn't enjoy any of your pregnancies," Demetrio's voice choked.
"Why?" Eva asked with a frown.
"I'll tell you later, but never doubt my love for you, Eva," he took her hand, which trembled. "Listen to the beating of my heart, it beats because you are here with me, all this year I have not been able to live the same, I search for you in every part of my life, please believe me."
Eva watched him carefully, trying hard to remember, and as if by magic, the memories came to her.
She got up from the chair because of her headache. She felt dizzy and could hardly breathe.
Demetrio took her in his arms and desperately called out to her.
"Eva! Eva!" she was in shock. People were gasping for air and Demetrio looked at her worriedly. "A glass of water, please!" she asked a waiter who immediately brought it to her.
"Are you okay?" Eva looked at him and burst into tears.
"My love," she whispered and hugged him tightly.
Demetrio smiled broadly. He took her in his arms to carry her and spin her around as he cried out how much he loved her and thanked God.
"Good that you got your memory back and that you are here with me, my love," he kissed her desperately.
Eva grabbed his face in surprise.
"Did you have the operation?" Demetrio nodded his head.
Suddenly Eva remembered the accident and everything that had happened. A whisper came from her mouth.
"The children! We have to get the children, Demetrio, they're in danger!"
When they arrived at Santino's villa, there was a strange silence. Eva took a frightened breath and Demetrio nervously opened the living room door to find a heartbreaking scene.
"Nooooo!" Eva cried, putting her hands to her mouth at the sight of the huge pool of blood.
