CHAPTER 30
I look down, with sweat trickling down my forehead. I can't look up. I hear some scrunching of papers. It's the deed.
Suddenly, a sickening crunch followed with a blood curdling shriek. I immediately look up and to my horror, I find a staked Ryder lying on the concrete.
"What the fuck!" I scream, as I spot Lucas clasping the deed papers, as he kicks Ryder's body off to one side. He tears the papers in half, as he rushes towards me.
He fumbles out a key from his pocket, as he unlocks my iron shackles. I shake myself free as I drop off the shackles as they fall on the ground with a sharp clank sound.
What the fuck is happening? Lucas killed my fucking brother! What is all this? Some sort of alternate universe shit? Right now, he was supposed to stake me after he got the deed signed by me. My mind is churning with questions.
I stand up from the chair, when he clasps my face with his hands and I freeze at the touch. He spots my recoiling behaviour, as he takes a step towards me. Don't come near me, just don't.
He cups my face with his hands, as he gently feels the bruise on my forehead and I jerk his hand away.
"Don't you dare fucking touch me!" I shout at him. Don't come near me.
"Please, Damian. Gave me the chance to explain!" His hazel eyes, look expectingly at mine. Don't give in, Godfrey.
"Huh. I'm your fucking boss! This is how you address me, by my first name?" I scoff, as I check the wound on my chest. It's still bleeding. The vervain is still holding it's effects up.
"Please, don't. Please! Please! I saw it in your eyes!" He pleads grabbing my hands.
"What the fuck did you see in my eyes? The disdained face of getting betrayed? The joy when you killed off my brother? The pain when you relentlessly stabbed me with that knife? The confusion when you injected vervain in me? WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU SEE?" I can barely contain my temper, as I hiss at him.
"The love in your eyes. The love which you have for me." He whispers, as I see tears swelling up his eyes.
"To hell with that, Carter. I'm off." I growl, as I start storming off from that hell of a abandoned warehouse thingy.
I hear his footsteps quickly catching up with me, as I feel him keep his hand on my shoulder. I whirl and turn back, only to find him get down on his knees on the concrete.
"Don't leave me, please. Let me explain, Godfrey. Please." He sobs as he keeps gazing at the ground.
That's enough. I really can't see him like this.
"Get up." I calm down my voice, as I pick him up from the ground and start walking towards his car.
He quickly gets near the car, and hops in the driver's seat, as I flop down on the passenger seat.
"There are blood bags beneath the seat. Drink, please. You need to drink." He looks at me, with a pleading look as he keeps driving the car.
"Yeah. I don't want you losing your head while driving. Eyes on the road." I frown at him, as I find the blood bags, and I dig my fangs in.
He smiles at me, as he drives the car until we've reached our apartment. I get out of the car, and so does he.
He rushes towards me, as he throws my hand over his neck, offering me support to walk.
"Thanks. But I'll manage." I speak with my stone cold voice.
"Let me help you out, please!!" He cries out, and I nod in return.
He guides me towards the elevator, as we get inside. I press 40 and soon, the doors open, revealing my foyer. Woah! Home! My fucking home! I'm alive!
He quickly makes me lie down on my couch, after requesting me not to move. And quickly returns with a first aid box in his hand.
I do love him. No matter what he does to me. I thought he needed me, he wanted me and that, I was his paradise. But, I was wrong. I'm the one who's obsessed. I'm the one who's salavation is a man, standing infront of him. And all this time, oh darling, I was the addict.
