Chapter 191

Chapter 191

Kane gave the people kneeling and begging a quick, cold look. His face showed nothing.

He didn't feel like dealing with these small-timers. "Forget it. It's no big deal. I'll let it slide. Take him to the presidential suite and get him settled."

"Yes!"

Leopold looked like he'd just been pardoned. He nodded fast and didn't waste a second.

The once-arrogant female lobby manager and two security guards now didn't even dare breathe too loud. They kept their heads down, stepped forward carefully, and acted extremely polite. They led the way on either side, escorted Frank to the private VIP elevator, took him straight to the top floor, and respectfully showed him into the over-the-top presidential suite.

The suite had floor-to-ceiling windows with a full view of the city lights at night. The fancy furniture and warm lighting made the place feel expensive and exclusive.

After settling Frank in, Kane didn't stick around. He left the hotel, got back in the car, and headed to the villa.

Now Frank was alone in the huge presidential suite. He slowly lay down on the big, soft top-grade leather bed, stared at the fancy crystal chandelier above him, and looked out at the bright city night scene. His mind kept replaying everything that had happened tonight.

Leopold apologizing like a servant, rich and powerful people showing respect, the city's top resources all around him. All that glory, power, and respect should have been his!

If he hadn't driven Isabelle away back then, all this insane wealth, top connections, and everyone's respect would be his right now. He would be the most impressive, most respected man in Harborview City. Even the mayor and the heads of the three big families would have to give him face.

The more he thought about it, the more regret and pain hit him. Frank lay there with empty eyes, full of endless disappointment and regret.

Night had fallen deep. The villa party was long over, and the house was quiet and peaceful again.

Kane finished dinner with Isabelle and Winnie, just finished clearing the table, when his phone suddenly buzzed. It was Bayonet.

Kane stepped outside and took the call.

Kane frowned. "Did you find Howard's location?"

Bayonet sounded excited on the other end. "Mr. Lockwood! We got him. We finally locked down where Howard is hiding!"

Kane's eyes turned cold. He didn't hesitate. "Move out. Right now."

"Mr. Lockwood, understood!"

Bayonet's tone was respectful.

After hanging up, Kane quickly arranged guards to watch the villa around the clock and keep Isabelle and Winnie completely safe. No one was getting a chance to sneak in.

Once everything was set, just a few minutes later, a black armed helicopter cut through the night sky and landed on a nearby helipad.

Kane, Thorin, and Bayonet jumped on board. The helicopter sped up fast and shot off into the dark toward the distance.

Inside the cabin the lights were dim and the mood was tense.

Kane asked in a low voice, "Where exactly is Howard hiding? How did he stay so well hidden?"

Thorin stepped forward and reported respectfully, "Mr. Lockwood, Howard went deep underground. He's not in Harborview City at all. He's in a small town, inside a secret underground lab."

Bayonet added, "This lab is a big deal in underground circles. The world's top new deadly viruses come from there. The first artificial bio-engineered heart was also developed there."

He paused, his voice getting heavier. "And according to the latest secret intel we got, the lab is still running forbidden experiments—growing artificial cells to create Enhanced Humans."

Kane frowned. "Enhanced Human? What's that?"

Thorin looked serious. "Mr. Lockwood, Enhanced Humans are made through gene editing and cell strengthening. They're supposed to be way stronger than normal people, like superheroes in movies. Bullets can't even hurt them."

Kane's face darkened. "A lab like that must have tight security. How are we set for this raid?"

Bayonet bowed right away. "Mr. Lockwood, don't worry. We've got everything ready."

"Good."

Kane nodded slowly, his expression cold. "Get ready to fight."

Looking out at the dark night, Kane suddenly frowned again. Bullets can't hurt them? That sounds like him. Could his abilities be connected to these Enhanced Humans?

Half an hour later, the helicopter reached the sky above Windsong Town.

The town looked quiet and ordinary, but it was full of hidden danger. There were no regular residents anywhere. The whole area had been turned into a private restricted zone by the lab.

The streets, rooftops, and woods were packed with armed elite mercenaries. Countless hidden sentries watched from the shadows. The place was heavily guarded.

The moment Kane's helicopter got close to the town's airspace, the hidden sentries spotted it right away.

"Enemy invasion! Unknown helicopter entering the restricted zone!"

A sharp alarm tore through the night and echoed across the whole town.

The next second, hidden bunkers and sniper positions all opened fire at once. Bullets poured out like rain, locking down the entire airspace.

"Sit tight!"

Thorin shouted, took the controls with one hand, and dodged fast while hitting several hidden buttons inside the cabin.

The helicopter that looked like a normal passenger chopper suddenly opened panels on its body, revealing built-in missile launchers that gleamed coldly.

The mercenaries on the ground saw it and went pale with fear.

"Die!"

Before they could react, Thorin pressed the launch button hard.

Boom boom boom!

Deafening explosions rang out as several missiles shot down and hit the hidden bunkers and sentry points dead on. The strong bunkers blew apart, rocks and dust flew everywhere, and the hidden sentries were wiped out.

Mercenaries who couldn't dodge were thrown by the blast and hit the ground hard, losing their ability to fight. Half the ground defenses collapsed right away.

Just then, a camouflage jeep sped out from the center of town, slammed on the brakes in an open area, and stopped. A middle-aged man in a black lab uniform got out. He had sharp eyes and a strong presence.

He looked up at the helicopter and said in a cold, heavy voice, "I'm Tyler Hemingway, the head of this lab. This is my private restricted zone. Anyone who trespasses dies. You up there, land and talk."

"Mr. Lockwood, want me to have Thorin take this guy out?" Bayonet asked.

Thorin laughed. "Forget how many of them there are. One missile and they're done."

Kane stayed calm. "No rush. Land."

The helicopter landed smoothly. The cabin door opened.

Kane stepped out first. Thorin and Bayonet followed right behind. The three of them stood tall with a strong presence.

Tyler looked the three of them up and down, his eyes arrogant and cold. "Who are you? Why did you break into my territory?"

Kane stared straight at him, his tone flat but forceful. "I'm here for Howard. Hand him over and we're done. If not, every single one of you dies."

Tyler acted like he'd heard the funniest joke. He laughed wildly, full of contempt. "Who the hell do you think you are, coming to my turf and threatening me? You say I'll die? Let's see who dies first!"

As soon as he finished, Tyler's eyes turned icy. "Do it!"
