The confrontation.

Chapter 78:

Alpha Silas' pov.

Sin wasn't willing to let me out, but I subdued him and shifted back into my human form. He was disappointed, ringing it in my head that he could have easily torn Axel apart. I ignored him and ran towards the safe house with Myers.

The closer we got, the more I could see the smoke and flames rising towards the sky and my heart fell into my stomach. Reaching the scene, I was met with a gruesome sight that made my heart bleed.

The safe house had been burnt down and reduced to ashes, with only a few of it's structure dangling around. Looking around, there were dead bodies of women and children, lying around. Most of them burnt but others having their throats slit.

My heart ached, and for the first time in a long time, a tear trickled down my face. My subjects, everything is ruined!

“Oh almighty.” Myers muttered, he was as shocked as I was. His eyes widened as he looked around, searching for any sign of life but they were all dead. Axel has done his worst, I will not spare him!!

Anger surged through my veins, feeling me with only one thought, to kill Axel. I clenched my fists as I stared at the bodies, they didn't deserve this!

“Alpha!” A voice called out and I turned to see one of the soldiers running towards Myers and I. He bowed in respect, his breath rasp and heavy.

“Alpha, some of the women are being led out of the pack right now, the few survivors we managed to find.” He informed. I was relieved that a few survived, but that could never supercede the loss of so many.

“Where are you taking them?” I asked.

“To the neighboring packs who have accepted to give them shelter.” He replied and I sighed.

My pack has been ruined, my people will be turned into slaves in other packs if I don't put a stop to Axel's rebellion.

“Very well. And Axel's soldiers?”

“Our soldiers are fighting them at the gate, but they're winning. We're outnumbered.”

Myers glanced at me, fear evident in his eyes. Losing could only mean the death of both us.

“But, Axel has sworn to kill everything that breathes in this pack, relating to the death of Umar, his second in command. Apparently, one of the women stabbed him to death.”

My eyes widened at what the soldier had just said. I know Umar very well, he is Axel's closest friend and has led most of his rebellions. His death will surely fuel Axel's fury and make him attack with full force. But who could it be? Which woman from this pack was brave enough to kill him?

“Where is the woman?” I inquired.

“No idea Alpha, she fled the scene with the soldiers on her trail. I'm afraid she might not even be alive anymore.” He replied. I nodded and told him to go and join the others.

“Just look at my people Myers, and I'm helpless.” I sighed, staring at the bodies once again.

“It's not your fault, we were taken by surprise.” He replied.

“Fuck that! Do you think the moon goddess will consider that? Do you think that other packs will care about that? I will forever be known as the weak Alpha who allowed a bunch of rogues to infiltrate and wipe out his pack!” I said aggressively, feeling nothing but shame.

“So what do we do?”

“I'm going to face Axel.”

“What!? No! An even worse fate will befall us all if you decide to fight that monster of a man!” He argued but I turned to him with a dangerous glare.

“Myers, don't get on my nerves. We will do exactly what I have ordered and that's final.”

“But..”

“Let's go Myers, we're simply giving Axel what he wants by standing here and wasting time.” I started to walk away and he followed me. I went ahead to put on my war regalia and headed for war front.

Myers stayed closely beside, defending me from the attackers, refusing to leave his place as my beta. He swore to protect me, even if it would cost his life.

Myers was an excellent fighter so I did not need to worry about him, he was even better than I am.

“Well, well, well. Look who we have here.”

I know that annoying voice anywhere. I turned to see Axel, in all his glory, in front of me. He had really changed over the years, becoming more muscular. His beard was more defined and he has sustained a huge scar on his left cheek. Now, he has finally embodied the kind of person he is.

“Axel.” I called through gritted teeth and he chuckled.

“Missed me?” He raised his brow with a grin but I was fumed.

“I guess not. But that doesn't matter, I'm here now and I'm here to stay.”

“You won't get away with this Axel, I'll make sure I finish you off.” I threatened but he scoffed, moving closer to me. Myers quickly stepped in, making sure he doesn't come any closer.

“You always carry your bodyguard around?” Axel mocked and I asked Myers to step down.

“Axel, just take your soldiers and leave! I hope you know what happened the last time, the only difference is, I'll actually kill you this time.” I smirked but he didn't look fazed by my words in any way.

“You can't do anything old man, take it or leave it.”

Old!? Who's he calling old? I'm only thirty five!

“I've weakened your pack, your women and even your best soldiers are dead. What exactly can you do now? Absolutely nothing.” He laughed.

“Now the only thing left for me to take… is your head.”

“Don't cross your limits!” Myers barked.

“Oh be quiet! Or I'll snap your neck.” Axel clapped back and Myers growled.

“What the fuck do you want Myers? Tell me!” I demanded, getting fed up with his gloating.

“I want to destroy you Silas, isn't that clear?”

I was about to speak again when a woman's defeaning scream filled my ears. We all turned in the direction that the scream came from and I found Kaya being dragged towards us by Axel's soldiers, her son still strapped to her back.

“Let me go!! Let me go!” She cried out but they forced her to kneel before Axel.

“Sir, she's the one who killed Umar.” The soldier announced and I gasped.

“Oh really? Then I guess she'll have to pay.”

“Axel! Let her go now! Let her go!” I growled.

“You can't tell me what to do! You're not my father! At least.. not anymore.”
